We stayed a few weeks ago for 3 nights. I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews but ultimately I was pleasantly surprised. The price was great, the location is convenient, and our room was clean and well appointed. It reminds me of European hotels in the sense that the rooms and services are minimal giving you just what you need and none of the extras you usually find in American hotels. I would stay again.
For those of us living in or frequently exploring Washington, DC, the search for accommodation that offers both convenience and value, especially for short overnight stays or when hosting guests, can be a specific quest. Dupont Circle Embassy Inn by FOUND presents a distinctive lodging option that leans into a minimalist, self-service model, reminiscent of European boutique hotels. It's a place that strips away some of the traditional hotel "extras" to deliver what many modern travelers truly need: a clean, comfortable, and well-located base.
While some traditional hotel expectations might need adjustment—as one guest noted, "This is not a traditional hotel!!!" and there's "no hotel staff on site"—many have found themselves pleasantly surprised. A reviewer shared, "The price was great, the location is convenient, and our room was clean and well appointed... I would stay again." This indicates that for the right kind of traveler, particularly those who value independence and a streamlined experience, Dupont Circle Embassy Inn by FOUND hits the mark. It offers a unique value proposition, providing a cozy and private space in a highly desirable DC neighborhood.

As one reviewer simply stated, "The location was wonderful." Being on 16th Street NW, the hotel is just a short walk to the iconic Dupont Circle itself, with its famous fountain and lively park. From there, you have easy access to the Dupont Circle Metro station (Red Line), which provides direct and swift connectivity to major DC landmarks like the National Mall, Capitol Hill, and numerous museums. Additionally, multiple bus routes run along 16th Street and nearby Connecticut Avenue, offering further options for navigating the city. The hotel's proximity to Embassy Row, Meridian Hill Park, and a plethora of trendy cafes, bookstores, and boutiques means guests can explore a rich part of DC on foot. While on-site parking is not available, paid street parking (with time restrictions) and nearby parking garages are options, though public transportation is generally recommended for convenience in this bustling area. This prime location truly allows guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and easily reach any destination within the city.

As a property under the FOUND umbrella, Dupont Circle Embassy Inn by FOUND focuses on delivering value through its core offerings and competitive pricing, particularly for its excellent location. While specific, flash-sale type promotions might vary, here's what to generally expect:
Competitive Pricing for Location: The most significant "promotion" is often the great price point it offers for a highly desirable Dupont Circle address, especially compared to more full-service hotels in the area.
Direct Booking Advantages: While not always a specific discount, booking directly through the FOUND Hotels website or contacting them via phone can ensure you receive all necessary pre-arrival information and avoid potential communication issues that can arise with third-party booking services, which one reviewer highlighted as a problem.
Bundled Inclusions: The provision of complimentary Wi-Fi, in-room coffee/tea makers, and access to shared kitchen amenities (microwave, fridge) are inherent value-adds that contribute to a cost-effective stay, reducing the need for expensive outside services.
Flexible Cancellation Policies: Like many modern lodging options, they may offer fully refundable room rates (with specific terms and conditions) that provide flexibility, which can be a valuable "offer" in itself.
For the most current rates and any potential seasonal deals, it is always best to check their official booking channels or call them directly.

For us Washington, DC, locals, Dupont Circle Embassy Inn by FOUND offers a distinctive and often ideal solution for several common scenarios. It's not about being a full-service luxury hotel; it's about providing a smart, efficient, and well-located base, especially when simplicity and value are key.
Think about those times when you need a quick overnight stay in the city – perhaps after a late event, or if you're hosting a small number of out-of-town guests who prefer independence. The "great price" for a location that's "convenient" and right in the heart of Dupont Circle is a major draw. We know how expensive lodging in this city can be, so finding a clean, well-appointed room without all the "extras" you might not need (and pay for) is a genuine advantage.
Its "European hotel" feel, focusing on essential services, aligns well with a desire for practicality. The ability to use a shared microwave or fridge, coupled with an in-room coffee/tea maker, allows for simple self-catering, saving on dining expenses. While the absence of an on-site manager for immediate issues (like noise complaints) is a noted point, for many independent travelers, the trade-off for location and value is well worth it.
For locals, this inn could become your reliable "go-to hotel for overnights stays in the city," particularly if you're comfortable with its self-service model and appreciate a prime location that puts you within easy reach of everything Dupont Circle and central DC have to offer. It's a pragmatic choice for a comfortable and budget-friendly urban experience, right in our own backyard.

May 28, 2025 · Ariana FavettoThe location was wonderful. The rooms were not as advertised. The booking said it would be a queen bed but in reality it was a full sized mattress. After midnight other guests on our floor were making a lot of noise. I asked to keep it down but they didn’t. Because there is no hotel staff on site I called the customer service number. I was told if the entire hotel was complaining they would sent their off duty manager but if it were just us all they would do was make a note of it, which was absolutely no help to us that night. The A/C would cycle on and off and we weren’t able to make adjustments and because no one was there to call or help we had a long noisy, hot experience. When I made this complaint to the hotel they called me, but made no effort to make things right. It was a shame because we live just outside the city and had talked about making this our go-to hotel for overnights stays in the city, but after the way they handled this problem, we have no confidence in future stays.
Jun 16, 2025 · Grant KouriI would strongly advise against choosing this hotel. Unfortunately, the rooms do not match the photos provided. The air conditioning system is outdated, and in all lower-floor rooms, elevator noise is constantly audible. There are no on-site staff available; everything is communicated via messages, which can be quite inconvenient in urgent situations. The TVs did not work during our stay, and we had no one to contact immediately for assistance. Noise from HVAC systems and motor units could be heard throughout the ventilation shafts, making it very difficult to rest. We even saw a mouse in the garden area, which was quite alarming. There was no minibar in the room, not even drinking water. You need to leave your room and go to the lobby just to get water, which is unacceptable for the price paid. Aside from the location, everything else about the hotel was below expectations and disappointing.
May 11, 2025 · Yunus DoğanI WOULD ADVISE AGAINST STAYING HERE. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a door code panel that I wasn't sure what to do with. I had received a text earlier asking me to complete my registration, but I've never been required to do that at any hotel I've ever stayed in the last 11 years at my current job. I frequently travel for work, and my company books my hotels. I clicked on the link provided, but it wouldn't allow me to finish my registration. It wanted me to upload my photo ID, but it wouldn't let me do it. There was a phone number on the door, so I called it and spoke to a person. They told me to text them a picture of my ID and a current photo of me. I ABSOLUTELY was NOT happy about this. So sketchy, in my opinion. However, this person sent me a door code to enter not only the building, but my room. NO ONE works in this establishment. Everything is electronic. The only live greeting I received was from a mouse on the steps. There is no ramp to the front door, only steps, so I'm not sure it's even ADA compliant. I had to drag my 50 lb bag, plus my 20 lb backpack up stairs. Once I got to my room, it was moist. The AC was on high (window unit) and right next to the bed, which was right next to me while I slept. I had to SQUEEZE onto the toilet because it was so close to the pedestal sink. The toilet paper roll was hanging on by a thread. The room was outdated, musty, and there was an extreme lack of space to put things on from my luggage. I didn't even attempt a shower. I just needed sleep. During the night, an alarm woke me up, and, of course, no one works there, so no one turned it off. Eventually I fell asleep over the alarm with the sun coming up. Then at 8:15, the establishment texted me, waking me up, stating we hope you enjoyed your stay with us. Then at 9:05, the staff began vacuuming the hallways, and then at 10:15, the cleaning staff knocked on my door, even though I had the privacy sign on my door...... need I go on? I was booked for 2 nights. I left after 1. They said they would refund my 2nd night there due to my experience, but they didn't. I went to a Sheraton for about the same cost, and it was LOVELY.
Jun 09, 2025 · Dawn SpencerNever stay here. Terrible hotel. The worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Dirty rooms, holes in the walls, and a bathroom that looks old and poorly maintained. Awful service. The reception area is filthy, and the hallway smells like mold. The towel rack in the bathroom fell on my head due to lack of maintenance. This place is a dump. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the afternoon, and for hours, no one from the hotel showed up to turn it off. This place is a nightmare — absolutely terrible.
