This is a very special gem of a hotel. My husband and I and two kids stayed at the Lyle this weekend. We loved the entire aesthetic. The building is historic, with art deco design, and is impeccably maintained. My husband, who usually hates carpeting, loved the carpets in the room. Everything was super clean and comfortable. The valet parking was convenient. The food at the restaurant was phenomenal. Whenever I evaluate online reviews, I tend to look at the worst reviews, because I don't trust the best reviews. I figure they are either AI bots or shills, and the worst reviews should prepare me for the worst case scenario. In this case, people had complained about lighting in the room, low water pressure, a lack of a microwave in the kitchenette, no views, etc. Some people complained about air conditioning being insufficient. I don't know where people are coming from, but I spent years in NYC, and as a result, I have certain expectations about historic buildings. Overhead lighting is not necessary, water pressure was good enough, and of course there are no views! All of DC is six stories tall. Where would there be views? Also, you can get a microwave if you want one. We did not want one. Lastly, the room temperature was perfect. Americans often want their A/C to be like meat locker and that's their problem, not the Lyle's. Anyway, this is a boutique hotel with a very cool vibe in a fantastic neighborhood. The rooms are a couple hundred bucks more than a chain hotel, and the value is a million times better.

Jun 09, 2025 · Lilian BürglerWe stayed at the Lyle Hotel in Washington DC for a five day city break and had a great stay! From start to finish everyone was really friendly and helpful and made us feel very relaxed. A big thanks to Eugenio for making breakfast such a great experience every morning. Our room was super clean and a great size with everything we needed, the bed was really comfortable. Hotel is in a great location and we’d definitely stay here again—highly recommended!
May 04, 2025 · Tony COverall, I had a very nice experience staying at this hotel. The location is excellent — just an 8-minute walk to great restaurants, bars, and shops, and the street is especially beautiful during spring with all the blooming trees. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. I especially loved the Eggs Benedict — it was honestly the perfect breakfast. There were a few small issues during my stay. The room service was not very consistent: they forgot to leave trash bags for the bathroom, and when I arrived, one of the complimentary water bottles was already half-empty. There was also a strange smell, like pee, coming from the closet. On the weekend, breakfast had a live DJ playing loud music, which made it really hard to have conversations. Thankfully, during the weekdays, breakfast was peaceful and very enjoyable. Despite these small problems, it was still a good experience overall. My family visits Washington, D.C. every year and stays at this hotel because they really like it.
May 27, 2025 · GabrielaGorgeous hotel! My room had huge windows with views, so much natural light, and (not 1!) but 2 sitting areas which is unheard of for DC. The desk area was perfect for doing work and the corner sofa was perfect for lounging or laying out your clothes. Even with all of the amenities of the room, it never felt cramped. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed this hotel so much I extended my stay. The location was great. Very walkable, plenty of restaurants and things to do. The bathroom is a little tiny if you are like me and have a lot of products but they had a well appointed table directly outside of the bathroom for my overflow stuff.
Feb 14, 2025 · Maddy McQueeneyThe Lyle Washington DC is charming. I really enjoyed the location - an easy walk to DuPont Circle and the area is charming. The toiletries have a beautiful scent and are quite lovely. I had a couple of meals in the restaurant and the food was delicious. My only quibble is that there was no room in the bathroom for a make-up bag and barely even room for a toothbrush. Often as a single traveler you get the 'runt of the litter' room so I suspect that other rooms have bigger bathrooms.
