I planned on staying here for a little bit until I got some stuff situated. It was I was paying online through an app. I stayed there for a couple weeks, tried to pay for another week online, and magically, I couldn't book it. I went up front and asked how much a week would be and it was over a $100 more than advertised online. For over $500 a week, I'm not paying to say in a roach motel. I can get a way cleaner, nicer, and room without roaches for that price. If you wanna stay in a roach infested, nasty room for $515 a week, this is the place for you. Me, personally, I'm good.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For us North Carolinians, the Econo Lodge in Gastonia offers a very specific value proposition: an extremely budget-friendly and accessible place to stay. While recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding room condition and service, it's important to understand the role such motels play for a certain segment of local travelers.

Its primary suitability for locals lies in its affordability and location. For those needing a very economical overnight stop while traveling on I-85, or a low-cost base for a longer stay in Gastonia where the budget is the absolute top priority, Econo Lodge positions itself to meet that need. Its convenient access to major roadways means less time navigating and more time on your journey or at your destination. The ample free parking, including for larger vehicles, is also a practical advantage for many North Carolinians on the road.

The pet-friendly policy is another key benefit for locals who often travel with their beloved pets. Finding affordable accommodations that welcome animals can be challenging, and Econo Lodge offers this convenience. Basic in-room amenities like a microwave and refrigerator can also help save money on dining out, a practical consideration for those managing expenses.

However, it is crucial for locals considering this Econo Lodge to manage expectations carefully based on the very direct and recent customer feedback. While budget motels serve a purpose, the reviews about "roach infested, nasty room" and issues with room functionality and front desk attitude are significant. For those seeking the absolute lowest price point and accepting the potential for a very basic or challenging experience, this motel might be considered. However, if cleanliness, comfort, and reliable service are higher on your priority list, even for a budget stay, it would be wise to explore alternative options in the Gastonia area that might offer a better balance for a slightly higher price point. This Econo Lodge is primarily suitable for those for whom extreme budget-consciousness overrides all other considerations and who are willing to potentially encounter the issues highlighted by other guests.

Came up here yesterday got put in room 314 the door is broken then I got put in room 223 couldn’t get in there so now I’m in room 312 there is a hole in the ceiling the floor feels like it going to break through no tv remote the door don’t lock. I went to the office for a tv remote the front desk person got an attitude and didn’t help me get the batteries in the tv remote and said that was the last one they had. Honestly I’m taking my business elsewhere I didn’t have this problem before l

Owner / guy working would not tell his name to my daughter when she went to pick up some people that he was kicking out. The people that got kicked out was 18 years old but he still kicked them out and refused to give them a refund. He is also price gouging the website says one thing but he was trying to charge them $90 for one day. If at all possible people should avoid this place it smells terrible and is falling apart they don't want to fix anything.. trash place. If I could give it a half star I would.

I had to go pick up my friends because they were 18 and under the age of 21 is the reason he gave for kicking them out the so-called manager he was rude as hell when I walked in and started asking questions the poor girl beside him working the desk look confused and slightly scared so I don't know what's going on with that their motel looks like it's falling apart from the outside smells quite frankly on the outside all around the owners need to be watching this show called manager and need to figure out what the hell his deal is also they are charging way more inside rather than what it says on the website the so-called manager needs to be gotten rid of and put somebody that has common sense and can deal with people it's really funny to be honest how he told the 18 year old he needed to be 21 to stay there longer after they had done paid for 5 days but when I asked he said I needed to be 22 years old so his nothing but a liar and the place really should be shut down just for how dirty and nasty the people/place is

Our room was terrible. The flooring has gaps between tiles. The bathtub has burn stains from cigarettes. There's no coffee maker. The hotel is full of permanent and long-term renters. There is no breakfast even though the ads state there is. We never saw a cleaner the entire three days there. All in all, needs a lot of help.
