If you want a place to escape the busyness of life this is the place. Elk Hallow exceeded our expectations! We stayed in The Safari tent. It was immaculate, the decor was so well thought out, with some of the neatest little details. We spent the majority of our 5 days right there on the porch grilling out and relaxing in the hot tub. The canopy of leaves and the smell of spring all around you. They have a beautiful nature trail that goes throughout the property with well built wooden bridges crossing the creek that ends at an area with wooden swings to sit and enjoy all the nature around you. We will definitely be back and will share with all we know what a great place to escape to.

This thoughtful integration of the natural landscape enhances the sense of tranquility and provides opportunities for leisurely exploration right on site. While offering this peaceful seclusion, Elk Hollow Resort maintains convenient access to the vibrant attractions of Bryson City, often referred to as the "Adventure Capital of the Great Smoky Mountains." It's just minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Deep Creek (known for waterfalls and tubing), and the Nantahala River (popular for whitewater rafting). The charming downtown of Bryson City, with its unique shops, dining options, and the iconic Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, is also easily accessible. At night, the sky is "illuminated with thousands of stars," offering a magnificent stargazing experience far from city lights.

Elk Hollow Resort offers a diverse collection of accommodations and services, blending the rustic appeal of the mountains with luxurious amenities. The resort primarily features:

  • Luxury Glamping Safari Tents: These are a highlight of the resort, blending the charm of traditional camping with hotel-level comforts. Each tent is climate-controlled (with heating and AC), includes a comfortable king-size bed with plush linens, a full kitchen with dining area (featuring stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and all necessary kitchenware), and a private bathroom (often with a walk-in tile shower, soaking tub, and vanity). They boast a spacious deck with a gas grill, a private hot tub, and a fire pit, often adorned with "romantic string lights." Some tents offer stunning mountain views. Sizes vary, with some being one-bedroom for 1-2 people and others offering two bedrooms for 2-4 people.
  • Unique Yurts: Offering another distinctive glamping experience, the yurts blend rustic charm with modern amenities in a circular, nature-inspired design. These also often feature fully equipped kitchens, private hot tubs, and provide a strong connection with nature through large windows and skylights. These yurts are hard-wall, metal roof structures.
  • Spacious Cabins: For larger groups or families, the resort offers cabins like "Lookout Lodge." These are beautiful and well-equipped houses, typically featuring multiple bedrooms (e.g., 4 private bedrooms and 4 bathrooms), full kitchens, large dining areas, and entertainment spaces like basements with games (e.g., cornhole) and spectacular views. They also include private hot tubs and fire pits, along with outdoor areas like patios or decks.
  • Private Amenities: Regardless of the accommodation type, a strong emphasis is placed on private amenities for each unit. This includes private hot tubs, private fire pits (with roasting sticks often provided), and private decks/patios, ensuring a secluded and personal experience for each guest. Firewood is not provided on-site but can be purchased nearby.
  • Fully Equipped Kitchens: All accommodation types, from safari tents to cabins, come with full, modern kitchens, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and enjoy dining in. The kitchens are noted to be "fully stocked" with sharp knives and all necessary kitchenware, including a small drip and Keurig coffee maker.
  • Thoughtful Decor and Details: Guests consistently praise the "tastefully decorated" interiors and the "neatest little details," highlighting the care and attention put into the design of each unit.
  • On-site Nature Trails: As mentioned, the property features well-maintained nature trails with wooden bridges and creeks, offering a serene activity directly on the resort grounds. There are also wooden swings, benches, and picnic areas along the trails.
  • Connectivity: Free WiFi is available across the properties, ensuring guests can stay connected if desired.
  • Parking: Free on-site parking is available for all guests, and larger spaces can be provided for larger vehicles, RVs, and trailers upon request. Parking is conveniently located at each unit.
  • Self Check-in: Guests receive check-in instructions and an access code via email 24 hours before arrival, allowing for a seamless private entrance. A virtual front desk provides assistance to guests. Standard check-in time is 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:30 AM.

The features of Elk Hollow Resort are consistently highlighted as exceeding guest expectations. The "immaculate" condition and "well thought out" decor of the units, particularly the Safari Tents, are frequently lauded. The focus on privacy and relaxation is a key differentiator, with guests spending "the majority of our 5 days right there on the porch grilling out and relaxing in the hot tub." The opportunity to enjoy the "nighttime sky illuminated with thousands of stars" is a unique feature that contributes to the resort's charm. For larger groups, the "Lookout Lodge" is celebrated for its spaciousness, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, and fun "basement" game area. The resort's ability to offer a genuine "escape the busyness of life" experience while providing all the comforts of home (and more) is a recurring theme in reviews. The location is also a major draw, offering a base for exploring various outdoor activities like tubing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking to waterfalls (e.g., Indian Creek Falls, Tom Branch Falls, Juney Whank Falls), and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. While some glamping sites are specifically designed for couples and may not be kid-friendly (e.g., "you won't be seeing or hearing any little kids"), the cabins are clearly family-friendly, showing the resort caters to diverse needs. The responsive and welcoming hosts are also frequently praised for enhancing the guest experience. The high level of satisfaction is evident as many guests express intentions to "definitely be back" and recommend the resort to others. The resort emphasizes enhanced cleaning protocols for a safe environment.

For promotional information, prospective guests should directly contact Elk Hollow Resort at (678) 468-9182 or +1 678-468-9182, or visit their official website at elkhollowresort.com. While specific, real-time promotions are best confirmed at the source, resorts of this caliber often offer:

  • Seasonal Packages: Special rates or inclusions during specific times of the year, such as fall for stunning foliage, winter for snow activities, and spring and summer for hiking and water sports.
  • Romantic Getaway Packages: Tailored offerings for couples, perhaps including additional amenities or services, given the resort's strong appeal to couples.
  • Multi-Night Stay Discounts: Incentives for booking longer stays, which are common given the immersive nature of the experience.
  • Direct Booking Incentives: Exclusive rates or perks for booking directly through the resort.

Given the popularity and unique nature of the accommodations, it is highly recommended to book well in advance, especially for peak seasons or specific units like the Safari Tents or Lookout Lodge. Policies on children and pets vary by unit; some glamping tents are noted as primarily for couples and pets are generally not allowed at the property. The resort follows enhanced cleaning protocols, with regular sanitation of high-touch surfaces. Parties or events are generally not allowed to maintain the peaceful atmosphere. The resort emphasizes that guests truly only need to bring food, drinks, and clothing, as almost everything else is provided, making for an incredibly convenient and stress-free vacation. We had the best time at Lookout Lodge. The house is beautiful and has everything you need for your stay. The hot tub was perfect for the kids and there was cornhole and fire pit for the adults to enjoy. The nighttime sky is illuminated with thousands of stars. The drive up to the house is curvy and feels a bit adventurous at the beginning. We found it quite fun. Bryson City and the falls were amazing to visit as well.

This was an absolutely incredible stay for my wife and me. We celebrated our one-year anniversary here and I hope we can come back year after year. The view was incredible, the tent was so comfortable and every detail was thought of, right down to the heated mattress pad! Incredible communication from the host. Downtown is close by, though we didn’t really venture out. If you forced me to say something critical about the location: the hill is steep to get up but I was able to make it with my front-wheel drive Mazda 3 and some gusto. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had an amazing trip to Elk Hollow Canopy for our 20th anniversary! The interior and exterior setup of the safari tent was perfect and very romantic. The hot tub was great to relax in after a day having fun. The private bonfire pit was very nice. Chilling on the deck up amongst the trees could not have been any more peaceful. In addition, the proximity of the driveway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park could not be beat. Elk Hollow you nailed it and we plan to be back as soon as possible.

Our second stay at Lost Creek this year. Jeanetta (hostess) is great, as is this place. I highly recommend Elk Hollow for a romantic getaway that is close to town but feels secluded. The safari tents are immaculate and so quirky and cool. With a fire pit, huge deck and a hottub for two this setting is a great retreat spot to recharge and refocus.
