Been using this launch for several years, normally to meet with friends who take me out on their boat. (I believe or heard there's been an ownership change several years ago). Recently had the first time helping a buddy launch his boat and an older woman could use an attitude adjustment. She stood in the middle of the road, so being unfamiliar I drove around her on the left where there was more room. She shouted for me to drive to the right of her so I did, and while making my way to their double launch she shouted me to stop because it wasn't my turn yet. In her words, "Jesus Christ, have some F'ing common sense." Uncalled for and rude service. Btw, after that encounter I waited several minutes confused for our turn to launch to realize there actually wasn't anyone else ahead of us and that we were actually next. Even walked out to check. (Make note it wasn't even that busy of a day also with their overfill lot only having about 10 trailers parked). Definitely making me consider launching through public in the future. Will give them another chance but will be on my toes now for rude service.
For many Wisconsinites, the Mississippi River is more than just a geographic feature—it’s a way of life, especially for those who love fishing. When it comes to finding a reliable and convenient base for a fishing expedition on the river, Everts Resort in Hager City is a name that often comes up in conversation. Located on Pool 4, just downstream from Lock & Dam #3, this resort has established itself as a prime destination for anglers seeking some of the best walleye and sauger fishing in the Upper Midwest. While it may not be a traditional resort with a spa and fine dining, Everts Resort offers something far more valuable to its target audience: a dedicated, no-frills haven for fishermen and boaters. With a focus on providing essential services that make a day on the water as easy as possible, Everts has become a staple for many who frequent this stretch of the river. This article will delve into what makes Everts Resort a suitable and popular choice for locals, from its strategic location and practical services to the overall experience that keeps people coming back.
The core appeal of Everts Resort lies in its straightforward and practical approach to serving the fishing community. Unlike larger, more commercial establishments, it focuses on the fundamental needs of its guests. A review from a dedicated boater highlights this perfectly, calling Everts "the best launch below Dam# 3," and noting that the $10 launch fee is "well worth the extra cost to avoid long lines at the public launches." This is a significant point for anyone who has wasted precious fishing time waiting in a queue. The reviewer also praised the bait shop, stating it "has all of your walleye needs," and appreciated the genuine and friendly conversations with the family that owns the resort. This feedback paints a picture of a business that understands its clientele and provides a valuable service that simplifies their fishing trips.
However, it's also important to acknowledge that not every experience is perfect, and a complete picture requires looking at all the feedback. Another review mentioned a less than ideal encounter with a staff member during a boat launch. The reviewer described a situation where a staff member was "rude" and used "uncalled for" language, causing a moment of confusion and frustration. This review serves as a reminder that while the resort is often praised for its friendly atmosphere, personal interactions can vary. The reviewer, however, still expressed a willingness to "give them another chance," which suggests that the overall value and convenience of the resort are strong enough to overcome a single negative interaction. The fact that the resort provides a less crowded and more efficient launching experience compared to public options is a powerful draw that can offset isolated issues.
The resort's dedication to the fishing community is its strongest asset. It provides a specialized service that is highly valued by its niche market. The availability of a well-stocked bait shop, the efficient boat launch, and the proximity to prime fishing spots all contribute to a highly positive and practical experience for anglers. The resort has cabins for rent, which includes a free launch and access to the fish cleaning facility, adding another layer of convenience for those who want to turn a day trip into a weekend getaway. It’s clear that Everts Resort has a deep understanding of what fishermen need and has built its business around fulfilling those needs efficiently and effectively.
Everts Resort is located at N1705 860th St, Hager City, WI 54014. This location is a key part of its appeal, as it is situated directly on the Mississippi River, specifically on Pool 4 below Lock & Dam #3. This makes it the closest launch point to a highly productive and popular year-round fishing spot. For fishermen, this is a significant advantage, as it minimizes travel time on the water and puts them closer to where the fish are biting. The resort's proximity to the dam is especially beneficial for smaller crafts that may not be suited for long stretches of open river.
Accessibility to the resort is straightforward, with the address placing it in Pierce County, just a short drive from the main thoroughfares. For locals in western Wisconsin or those coming from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota, the drive is relatively easy. While the exact driving directions may require a GPS, the location is well-known within the fishing community. The resort offers a double-lane boat launch, which, as one reviewer mentioned, is often less crowded than public launches. This contributes to a smoother, faster process of getting on the water, which is a major factor in the resort's value proposition. The surrounding area is rural, but the resort itself serves as a convenient hub for all fishing-related needs.

Secondly, the resort offers practical lodging with its cabins, providing a convenient solution for weekend fishing trips. This makes it an ideal spot for a family fishing getaway or a trip with friends. Mar 22, 2025 · Cheng VangReview for the boaters and fishermen. Everts is the best launch below Dam# 3. It’s a $10 launch fee, but well worth the extra cost to avoid long lines at the public launches. Everts is also just a mile and a half downstream from Dam #3 so this launch is perfect for smaller crafts. The bait shop also has all of your walleye needs. I could already tell from my brief conversations with the family that owns Everts that they genuinely enjoy the presence of fishermen. We fishermen appreciate everyone at Evert’s!
Mar 16, 2025 · Shong VangWe spent 3 nights and 4 days at Everts Resort the last weekend of September. We found the camp and cabins were very clean! Location was perfect, right along the Mississippi, a short boat ride to pool 4. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Tracy, as she was out of town, however she did participate in a little joke we played on our buddy, which was awesome! In Tracy's absence, we had Scrub's helping out around the camp. He was great! One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Fishing was marginal at best, however we still had a great stay with a lot of laughs. Special shout-out to Liberty's in Red Wing, as they delivered us a great pizza. They said they would even deliver anything on the menu! Keep this in mind while staying at Everts. Overall great stay, highly recommend, we'll be going back. Thank You Everts!
Sep 29, 2024 · Jim HughesChris and his crew made our first trip on the river an amazing event. We were welcomed like we were family. The accommodations were perfect for a getaway on the river, the bait shop was stocked with everything you will need. I highly recommend hiring Chris for a day on the river, his knowledge of the river is second to none. He had us on fish within 10 minutes of setting up. He shared his tactics of fishing and the history of the area. The show the Eagles put on for us was just a bonus!!!! I would recommend Everts and Winchester Adventures to anyone looking for a great getaway.
Jul 02, 2023 · Daniel O'KaneGreat for bunch of drunk men. Location is great....but must have been 20 huge Flys in room when arrived, the heater when it kicked in sounded like a jet taking off. No minnows??? Your a fishing resort! The water for the fish cleaning station was on first day last 2 days no water??? Self serve bait shop no one was ever there to talk too. Kind of like a pick and save resort....do it yourself.
