We paid $806.87 in full in advance for a week long stay at this hotel only to be REFUSED to come in at check in! We drove 10 hours to get here, called and spoke to Bob? letting him know that our travels were delayed and we would not arrive until between 2am - 3am. He was very nice and said that is fine, he will put it on our file. We called 45 minutes prior to arrival once again to ensure everything is good. A nice foreign lady also said that is fine we are good to go. We arrive, used the lobby phone as both instructed us to do to speak with the person onsite. Justin which is onsite, REFUSED to let us in! He decided to go ahead and cancel our week long reservation even though it was put on our file and 2 different people confirmed our arrival time was still good to go. He couldn’t make a new reservation for us either. He refused to give names of people we spoke to. He refused to give us our paid in full $806.87 for the week even though we didn’t even make it in the building past their lobby! Thank GOODNESS Holiday Inn Express last second let us come in and book our stay through them. She was extremely nice and said this hotel Extended Stay of America in Wilkes-Barre, PA she hears nothing but bad things non stop! And this isn’t the first time they’ve done this she said. DO NOT GO HERE! Their lobby smells horrendous anyways so maybe we dodged a bullet but gotta go through the hassle of disputing charges since they refused to do a single thing!

Extended Stay America Select Suites - Wilkes - Barre - Scranton Introduce

For local users Browse the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in search of accommodation, particularly for longer durations, the Extended Stay America Select Suites - Wilkes - Barre - Scranton presents itself as an option. Located at 1067 PA-315, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, USA, this hotel is designed to cater to guests requiring more than just a short overnight stay. It can be contacted via phone at (570) 970-2500 or +1 570-970-2500.

As an Extended Stay America Select Suites property, its core concept revolves around providing a home-like environment for guests on extended trips, whether for business, relocation, or leisure. The hotel's location on PA-315 suggests good accessibility, likely placing it conveniently close to major roadways and local points of interest in the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton metropolitan area. While the specific external environment is not detailed, hotels of this type are typically situated in areas with easy access to shopping centers, dining establishments, and local businesses, which are essential for guests during longer stays. The exterior is generally functional, focusing on providing direct access to parking and guest rooms.

The primary feature distinguishing an extended stay hotel like this one from a traditional hotel is the in-room kitchenette. These kitchenettes are typically equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and often a coffeemaker, along with basic cooking utensils and dishes. This allows guests to prepare their own meals, significantly reducing dining expenses and providing a sense of independence and routine, which is particularly valuable during longer visits. This aspect is explicitly highlighted in a positive customer review, noting that the kitchenettes make it "easy to prepare meals and save on dining costs."

Beyond the kitchenette, the hotel generally offers a range of services and features tailored for extended stays. On-site laundry facilities are a significant convenience, allowing guests to manage their personal laundry without leaving the premises, a common need for those staying for a week or more. Free Wi-Fi is a standard offering, crucial for both business and leisure travelers needing to stay connected. Weekly housekeeping services are typical for extended stay properties, striking a balance between maintaining cleanliness and respecting guest privacy. Some locations may offer daily housekeeping for an additional fee. Other amenities often include complimentary grab-and-go breakfast options, which might consist of coffee, hot cereal, and muffins, although this specific detail is not confirmed for this particular location in the provided information.

Guest rooms are designed to be comfortable and functional for longer durations, usually offering a more spacious layout than a standard hotel room. Beyond the kitchenette, rooms would typically include a comfortable bed, a work desk and chair, and a flat-screen television with cable channels. Air conditioning is a standard feature for climate control. The hotel aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere where guests can unwind after a day of work or exploration. Pet-friendly policies are often a feature of Extended Stay America properties, though specific details regarding fees or restrictions for this location would need to be verified directly with the hotel.

Promotional information for an Extended Stay America Select Suites would emphasize its suitability for various long-term needs: individuals on corporate assignments, those relocating, military personnel, or families on extended vacations. The ability to save money by cooking meals in-room, the convenience of on-site laundry, and competitive weekly or monthly rates are key selling points. Loyalty programs, such as Extended Stay America's own Extended Perks program, often provide discounts and benefits for returning guests. Special offers may include discounts for booking longer stays, government/military rates, or seasonal promotions to attract a consistent flow of guests.

However, an objective introduction necessitates addressing the highly contrasting customer reviews. One review details an extremely negative experience where guests, who had paid "$806.87 in full in advance for a week long stay," were "REFUSED to come in at check in!" despite communicating delayed arrival times multiple times and receiving confirmation from staff. The reviewer describes being turned away by an on-site person named "Justin" who "decided to go ahead and cancel our week long reservation" and refused to issue a refund. This led to a stressful last-minute search for alternative accommodation and the hassle of disputing charges. This review strongly advises, "DO NOT GO HERE!" and mentions that "Their lobby smells horrendous anyways." This customer also states that a Holiday Inn Express employee confirmed "this hotel Extended Stay of America in Wilkes-Barre, PA she hears nothing but bad things non stop! And this isn’t the first time they’ve done this she said." This feedback points to severe issues with customer service, potentially unauthorized cancellations, and a lack of accountability.

Conversely, another review offers a glowing recommendation, describing a "Great Extended Stay Experience in Wilkes-Barre - Highly Recommend!" This guest states being "currently staying" at the hotel and being "couldn't be more pleased." This review praises the staff as "consistently friendly, helpful, and they go above and beyond to ensure my comfort." The guest found the rooms to be "clean and well-maintained" with kitchenettes making it "easy to prepare meals and save on dining costs." The on-site laundry facilities were also noted as a "huge convenience." A "special mention" is made for "Aaron, the manager," described as a "true asset" whose "professionalism, approachability, and dedication to guest satisfaction were evident in every interaction." This review concludes by highly recommending the hotel for its "comfortable accommodations and the outstanding service."

These two reviews present a significant dichotomy. One describes a catastrophic experience with alleged fraudulent behavior and severe customer service failures, while the other praises exceptional staff and comfortable, clean accommodations. This discrepancy suggests that guest experience at the Extended Stay America Select Suites - Wilkes - Barre - Scranton can be highly variable. For users of "Hotels Near Of Me," this means exercising caution and potentially seeking more recent and diverse reviews to gauge the current operational standard. While the concept of an extended stay hotel with kitchenettes and laundry facilities is appealing for longer visits, the potential for very negative experiences, as highlighted by one customer, should be seriously considered. It is advisable for prospective guests to directly contact the hotel regarding their specific needs and to confirm all booking details, especially for pre-paid reservations, to mitigate risks.

A Great Extended Stay Experience in Wilkes-Barre - Highly Recommend! I am currently staying at the Extended Stay America in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and I couldnt be more pleased with my experience. From the moment I arrived the staff has been consistently friendly, helpful, and they go above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The hotel itself offers exactly what you need for a longer stay: comfortable rooms equipped with kitchenettes, making it easy to prepare meals and save on dining costs. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, and any minor requests I have are addressed promptly. The on-site laundry facilities are also a huge convenience. However, what truly sets this Extended Stay America apart is the exceptional staff. ***A special mention must be made for Aaron, the manager. *** He is a true asset to this hotel. Aaron's professionalism, approachability, and dedication to guest satisfaction were evident in every interaction. He was always available to answer questions, address any concern. He has gone out of his way on several occasions to assist me, and his positive attitude was infectious. Thanks to the comfortable accommodations and the outstanding service, particularly from Aaron and the entire team, my extended stay in Wilkes-Barre is truly pleasant one. I highly recommend the Extended Stay America in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay for an extended period. You'll be well taken care of!

Rooms are fine. Rate is very competitive. Pet Friendly. Service and staff are always accommodating. Location is excellent. This is near everything. Airport, Interstate, Hospital and every major retailer there is. Would highly recommend. Should fit everyone's needs.

Stayed here for almost 2 months. Aaron is great and extremely helpful with anything you need. The staff at the front desk have always been kind and have never had any major issues. The location for the hotel is great and really close to Sheetz and Mohegan Sun, and also the 7 Tubs Park and numerous attractions inside of Wilkes Barre. The rooms are a little bit older however for the price they are pretty decent it was also pretty clean. The view out of the 4th floor is absolutely beautiful. There is a covered patio and a nice grill outside. I grilled some nice burgers while it was snowing really great time. Besides that the place is generally pretty quiet and pretty safe. Aaron and the staff and the police take extra care to make sure the hotel is pretty safe and ive seen police around numerous times just patrolling the area. Is this a 5 star hotel. No definitely not but for the price you pay it is a absolute bargain of a place. And I would definitely come back to stay again if needed.

Double charged me for several days of my stay totaling over $700 currently in dispute over a month later. Claimed the extra charges weren't even in their system. Room was amazing, but for the love of everything do not give them a second card to charge or they WILL charge both.
