I spent our hard earned money to take my girlfriend on a weekend get away after she broke her ankle, We specifically called to make sure that their pool was up and running so she could use it for her ankle therapy, they advised it was open and once arrived they said it was closed, the fitness center also closed, hot tub also closed...I booked through expedia so this wasn't their fault but they put us in a room that had lots of steps and girlfriend couldn't walk due to broken ankle so their was absolutely NO HANDICAP access or ways to get her around the hotel what so ever, she ended up having to be helped up and down the stairs by me and other guest, the rooms were fair, alittle dated but over all cozy, they also put us right by the night club which was EXTREMELY loud until around 2am, room 144 Blairred their music until midnight but that wasn't the hotels fault moreless the guest beside us...Hibachi was great, morning breakfast was so so, not good but still editable, the staff was helpful as best they could considering the lack of HANDICAP access, unfortunately the noise wasn't handled properly obviously because of the night club, but such as life, I would definitely recommend staying their if your not HANDICAP or noise sensitive, and also make sure the pool is actually up and running before you spend your money, the hot tub has been closed for year's due to covid, which I'm sorry covids long over, they did advise that the hot tub is under construction but I've also heard that on prior stays which is 💯 ashame because they had a awesome hot tub that was really fun to use when it was open....
The Woodlands Inn and Resort, located at 1073 PA-315, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, USA, presents itself as a comprehensive destination offering a blend of accommodation, dining, and entertainment options. Falling within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, this resort aims to cater to a diverse range of guests, from those seeking a weekend getaway to attendees of corporate events or weddings. For direct inquiries or reservations, the resort can be reached at (570) 824-9831 or via mobile at +1 570-824-9831.
The environment at The Woodlands Inn and Resort is expansive, featuring a large property that includes various buildings and outdoor spaces. The resort's design aims to create a versatile atmosphere, capable of hosting lively entertainment nights alongside more relaxed stays. The front lobby is often noted as being "nicest," suggesting a welcoming initial impression. However, recent guest experiences highlight significant concerns regarding the overall upkeep and consistency of the environment beyond the lobby. Reviewers describe rooms as "a little dated but overall cozy," yet also note a general need for "a lot of maintenance" across the property, with issues like "water leaking from ceiling in hallway." The presence of a nightclub on-site, while a feature for entertainment, also leads to "EXTREMELY loud" conditions until the early hours (around 2 am), making it unsuitable for noise-sensitive guests or those seeking a peaceful night's sleep. The resort's layout, as per a guest review, also presents challenges for handicap accessibility, with "lots of steps" and a complete lack of "HANDICAP access or ways to get her around the hotel what so ever." This suggests that while the property is large, its infrastructure may not uniformly support all guests' needs.
The services at The Woodlands Inn and Resort are varied, reflecting its multi-faceted operation. The staff is generally described as "helpful as best they could," indicating a willingness to assist guests, though limitations exist due to facility issues. The resort includes multiple dining options, such as a "Hibachi" restaurant, which was praised as "great," and a morning breakfast service, though described as "so so" and "not good but still editable." This suggests a range in quality across its culinary offerings. The resort also functions as a popular venue for events, particularly weddings and conferences, indicating a dedicated events team and catering services. However, the most critical service failure highlighted by guests is the miscommunication regarding amenity availability. Guests have reported being "advised it was open" when specifically calling about the pool, only to find it closed upon arrival, along with the fitness center and hot tub. The hot tub, in particular, has reportedly "been closed for years due to covid" and is said to be "under construction," a claim heard on "prior stays," pointing to a prolonged closure. This significant discrepancy between advertised or promised services and actual availability is a major concern for potential guests.
The features of The Woodlands Inn and Resort are extensive, aiming to provide a comprehensive experience. The resort typically offers various room types, including king-size suites. Standard room amenities often include basic comforts, though some may appear "dated." The resort is known for its on-site entertainment, particularly its nightclubs, which can be a draw for those seeking nightlife. Dining options extend beyond the Hibachi restaurant, likely including a more casual breakfast area and potentially other bars or eateries. For recreation, the resort is advertised with an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a fitness center. However, as noted in recent reviews, these facilities may be unexpectedly closed due to maintenance or other issues, sometimes for extended periods. Guests looking to utilize these specific features should verify their operational status directly with the resort prior to booking. The property also features outdoor spaces, potentially including a courtyard, which some rooms may overlook. Free Wi-Fi is generally available for guests. Given its event capabilities, the resort boasts significant meeting and banquet facilities, likely equipped with necessary audio/visual equipment.
The location of The Woodlands Inn and Resort at 1073 PA-315 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is strategically advantageous. It is situated directly across the street from Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, making it an extremely convenient choice for those visiting the casino and racetrack. This proximity allows guests to easily access gambling, dining, and entertainment options without a long commute. The resort is also close to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, a major venue for concerts, sporting events, and other large gatherings, attracting a wide audience.
Beyond the immediate entertainment complex, the resort's location provides good access to other regional attractions and transportation hubs. It is conveniently located off major highways like I-81 and Route 309, facilitating travel to and from the area. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is a relatively short drive away, providing air travel connectivity. The city of Wilkes-Barre itself offers various cultural and historical sites, including Wilkes University and King's College. The surrounding Pocono Mountains region is known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, although the immediate vicinity of the resort is more commercial and entertainment-focused. The area around PA-315 also features various dining and shopping options within a short drive.
Promotional information for The Woodlands Inn and Resort often emphasizes its comprehensive offerings: "Stay, Dine, Play." It highlights its versatility as a wedding venue, conference center, and entertainment hub. The presence of multiple restaurants, including Hibachi, and vibrant nightclubs are key promotional points. The inclusion of amenities like an indoor pool and hot tub is also a draw for leisure travelers. However, prospective guests are strongly advised to exercise caution and directly confirm the operational status of all desired amenities, especially the pool, hot tub, and fitness center, as recent guest feedback indicates significant and recurring issues with their availability. Promotions might include special packages for events, romantic getaways, or entertainment bundles. The resort's large capacity and diverse facilities make it suitable for group bookings and larger events. While the pictures may convey a grand vision, guests should consider recent reviews that suggest the reality of the facilities' condition and availability might differ from promotional imagery, especially for off-season visits. The resort has "so much potential," but its current state requires careful consideration from potential visitors.

Apr 29, 2025 · Douglas KrajnykChose based on pictures — not what we saw or enjoyed. Drove 4.5 hours to hear indoor pool closed due to some spark thing occurred just the day before. It looked out of service much longer than that. We would’ve chose 3 other hotels anywhere else had FB had some update. Nicest things were front lobby and night-out dancing/entertainment. Went off season. Our room had nice view to courtyard but opposite from patio bar pics none of which is open at this time. Water leaking from ceiling in hallway to breakfast. Hotel is large and so much potential but in need of a lot of maintenance. Must be better in summer.
May 09, 2025 · KBWell I would have to say it's a hidden gem. Me and my wife went for a weekend getaway. Very cool place. Pools. Bars right on site. Super friendly staff. Clean throughout. Rooms need alittle updating. But otherwise an amazing place to stay.
Apr 13, 2025 · M BNot what it used to be. It's getting better, but it's still not quite there yet. Staff no longer dresses very professionally. They used to always dress in black. Now, sweatpants and ratty sweaters seem to be the norm. The room and the hotel itself need a big cleaning and overhaul. It's really starting to look dated. Not the luxury resort it used to be.
Apr 22, 2025 · Kimberly ShawThe rooms weren't that great. The beds were way too soft. The newer air conditioning units they put in were just installed into the place where the old ones were. This allowed noise and the weather from the outside into the room. However, the staff were great! There was plenty to do on site, including bars, restaurants, and clubs. The food was actually really good, too.
