Upon arrival, the lobby had an odd smell and the hallway carpet in the stairwell wasn't at all vacuumed. The room was a good size but there was a bag tied around the smoke detector (likely from previous guests) and a bunch of hair ties on the shelf in the bathroom, which to me means the place wasn't super-cleaned between stays. We also had to buy wifi ($6) which didn't even last the full 24 hours we paid for, and there were several people yelling in the hallway in the middle of the night through pretty thin walls.

Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport Introduce

Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport, located at 901 Dick Rd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225, USA, falls under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, specifically catering to those requiring longer-term accommodations. This hotel aims to provide a "home away from home" experience, making it suitable for business travelers, individuals relocating, or anyone on an extended visit to the Buffalo area. Its strategic location offers proximity to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) and major thoroughfares like I-90, enhancing its appeal for travelers.

The hotel is designed with extended stays in mind, offering amenities that support self-sufficiency and comfort over longer durations. While its official contact numbers are (716) 259-1616 and +1 716-259-1616, it's important for potential guests to consider a holistic view of the property, including both its intended features and past guest experiences.

Environment and Ambiance:

Extended Stay America properties generally focus on functionality and practicality for longer stays rather than luxury. The ambiance of Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport, as described by some guests, can be mixed. While the lobby may present a certain impression, some reviews mention an "odd smell" upon arrival and issues with general cleanliness in common areas like stairwell carpets. The hotel has been described as having a two-floor, 100-room layout. It is a smoke-free property.

The hotel provides a communal living room and a fireplace in the lobby, aiming to create a welcoming atmosphere. However, individual guest experiences suggest that noise can be a factor, with reports of "people yelling in the hallway in the middle of the night through pretty thin walls." This indicates that while the hotel tries to offer communal spaces, the overall quietness and peacefulness might vary. The property was most recently renovated in 2023, suggesting ongoing efforts to maintain and improve its condition.

Services and Amenities:

Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport offers a range of services designed to facilitate longer stays. A key amenity is the complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, which typically includes coffee, muffins, and oatmeal packets, served daily from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the limited options, suggesting it might not be sufficient for all. The front desk operates 24 hours a day, offering express check-in and check-out, luggage storage, and safety deposit boxes for convenience.

For connectivity, the hotel offers free WiFi in both public areas and guest rooms. Official information indicates a speed of 100+ Mbps, suitable for multiple devices. However, some past guests have reported issues with the internet service, including having to pay for Wi-Fi that did not last for the full duration paid for. Housekeeping services are provided on request for daily charges, with full service cleaning once a week for stays of 8 or more nights. For stays of one to seven nights, fresh towels and linens can be exchanged at the front desk. Additional full service cleaning can be purchased for $10 per cleaning, and a refresh service for $5 per service.

Recreational amenities include an indoor heated pool (open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM) and a 24-hour fitness center, allowing guests to relax and maintain their routines. There are also vending machines for snacks and beverages, and self-serve laundry facilities, which are essential for extended stays. The hotel provides free self-parking on site, with long-term parking available behind the building. For airport transfers, the hotel does offer an airport shuttle service, which runs on demand from 4:00 AM to 12:00 AM. Guests are advised to call the hotel to coordinate pick-up, especially upon arrival at the airport.

The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing two dogs or cats per room, with a maximum weight of 75 lbs per pet. There is an additional fee of $25 plus tax per pet for stays of 1 to 6 nights, and $10 plus tax per pet, per night thereafter. Service animals are exempt from fees. Restrictions may apply to leaving pets unattended in the room. This is a significant benefit for travelers with pets seeking extended accommodations.

Features of the Suites:

The suites at Extended Stay America are designed to provide apartment-like living for guests. The hotel features 100 rooms, typically studio configurations, offering a minimum of 366 sq ft (34 m²). Each suite is equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, a primary feature for extended stays. The kitchens typically include:

  • Full-sized refrigerator

  • Stovetop
  • Coffee/tea maker

Other room amenities include flat-screen televisions with premium cable channels, a desk with an ergonomic chair, an in-room safe (laptop-compatible), iron/ironing board, and climate-controlled air conditioning/heating. Bathrooms come with a bathtub or shower, complimentary toiletries, and a hairdryer. While rooms are designed to be functional, some guest reviews have mentioned concerns about cleanliness, such as finding "a bag tied around the smoke detector" and "hair ties on the shelf in the bathroom," suggesting inconsistent deep cleaning between stays. Other reviews indicate that bedrooms and bathrooms were "not cleaned."

Guests can choose between rooms with one king bed or two double beds, accommodating up to 4 guests. Cribs/infant beds are available upon request. Rollaway/extra beds are not available. Accessible rooms with features like roll-in showers are also available.

Promotional Information and Unique Selling Points:

Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport's main promotional appeal lies in its value for longer stays. The "STAY longer. Save more." discount program is a key selling point, offering reduced rates for extended periods. The fully equipped kitchens in every suite enable guests to prepare their own meals, leading to significant cost savings compared to dining out, which is a major advantage for budget-conscious travelers on long trips. The hotel also often promotes its free grab-and-go breakfast and free in-room WiFi.

The hotel's location is beneficial for airport access (an approximate 8-minute drive from BUF) and proximity to major attractions. It is within a 10-minute drive of Walden Galleria Mall (approximately 1.7 miles away), offering extensive shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Other nearby attractions include Diamond Hawk Golf Course (2 miles), the Buffalo Zoo (9-minute drive), the University at Buffalo North Campus (9-minute drive), and the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, all within a short driving distance. For those looking to explore further, Niagara Falls is approximately 30 minutes away.

While the hotel strives to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for extended stays, potential guests should be aware of some of the challenges highlighted in reviews. These include issues with staff professionalism, inconsistent cleanliness, limited breakfast options, and potential noise disturbances due to thin walls. However, for travelers seeking a functional, self-sufficient, and generally affordable base near the Buffalo Airport for an extended period, particularly those traveling with pets, Extended Stay America Suites Buffalo - Airport offers a practical solution, emphasizing its features as an extended stay option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category.

Extremely disappointed for booking this place. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The receptionist is extremely unprofessional and irresponsible. He yelled at us as he could not find our hotel reservation (despite the fact that we provided a proof of hotel reservation) and insisted that we talked to the online customer service outside of business hours. After almost an hour of a back and forth discussion, we indeed booked 2 rooms per our reservation and it could have been easily confirmed through the reservation number#, phone number or email (which he did not check at the first place). Bedroom and bathroom were not cleaned. Breakfast offered is only coffee and muffin. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, this place is definitely not your option.

If you’re looking for a “smoke-free” hotel, this is not it. From the moment we walked in, we were hit with an overwhelming and unpleasant smell—a strong mix of cigarettes and marijuana. Our room also reeked of smoke, as did the hallways. We asked the front desk if we could move rooms (I have asthma), and to his credit, he politely agreed. Unfortunately, the second room was just as bad—like someone had been chain-smoking inside. When we went back to request a refund due to the unbearable smell, poor cleanliness, and general lack of safety, the front desk staff’s attitude changed dramatically. He became rude and dismissive, telling us to just use Febreze to get rid of the odor—which, frankly, makes it clear this is a known and recurring issue. We had no choice but to leave and find another hotel for our own health and comfort. We’re now waiting for a response from the manager via Expedia for a refund. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

I wish I looked at the reviews for this place. I came in after a 8hr drive in the rain and I must say this is the most disgusting unsafe place I’ve ever personally seen and I’ve traveled to so many places in the world. I will be writing a longer review and providing more details and videos on this experience. However it is a fire hazard. It’s really dirty and the smell is overwhelming. The exit doors does not work… I could go on and on. Apparently the manager does not have a phone number but a Gmail email to reach out. I will be writing an official complaint soon as I return from my trip. This place should be shut down.

We arrived at this hotel around 11 PM, but the door was locked. We waited outside for about two minutes until the front desk attendant finally came to open it, wearing a stern expression and not even acknowledging our greeting. Then, she asked me to make a payment, even though I had already paid. When I tried to show proof, she rudely insisted that I pay again. I had to call Booking, and it took an hour to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, she left other hotel guests waiting outside as well. When I pointed out that there were people at the door, she just told me to let them in myself. Having gotten used to the friendly and welcoming people in the U.S., this was by far the rudest experience I’ve had. This happened on March 14, 2025, between 11 PM and midnight.
