Very good location, cleanliness and building, but awful customer service. We had a 4 night stay with 2 adults and 2 kids. We saw some bad reviews, but most seemed to be in the past. We booked a one bedroom and our door was missing. We let them know right away but it was never resolved. The neighbour next to us also had their fridge not working and their issue was also never resolved. The pull out sofa bed was also the worst and they only offered to pay more money to bring in a roller bed.
For individuals and families in Boston seeking "Hotels Near Me" that offer more than just a standard hotel room, Global Luxury Suites Downtown Boston at 8 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02111, USA, provides an enticing alternative with its apartment-style accommodations. Situated in the vibrant heart of the city, particularly within the bustling Chinatown district, this property caters to those who desire the comforts and conveniences of a home away from home while still being steps away from Boston's major attractions. This introduction will provide a detailed and objective overview of what guests can expect, focusing on its environment, services, features, and any relevant promotional information, based on available customer feedback and online details.
Environment and Building: A Blend of Location and Modernity
The Global Luxury Suites Downtown Boston enjoys a "very good location," as consistently highlighted by guests. Its address at 8 Harrison Ave places it directly in Chinatown, offering immediate access to an array of diverse dining options and a lively cultural atmosphere. More importantly, it's "incredibly convenient to explore all the major attractions," with "everything just a short walk away." This includes popular restaurants, cultural landmarks, and proximity to the Theater District, Boston Common, and Downtown Crossing. Several reviews praise the "building" itself, describing it as "beautiful, modern, well appointed," and appreciating its "newly renovated units." The interior design of the suites is characterized by "luxurious decor, high ceilings, and large windows," creating a bright and airy feel. While located in a bustling area, the property aims to provide a "peaceful, quiet oasis" within its walls. The building also emphasizes security, with features like key access and a 24-hour front desk, ensuring a sense of safety for its residents.
Apartment Features and Comfort: Home Away From Home Amenities
What truly sets Global Luxury Suites apart is its apartment-style offerings, designed for extended stays and family comfort. Each suite features a "full kitchen with stainless steel appliances," including a refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave, and dishwasher, stocked with "dishes, cutlery, and cookware." This is a significant advantage for those who prefer to prepare their own meals. In-unit "washer and dryer facilities" are also a common and highly appreciated feature, especially for longer stays. The rooms themselves are noted for being "impeccably clean and well-maintained," contributing to a "comfortable and relaxing stay." Beds are described as "comfortable," though one review mentions a "pull out sofa bed was also the worst," suggesting that this particular amenity might vary in quality. Smart TVs with cable programming provide entertainment, and complimentary wireless internet access is available, though some reviews mention limited streaming options. The bathrooms are generally clean, though some feedback indicates a need for more amenities like toilet paper holders or shelves in the shower. Overall, the spacious layouts, high ceilings, and separate living and dining areas offer a comfortable and functional living space, distinguishing it from a traditional hotel room.
Services and Customer Experience: A Mixed Bag
Customer service at Global Luxury Suites Downtown Boston appears to be a point of significant variation in guest experiences. While some reviews enthusiastically praise "excellent facilities and location" and describe the staff as "nice and helpful," another prominent review explicitly states "awful customer service." This feedback includes issues with unresolved maintenance requests, such as a missing door and a non-working fridge, and a lack of flexible solutions when a pull-out sofa bed was uncomfortable, only offering a paid "roller bed." Conversely, other guests highlight "friendly staff" and a "very good service" overall. The housekeeping staff is commended for doing a "fantastic job keeping everything spotless." The property offers a 24-hour front desk, a 24-hour business center, concierge services, and multilingual staff, which are standard amenities for this type of establishment. However, the inconsistency in customer service experiences is a crucial factor for potential guests to consider. It's noted that "housekeeping is offered on request," implying it's not a daily automatic service like in a traditional hotel, which is typical for serviced apartments.
Location Advantages: Unbeatable Access to Boston
The location at 8 Harrison Ave is consistently rated as a major highlight. Being "right in the heart of the city" in Chinatown means immediate access to a wide array of authentic Asian cuisine and vibrant street life. The property is a short walk from major attractions such as Boston Common, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and the Theater District. Public transportation is highly accessible, with the Chinatown T Stop and Boylston Station just steps away, making it incredibly convenient to explore the broader city without a car. This prime location makes it an ideal base for both tourists and business travelers needing easy access to Boston's core.

Nov 18, 2024 · Hector MendezBooked a stay with these folk but then got pneumonia and couldn’t travel. Cancelled my reservation 72 hours in advance but they take the no refund very seriously and still charged me the full amount which was around $1,500. Would not recommend booking here as most organizations would understand you can’t travel with pneumonia
Mar 06, 2025 · Chris TveterIf I could rate zero stars I would. This place cancelled our booking the day we weee suppose to arrive, today! We are at the airport with no place to stay. They claim they have no reason but told Expedia I was blacklisted. I’m not sure how since this is my first time visiting Boston and maybe my last. This place has horrible customer service and lack transparency. As a tourist, beware because my booking was confirmed since 12/23 they provided a room number and check in instructions, I payed in full, and now my family of 4 has to scramble to find a hotel for our 6 night stay. Never would book this place and I will report them to the better business bureau for investigation.
Dec 27, 2024 · Marco MarquezWe stayed here for almost 2 weeks, so I feel I can give a pretty accurate review. We read other reviews prior to booking and felt they were pretty accurate in their own ways based on the units they got. Good: 1. Yes this place is right in downtown Boston and very walkable. Lots of restaurants within a few min walk. Nearby felt safe. Uber drops right off in front. 2. The place we got is the 1 BR option. All Bosch appliances inducing washer and dryer. All working. We didn't try the dishwasher, though. 3. Spacious and generally pretty clean. Basic number of dishes, cups, and utensils. 4. Price is good for the space and location. 5. Again, this place is very spacious and comfortable. There was more than enough space for two of us. I worked during the day, and my wife had plenty of space in the dining room and other areas. 6. Overall I think we really lucked out and had a good long stay. It's a great location, easy walk to many restaurants, in a safe area, and with good price. To improve.. 1. We realized this building must have many other units for rent. Our unit was good, but others might not. The maintenance guy came in for inspection and said our unit was one of the better ones. 2. Shower curtain too high and there was evidence of prior water damage. I unhooked a few hooks of the curtain to let it hang lower so that water wouldn't splash outside. The maintenance guy said they knew this issue and appreciated my effort to keep the water not to splash out. 3. Bathroom first smelled moldy. I figured out it was coming from the sink and shower drain. I bought a bottle of bleach at a grocery store and fixed it. 4. Internet was at times slow. It made work zoom call challenging. 5. Workout room has been closed for a few years due to COVID. It"s time to open back up! I had to sign up at a local gym for a month. 6. You need to clean pretty much everything when moving out, think a regular apartment moveout. This is not a hotel. We cleaned up everything except washing towels and linens. 7. Booking directly through Global Suites would have been more expensive than through Expedia or Airbnb, even for extending the stays. Long wait time on call center.
