First of all, be warned when booking that you will be charged $35 a night for a “destination fee” on top of booking - although this appears uniform across all major hotels in Boston, complete scam if you ask me. It must also be noted we saw a mouse scarpering about the restaurant floor where breakfast was being served. This drops it down a whole star, even if they weren’t as far as the rooms (but if they made it 3 floors up to the restaurant it could be possible). Anyway, regarding the rooms, having been recently refurbished, for the price they could be a bit nicer. They were well appointed with reasonably comfortable beds and good pillows. The room had a mini fridge which was very useful. Telly was ok with good sports and film options but no streaming/youtube disappointingly for a recently refurbished hotel. The bathroom was clean and comfortable, and the shower was fine in terms of temperature and pressure. The service was fine, with cleaners being thorough and coming every day. People on check in were generally friendly. Restaurant staff were ok. The location was good, in striking distance of all major sights, via walking or transport with 2 T stations very close by, alongside many cafes and restaurants. Overall a decent hotel but perhaps not worth the price and the mouse sighting is concerning but was a one-off.
For those in Boston searching for "Hotels Near Me," the Hyatt Regency Boston at One Ave de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111, USA, presents a compelling option, situated right in the heart of the city. With its prime location, the hotel offers a blend of modern comfort and accessibility to many of Boston's iconic sights, making it a frequent choice for both visitors and locals seeking a convenient staycation or a place for their out-of-town guests.
The Hyatt Regency Boston is a well-established name in the city's hospitality landscape. Let's delve into what you can expect from this hotel, covering its environment, services, features, and some important considerations regarding pricing and promotions, based on available information and real customer experiences.
Environment and Ambiance:
The hotel boasts a recently refurbished environment, offering a fresh and updated feel. Customers have described the hotel as "beautifully appointed," suggesting attention to detail in its design and decor. The rooms themselves are noted for being "attractive," contributing to a pleasant and welcoming ambiance. While specific details on common areas like the lobby or hallways are not extensively provided in the reviews, the overall impression conveyed is one of modernity and comfort, aligning with the Hyatt Regency brand standard. The central location contributes significantly to its environment, placing guests amidst the vibrant energy of downtown Boston.
Room Features and Comfort:
The guest rooms at the Hyatt Regency Boston have undergone recent refurbishment, aiming to enhance the guest experience. Patrons consistently praise the "comfortable beds and pillows," which is a crucial aspect for a restful stay. Climate control in the rooms is described as "perfect," ensuring guests can set their preferred temperature for optimal comfort. Each room is equipped with a "mini fridge," a very useful amenity for keeping drinks and snacks cool. The television offerings include "good sports and film options," though it's worth noting a common disappointment among recently refurbished hotels: the lack of streaming services like YouTube. The bathrooms are highlighted as "clean and comfortable," with showers providing satisfactory temperature and pressure. While some feel the rooms "could be a bit nicer" for the price, the general consensus is that they are "well appointed" and offer a decent level of comfort.
Services and Hospitality:
The service at the Hyatt Regency Boston generally receives positive remarks. The housekeeping team is consistently described as "thorough and coming every day," ensuring cleanliness and tidiness throughout guests' stays. The front desk staff are noted for being "generally friendly," setting a welcoming tone upon arrival. One review specifically highlights the "outstanding staff" who were "consistently kind & helpful from the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant," whether assistance was sought over the phone or in person. This suggests a strong emphasis on hospitality across various departments, contributing to a "great hospitality" experience. While restaurant staff are noted as "ok" in one review, the overall impression of service seems to lean towards helpfulness and attentiveness.
Location and Accessibility:
The Hyatt Regency Boston's location is undoubtedly one of its strongest selling points. Situated at One Ave de Lafayette, it is in "striking distance of all major sights," providing immense convenience for exploring the city. Guests can easily reach many attractions "via walking or transport." Crucially, there are "2 T stations very close by," offering excellent connectivity to Boston's extensive public transportation network. Beyond tourist attractions, the immediate vicinity also boasts "many cafes and restaurants," providing ample dining options within easy reach. This central and well-connected location is a significant advantage for anyone looking for a hotel with easy access to all that Boston has to offer.
Features and Amenities (Beyond Rooms):
While specific details on all amenities like a gym, pool, or business center are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, a hotel of the Hyatt Regency caliber typically offers a comprehensive range of facilities. The presence of a restaurant where breakfast is served is confirmed, indicating on-site dining options. Given its size and brand, it's reasonable to expect standard amenities such as Wi-Fi access (though the TV streaming limitation is noted), meeting spaces, and potentially a fitness center. For precise details on all available amenities, it would be advisable to check the hotel's official website or contact them directly.
Promotional Information and Pricing Considerations:
It is important for potential guests, especially local users, to be aware of a particular pricing consideration: the "destination fee." Multiple reviews highlight a mandatory "$35 a night for a 'destination fee' on top of booking." While this practice appears to be "uniform across all major hotels in Boston," it is a significant additional cost to factor into the overall price. This fee is often perceived as a "complete scam" by customers, so it's crucial to account for it when budgeting. Promotional information beyond this fee is not provided, but it's always recommended to check the official Hyatt Regency Boston website or popular booking platforms for any current deals or packages that might offset this charge or offer added value.
Important Note and General Impression:
One review mentions a concerning "mouse scarpering about the restaurant floor where breakfast was being served." While this is presented as a "one-off" incident, it's a detail worth noting. The reviewer states it "drops it down a whole star," highlighting its impact on their perception. It's important to remember that such isolated incidents can occur even in reputable establishments, and the review suggests it was not observed in the rooms. Despite this isolated issue, the overall sentiment expressed is that the Hyatt Regency Boston is a "decent hotel." While some feel it might "not be worth the price" considering the destination fee and the mouse sighting, other feedback, such as "one of the best experiences we’ve had staying at a Boston hotel," indicates a generally positive experience for many guests. The recent refurbishment and attentive staff are strong positives.
In summary, the Hyatt Regency Boston, conveniently located for those seeking "Hotels Near Me" in the city center, offers recently refreshed rooms with comfortable amenities, a generally helpful and kind staff, and unparalleled access to Boston's attractions. While the destination fee is a significant pricing factor to consider, and an isolated incident of a mouse sighting was reported, the hotel largely provides a positive and comfortable stay for guests.

Apr 14, 2025 · MatthewNew is nice! Beautifully appointed hotel. Attractive rooms with comfortable beds and pillows. Perfect climate control. An outstanding staff was consistently kind & helpful from the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant, whether on the phone looking for help or in person. Great hospitality. I have to say it was one of the best experiences we’ve had staying at a Boston hotel. Thank-you Hyatt at Ave de Lafayette !
Apr 28, 2025 · Cate RGreat location at the heart of the city, walking distance to the Freedom Trail and Boston Commons park. The rooms are clean but we couldn’t reach anyone when we tried calling the front desk for anything. I was able to flag down a housekeeper in the hallway to fetch towels myself from her housekeeping cart! This was the reason I gave 4/5 stars. Otherwise, the hotel was a comfortable, convenient, and the staff was friendly. I will come back for another stay at this location.
May 14, 2025 · Rosa TorrezI’ve never felt compelled to write a review for a hotel before, but our experiencing at the Hyatt Regency Boston was so overwhelmingly positive- every employee we interacted with was happy, friendly and accommodating and they really made our one-night stay a night we will not soon forget. The location is perfect for a dinner and a show at one of the nearby theaters, and the rooms are well designed and comfortable. The gym was also one of the best hotel gyms I have experienced
Apr 28, 2025 · Anthony BuonoI came here for a quick stay in between travels. Wonderful spot to rest, close to the park and tourist attractions. The service here is really wonderful. Friendly and attentive service at breakfast. Shout out to the Globalist team and Madame Manager for helping me out when I wasn't feeling well. :)
