The room was okay. No sign of any bugs (from previous reviews). But the sheets, blanket, and pillow all had stains. While they seemed clean they certainly didn’t make us feel clean. But I’m not sure where the friendliness or good customer service was. We were going to pay on our card for our room, and we’re told we needed a 100$ CASH deposit for damage. Not sure why they couldn’t put a hold on the Credit card instead? It seems like there was one issue after another. Next time I’ll pay a little more and get a nicer hotel. It will be worth it for the clean stain free-bedding and good night sleep.
For Arizona locals seeking a truly budget-friendly accommodation option in the East Valley, the Grand Hotel in Mesa presents itself as a potential choice. When travel plans call for an economical stay, whether it’s for a quick overnight trip, visiting family on a tight budget, or a temporary stopover, value often becomes the top priority. The Grand Hotel aims to cater to this need, positioning itself as a no-frills option for travelers who prioritize affordability above extensive amenities or luxury. As local users, understanding the nature of budget hotels and managing expectations based on real customer experiences is crucial to a satisfying stay. This article will provide a factual overview of the Grand Hotel, drawing from publicly available information and candid guest reviews, to help you determine if it aligns with your specific requirements for a stay in Mesa.
The Grand Hotel is characterized by its focus on providing essential lodging at a competitive price point. Unlike full-service resorts or upscale hotels, its offerings are streamlined to keep costs down. This often translates to basic amenities and a straightforward approach to hospitality. While this can be a boon for those on a strict budget, it also means that certain expectations typically associated with higher-priced accommodations, such as pristine conditions or extensive services, may not be met. Guests often report a wide range of experiences, highlighting both the practical advantages of its low cost and the challenges that can arise from its budget-tier positioning. It’s important for Arizonans to approach a booking here with an informed perspective, balancing the appeal of affordability with the potential for inconsistencies in guest experience.
The Grand Hotel is located at 6733 E Main St, Mesa, AZ 85205, USA. This address places it in East Mesa, along a significant thoroughfare. Main Street provides direct and relatively easy access to various parts of Mesa and connects to major roads and freeways in the wider Phoenix metropolitan area, including the US-60 and Loop 202. This makes it reasonably convenient for travelers arriving from different parts of Arizona or those needing to navigate across the East Valley. One reviewer noted its location as being "good" in terms of its accessibility, particularly for budget travelers.
The immediate vicinity of the Grand Hotel along East Main Street typically includes a mix of local businesses, dining options, and residential areas. While not directly adjacent to major tourist attractions, its location offers access to essential amenities like grocery stores and pharmacies within a short driving distance. Points of interest such as the Superstition Springs Center, various golf courses, and outdoor recreational areas in the Superstition Mountains are accessible by car. The hotel offers "a lot of parking" which is "free," a significant benefit for guests traveling with their own vehicles. However, it's worth noting that some broader reviews for this hotel (not explicitly provided in your input, but found in public data) have mentioned concerns about the "neighborhood" or "sketchy individuals" in the vicinity, which is something for locals to be mindful of, though the provided reviews do not directly comment on this specific aspect of the location's safety beyond the hotel itself. Free self-parking is available on site.

Due to the nature of this type of hotel, it's unlikely to have complex loyalty programs or extensive package deals. Given the specific feedback regarding cleanliness and the cash deposit policy, it is highly recommended to call the hotel directly before booking to clarify these points, especially the cash deposit requirement, and to ensure your expectations align with what the hotel currently offers. Open communication can help avoid misunderstandings upon arrival.
For Arizona locals, the Grand Hotel in Mesa is most suitable for those who are explicitly "on a tight budget" and for whom the absolute lowest price is the primary deciding factor. If you require a place to sleep that offers basic amenities like air conditioning, a TV, and the option of a refrigerator and microwave, and you are prepared to potentially overlook or address significant cleanliness issues, then this hotel might serve its purpose. The willingness of the front desk staff to resolve issues, as demonstrated by the full refund given in one dire situation, is a notable positive point for problem resolution. However, locals should enter this booking with very low expectations regarding the overall condition and hygiene of the rooms, as the strong negative feedback on cleanliness and the presence of a cash deposit policy suggest a very basic, no-frills experience. It is crucial to weigh the savings against the potential for an uncomfortable stay, and to be prepared to communicate any issues immediately upon check-in. For those who prioritize a spotless environment or modern comforts, it would be "worth it to pay a little more and get a nicer hotel," as one reviewer concluded.

Jun 20, 2021 · Jessica McReadsAlotSo the place is cheap. Good for travelers on a tight budget. That being said, I’d rate it a one star due to the cleanliness of the room when we checked in. It smelled funky, it was clear it hadn’t been vacuumed since the last guest, there was a mess in the fridge, broken glass on the accent chair, and blood on the bathroom floor. The thing that saved my rating was the customer service, which I’d give five stars. We didn’t feel comfortable staying so I called the guy at the front desk to see if we could get a refund. He said he couldn’t do it for the first night since it was a no cancellation reservation, but said he’d take off the second night and give us a different room. We didn’t want to stay but we’re fine with the partial refund. He came up to our room to see the situation as we gathering our luggage and upon seeing the mess, ended up giving us a full refund, for which we’re very grateful. If they could just get house keeping to do a better job it would be a decent enough place to stay on a budget. The ac worked well and the bed seemed comfy.
Apr 10, 2022 · Jenny Aldredwe just recently stay one night paid in cash for two nights with a $100.00 deposit. we were very disappointed. we had stayed here a few months ago and it was great. so we came back again. this time it was a very horrible experience. we had stayed in the room like your own apartment across from the main entrance. loved the room. this time they told us only people staying a week could use those rooms. so we got a room inside (no elevator). the beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were two per bed and hard and flat as a rock. the coke and chips machines were not working, the pool hadn't been cleaned so they were not opening it up to be used. so we decided not to stay a second night. they would not refund our money and even called the police on us. told the police they don't give refunds. police told us to stay another night since we paid already but we said no way. we did get the $100.00 deposit back. they said they were under new management seems to me they need to hire new people to work the offices. the two people (a woman in the beginning and a man when we left) we had to deal with were very unpleasant and even had a pit bull running around loose while we were in the hotel. until they hire new people I wouldn't advise anyone to stay there.
Jun 21, 2021 · Nina StumpIt was not bad actually it was very clean compared to most other hotels around this area. The only problem on hands at that time was that the ice machine did not work at all the whole time I was there. Price wise is okay but they do require a $50 deposit and check out is at 10:00 a.m. crazy what happened to 11:00 a.m. all in all one of the more decent main Street motels.
Jan 30, 2022 · Sean GuerreroIt is an older hotel and you can tell they are making due with what they have. The landscaping is beautiful. No bugs at all. It was quiet and no riff raff, We mostly saw snowbirds and out of state plates. The hallway on the first floor smelled like delicious food everyday from the owners apartment. Owners were all pleasent and the young girl working there was sweet. Overall it was nice stay, I have stayed at WAY worse places for way more money. It's not a luxory hotel but I felt safe and welcomed. I would definitly stay again!
