Super disappointing for as much as I paid for 2 rooms for 3 nights! Nobody bothered to let me know at check in they have 0 (zero) TV service in the rooms! We called the front desk numerous times the first night to let them know neither of our rooms TVs were working but nobody bothered to answer the phone! We tried at different times throughout the night and went down the next morning and asked the front desk only to find out none of the rooms have working TV, only the TV in the lobby is working. Not a good thing for a family with multiple kids. The shower was gross too. Mold all around the bottom of the shower and floor near the doors. The breakfast was no better than what you'd get for free at any other hotel but they wanted $13.99 for it. Definitely not a place we'll use in the future if we get to come back to Hershey area.
For individuals and families seeking accommodations in the Harrisburg-Hershey area, and specifically those utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East by IHG, located at 815 S Eisenhower Blvd, Middletown, PA 17057, USA, presents itself as an option. The hotel can be contacted via phone at (717) 939-1600 or mobile at +1 717-939-1600. This introduction aims to provide an objective assessment of the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East, drawing upon available guest feedback to describe its environment, services, features, and overall suitability for different types of travelers.
The environment of Holiday Inn Harrisburg East by IHG is primarily defined by its location on Eisenhower Blvd, a busy thoroughfare, and its proximity to Harrisburg International Airport (MDT). While the address indicates a Middletown location, it is often associated with Harrisburg due to its close proximity and is marketed as "Harrisburg East." This location can be convenient for travelers flying into or out of MDT, as well as for those visiting attractions in the Harrisburg and Hershey areas. However, guest experiences suggest that the hotel's internal environment and upkeep can be a significant area of concern. Reports of "PVC in the halls and bubbling in my bathroom ceiling" indicate potential issues with the building's maintenance and general aesthetic. This suggests that the hotel's physical state might not consistently meet the expectations associated with the Holiday Inn brand, which typically implies a certain standard of comfort and modernity.
In terms of services, the hotel's performance, particularly concerning customer support and advertised amenities, has been a source of significant disappointment for guests. A major issue reported is the complete lack of TV service in the rooms. Guests were not informed of this at check-in, and attempts to contact the front desk for assistance were met with unresponsiveness, with calls going unanswered "numerous times the first night." Upon inquiry the next morning, it was revealed that "none of the rooms have working TV, only the TV in the lobby is working." This is a significant deficiency, especially for families with children who rely on in-room entertainment. Furthermore, the hotel's advertised airport shuttle service has also been a point of failure. Despite being less than 2.5 miles from the airport and the hotel's site stating shuttle availability from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, a guest experienced a complete lack of follow-up after calling for a shuttle, leading them to rent a car for transportation. This indicates a serious disconnect between advertised services and actual delivery, which can be highly disruptive to travel plans.
The hotel offers a breakfast service, but it comes with a considerable surcharge, costing "$13.99." Guest feedback indicates that this breakfast is "no better than what you'd get for free at any other hotel," suggesting that the value for money is low. This can be a deterrent for guests who expect either a complimentary breakfast or a high-quality, worthwhile paid option. The hotel does have 117 guestrooms and offers amenities like free Wi-Fi, which is a standard expectation. Other listed amenities include an indoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. While these amenities are advertised, the general tone of the reviews, particularly regarding maintenance and service, may lead one to question their condition or consistent availability.
Regarding the features of the rooms, while not extensively detailed, the primary concern revolves around cleanliness and functionality. One guest described the shower as "gross too," with "mold all around the bottom of the shower and floor near the doors." This indicates a severe issue with bathroom hygiene. Such conditions are unacceptable in any hotel, especially one bearing the IHG brand name. The complete lack of functioning TVs in multiple rooms, as reported by a guest, points to a widespread issue with in-room entertainment features. These significant flaws in basic room conditions directly impact guest comfort and satisfaction, raising serious questions about the hotel's adherence to cleanliness and operational standards.
The overall promotional information and general perception of the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East by IHG appear to be significantly undermined by the actual guest experiences. Despite being part of a reputable brand like IHG, the issues raised regarding non-functional TVs, lack of shuttle service, and poor room cleanliness contradict the expectations associated with such a chain. Guests who paid a considerable amount for their stay expressed "super disappointing" sentiments, feeling that the value received did not align with the price paid. The strong statement "Definitely not a place we'll use in the future if we get to come back to Hershey area" from a family with kids highlights the severe impact these issues have on guest loyalty and willingness to return.
In conclusion, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East by IHG, as a "Hotels Near Of Me" option, presents a problematic and often disappointing experience for guests. While its location near the airport and attractions in the Harrisburg-Hershey area might seem convenient, the severe shortcomings in fundamental services and room conditions overshadow any potential benefits. The consistent failure of basic amenities like in-room television, the unreliability of advertised services such as the airport shuttle, and alarming reports of uncleanliness and mold in bathrooms are significant red flags. Furthermore, the perceived poor value for a paid breakfast further detracts from the overall guest experience. Therefore, while the hotel might technically appear in searches for accommodations in the area, potential guests are strongly advised to carefully consider these widespread and critical issues before booking, as it may not deliver the expected standards of a Holiday Inn property and could lead to a highly unsatisfactory stay.

Apr 04, 2025 · Ashley McCulleyOne would think after 35 years in the travel industry, i would know if a hotel was less than 2.5 miles from the airport they’d have a shuttle. Arrived yesterday at 2pm, returned the rental car and then called the hotel for the shuttle. I called and said can you send the shuttle? He said are you there now? Yes, I’m literally sitting in baggage claim. He said let me call the service and I’ll call you right back. That was at 248pm yesterday, it’s the next day at 717pm, no phone call. Your site says M-F 6am-10pm daily. I ended up renting a car so I could be sure of transportation on my departure the next day. I would love to add photos of the PVC in the halls and bubbling in my bathroom ceiling. Ughhhhh
May 10, 2025 · Cheryl LovelaceThis hotel was respectfully the worst I have experienced. When we had first arrived and opened the door to our room, it was obviously not cleaned; there were multiple towels everywhere and the sheets were all undone. Thankfully, the kind lady at the front desk switched our room and upgraded it. This room was better than the previous, yet, there was an awful cigarette/smoke smell that lingered throughout our two night stay. The bathroom was dark and dingy and we did not want to take a shower there. The walls were mysteriously stained with something that only the light would reveal. The charging sockets were surrounded by a gooey crusty substance. Not to mention the pool is gross. The only positive amenity of this hotel was the mini arcade with rigged claw machines because whenever we actually retrieved a prize despite the scuffed claw, all of the kids would get excited. Additionally, it was close enough to Hershey Park, so that’s a plus. Overall, this hotel was extremely dirty and I personally would not recommend.
Dec 31, 2024 · Gm GiglioOur stay at Holiday Inn Harrisburg East, an IHG Hotel, was an absolute nightmare. The conditions of the hotel were beyond unacceptable and made for one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. First and foremost, our room had BED BUGS, and my 7-year-old was bitten multiple times. The sight of bed bugs crawling around is horrifying, but the bites on my child were even more distressing. On top of that, the room was filthy, with holes in the walls, rusty fixtures, a broken toilet paper holder, and a non-functioning TV. We weren’t the only ones to suffer. Our friends’ room had an overflowing toilet, a strong fishy smell, and mold in the shower. These conditions are not only disgusting but also a severe health risk. To make matters worse, the manager at the hotel was completely unhelpful. When I tried to bring these issues to their attention, they blew me off, didn’t apologize, and showed no effort to resolve the situation. Their indifference was just as appalling as the conditions of the hotel. This disaster disrupted our entire stay. Some members of our group had to change hotels, forcing our team to split up and creating unnecessary stress and inconvenience. Instead of focusing on our event, we spent our night scrambling to find alternative accommodations. I also noticed numerous reviews online mentioning similar issues, including bed bugs and poor cleanliness, so it’s clear that this is a recurring problem that the management refuses to address. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s unsafe, unsanitary, and managed poorly. We deserve a full refund at the very least, and I hope Holiday Inn Corporate takes action to prevent others from going through this unacceptable experience.
Jan 20, 2025 · Kelsey MariglianoThe room was fine, but before I booked the room I called to make sure they had an indoor pool, AND if it was up and running. They said yes to both. I got there to find out their pool was closed for maintenance. I paid $139 for the room, then they tell me there’s also a $50 security deposit I’ll get back when I checkout. I ended up canceling my reservation for a refund. It’s been almost 3 weeks and I symtill have not received my refund, or even the $50 security deposit!
