This place is such a treasure. They are currently rebuilding from hurricane Helene damage, and they have done an amazing job. The tubs and surrounding privacy cabanas are new and beautiful. There are fans and heaters in the cabanas, and the river and foliage are as beautiful as ever. They recently extended their hours and are now open every day. The employees were all incredibly sweet. Highly recommend visiting!

Hot Springs Resort And Spa Introduce

For us North Carolinians, the appeal of the mountains goes beyond scenic vistas; it's about connecting with nature, finding tranquility, and often, discovering unique experiences right in our own backyard. Nestled amidst the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the charming town that shares its name, lies a true local treasure: Hot Springs Resort And Spa. This destination is not just a place to stay; it's an immersive experience centered around the legendary healing powers of natural mineral waters, a tradition that has drawn visitors for centuries. It’s a place where history, nature, and rejuvenation converge.

Hot Springs Resort And Spa offers a distinct alternative to conventional hotels. Its primary allure lies in its private, open-air hot tubs filled with natural geothermal mineral water, situated directly along the serene banks of the French Broad River. Unlike many commercial spas, the focus here is on the therapeutic properties of the naturally occurring spring water, which emerges from the Earth at a soothing temperature. Guests can rent these individual tubs, complete with private cabanas, allowing for a deeply personal and relaxing soak while surrounded by the sounds of the river and lush mountain foliage. It's an opportunity to truly unwind and let the mineral-rich waters work their magic.

It's important to acknowledge that Hot Springs Resort And Spa has faced challenges, notably from Hurricane Helene. However, as noted by enthusiastic past guests, the spirit of this place is resilient. There has been an "amazing job" done in rebuilding, with new and beautiful tubs and surrounding cabanas. The commitment to reopening and expanding reflects the enduring appeal and importance of these healing waters to both visitors and the local community. The resort offers various accommodation options, from campground sites to cabins and suites, though availability may be impacted by ongoing reconstruction efforts. Regardless of your chosen lodging, the star attraction remains the opportunity to "unwind" in these "healing waters" within a "gorgeous setting."

Location and Accessibility

Hot Springs Resort And Spa is idyllically located at 315 Bridge St, Hot Springs, NC 28743, USA. This precise address places you right in the heart of the quaint and historic town of Hot Springs, Western North Carolina, offering a unique blend of small-town charm and immediate access to renowned natural attractions.

One of the most significant advantages of this location is its direct connection to the Appalachian Trail (AT). Hot Springs is one of the few towns through which the AT directly passes, making the resort a popular and often revered stop for hikers seeking respite and rejuvenation in the mineral baths. This also means fantastic opportunities for day hikes for visitors who want to experience a portion of the iconic trail.

The resort's position along the French Broad River is another defining feature. Many of the private hot tubs are situated right on the riverbank, offering incredible views and the soothing sounds of the flowing water. The river also provides opportunities for kayaking, tubing, and fishing, adding to the outdoor recreational appeal.

While Hot Springs itself offers a charming village atmosphere with local shops, restaurants, and outfitters, its proximity to larger Western North Carolina hubs is also convenient:

  • Asheville: The vibrant city of Asheville, known for its arts, breweries, Biltmore Estate, and culinary scene, is approximately a 45-minute to an hour's drive away. This allows guests to easily combine the tranquility of Hot Springs with the urban excitement of Asheville for a well-rounded vacation.
  • Outdoor Recreation: Beyond the Appalachian Trail and French Broad River, the surrounding Pisgah National Forest offers countless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and exploring waterfalls. The location is a gateway to true Appalachian adventures.

Access to Hot Springs is generally straightforward, primarily via scenic mountain roads. Parking is available on-site, though it can sometimes be limited during peak times, especially for those only visiting the tubs. The small, walkable nature of Hot Springs town also means many local amenities are within easy reach from the resort.

Services Offered

Hot Springs Resort And Spa focuses on providing an authentic hot springs experience, complemented by various accommodation options and related wellness services:

  • Natural Mineral Baths: The core offering. Guests can rent private, outdoor jetted tubs (often referred to as "cabanas" due to their privacy screens) filled with 100% natural, untreated mineral water from underground springs. These tubs are available by appointment and are typically for 1-4 people, though larger tubs may be available. The water is consistently praised for its healing and relaxing properties.
  • Privacy Cabanas: Each private tub is situated within its own cabana, offering a secluded and intimate bathing experience. These cabanas often include features like fans and heaters for comfort in various weather conditions.
  • Various Accommodations: The resort offers a range of lodging options to suit different preferences and budgets, including:
    • Campground Sites: Both tent and RV sites are available for a rustic outdoor experience.
    • Cabins: Cozy, rustic cabins provide a more secluded lodging option.
    • Suites: More traditional motel-style rooms and larger suites for those seeking standard comforts.
    • River Cottages: Unique lodging directly on the river.
(Note: Due to past hurricane damage, specific availability of all accommodation types may vary as rebuilding efforts continue. It is advisable to confirm current offerings when booking.)
  • Spa Services: While the natural baths are the primary draw, the resort also offers a variety of massage and bodywork treatments to enhance the relaxation and therapeutic benefits of the mineral water.
  • Gift Shop/Store: A small on-site store may offer essentials, local crafts, and products related to the hot springs experience.
  • Pet-Friendly Options: The resort typically has designated pet-friendly accommodations and policies, allowing well-behaved dogs to join their owners (often with a fee). This is a significant plus for many visitors to the area.
  • Extended Hours: Recent expansions to operating hours, including being open every day, offer greater flexibility for visitors to enjoy the baths.
  • Attentive Staff: Customer reviews consistently highlight the "incredibly sweet," "attentive," and "kind" employees, contributing to a welcoming and pleasant experience.

Excellent way to unwind. People have come for centuries to get in these healing waters. You will enjoy every moment. The setting is gorgeous. The staff is very attentive and kind. Book them ASAP so they can rebuild after Hurricane Helene. They currently have 4 tubs that survived so get your reservation in. They are gonna come back bigger and stronger.

That's my place of work. I've been there almost a year it's the first job that I actually love. The people there are very nice and friendly I would recommend to come see Hot Springs NC and the spa we have 4 hot tubs opened fri, sat and sun is we are under reconstruction due to the flood last year. But we are strong and are gradually coming back.

I cannot really give an accurate rating on Hot Springs. Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Helene, Hot Springs, NC was completely underwater. The town is still in the recovering and rebuilding stage. We only drove through the town. Other than the traffic passing through and the one convenient store that has reopened, to me it was a ghost town. I can say that pre-Helene, it was a nice little place to visit. I'm sure they'll regain that quaintness. It's just going to take time. I wish them all the best. We will return one day!

We spent a nice hr in clean warm water in the new tubs, soaking, having climbed the lovers leap track. No complaints here.
