This was a "fine" hotel that had all the basic services but not a lot more - unimpressive entrance/lobby; one of the elevators was very scary - screeched along the way but once we got to our room, it was very nice - simple, a little basic but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked great and the living room was nice. The food was "solid" - nothing special, nothing great - traditional hotel fare; great location though - lots of places for shopping/siteseeing/restaurants nearby so very convenient.

The Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia is strategically located in the highly desirable Center City district, just a block from the iconic Rittenhouse Square. This puts guests in the midst of a bustling urban environment, surrounded by Philadelphia's rich array of attractions. The immediate vicinity offers "lots of places for shopping/sightseeing/restaurants nearby," making it "very convenient" for guests to explore on foot. This walkability is a significant environmental advantage, allowing easy access to numerous dining options, retail establishments, cultural sites, and entertainment venues.
The hotel itself embodies a modern, urban aesthetic, characteristic of the Hyatt Centric brand, which focuses on providing a hub for guests to discover the local area. While one review noted an "unimpressive entrance/lobby," the overall design aims for a contemporary and functional feel. The hotel is situated within a high-rise building, common for city hotels, offering city views from its rooms. The vibrant energy of Center City is an integral part of the hotel's environment, appealing to those who enjoy being in the heart of metropolitan life.
The Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia offers a range of basic and essential services designed to cater to the needs of its guests. While some aspects of service received mixed feedback, the hotel generally provides fundamental amenities for a comfortable stay.
Key services include:
Accommodations: The hotel offers 332 rooms and suites. Rooms are described as "very nice – simple, a little basic but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked great and the living room was nice." They are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee makers, and mini-fridges. The bathrooms are noted for being functional. Some rooms feature a separate living area, adding to guest comfort.
Dining: The on-site restaurant and bar, Patchwork, serves American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reviewers describe the food as "solid" and "traditional hotel fare – nothing special, nothing great." However, its convenience provides an easy option for meals within the hotel. Room service is also available.
Fitness Center: The hotel features a 24-hour fitness center, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines during their stay.
Guest Services: A 24-hour front desk is available to assist with check-in/check-out and general inquiries. Housekeeping services are provided. The hotel also offers dry cleaning/laundry services, a business center, and meeting/conference rooms.
Parking: Valet parking is available for a surcharge, which is a common and often necessary service in downtown city locations.
Pet-Friendly Policy: The Hyatt Centric is known for being pet-friendly, typically allowing up to two dogs per room for a fee, making it a convenient choice for travelers with furry companions.
However, some reviews point to inconsistencies in service delivery. One guest experienced issues with "progressively more bites on my legs (possibly fleas?)" and noted a "scary" and "screeching" elevator. Another mentioned being placed "RIGHT next to the elevator bay" despite requesting a quiet room, indicating a potential lapse in fulfilling guest requests or awareness of room noise levels. While changes were made to accommodate the guest, these instances suggest that service consistency might vary.
The most significant feature of the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia is its prime location:
Exceptional Center City Location: Being one block from Rittenhouse Square means unparalleled access to Philadelphia's cultural, dining, and shopping hubs. This convenience allows guests to easily explore attractions like the Kimmel Center, museums, and countless restaurants and boutiques.
Hyatt Centric Brand Standards: As part of the Hyatt Centric brand, the hotel aims to offer "modern amenities, a vibrant atmosphere, and intuitive services that connect guests to the heart of the destination." This includes comfortable beds ("the bed was comfortable") and functional bathrooms ("the bathroom worked great").
Pet-Friendly: Its policy of welcoming pets is a valuable feature for a significant segment of travelers, making it a convenient choice for those who travel with their dogs.
Fitness Facilities: The 24-hour fitness center provides an accessible option for guests to maintain their health routines.
Some features that have drawn criticism include the elevators, described as "very scary" and making "clanking" sounds. The "thin walls" are also a notable characteristic, meaning noise from adjacent rooms or the hallway can be easily heard, which might impact guest comfort. The lobby/entrance was perceived as "unimpressive" by one reviewer, suggesting that while the rooms are functional, the initial impression might not meet all expectations for a Hyatt-branded hotel.
Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia positions itself as a modern and convenient base for exploring Philadelphia, particularly emphasizing its central location. Promotional messages would highlight:
"Great location though - lots of places for shopping/sightseeing/restaurants nearby so very convenient": Directly leveraging its most praised feature, emphasizing its walkability and access to urban attractions.
"Very nice room - simple, a little basic but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked great and the living room was nice": Promoting the comfort and functionality of its accommodations for a pleasant stay.
"A fine hotel that had all the basic services": Communicating that essential needs are met, appealing to those looking for reliable, straightforward lodging.
Part of the Hyatt Brand: Leveraging the global recognition and loyalty program of Hyatt, as one reviewer mentioned being "high on the rewards tier" and preferring Hyatt when possible.
However, it's also important to consider the more critical recent feedback, which may impact future promotional strategies. The recurring issues with elevator noise, potential cleanliness concerns (bites), and initial room assignments near noisy areas could be points the hotel needs to address to maintain its reputation and attract repeat guests, particularly those with higher loyalty tiers who have noticed a decline.
In conclusion, the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia, located at 1620 Chancellor St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA, and reachable at (215) 985-1234, offers a fundamentally convenient and modern option for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Philadelphia's bustling Center City. While its prime location and reliable basic amenities are strong points, potential guests should be aware of past feedback regarding soundproofing, elevator performance, and service consistency to manage expectations effectively for their urban Philadelphia stay.

May 14, 2025 · Andrew KleinHave stayed at this hotel many times over the past 5 or so years and each time the hotel seems to be getting worse. During my last stay -- woke up every morning with progressively more bites on my legs (possibly fleas?) and had to quarantine / deep clean my luggage after coming home to remove stowaways. When I asked for a quiet room, was told we would be put on a high floor but front desk placed us RIGHT next to the elevator bay. The elevators make a "clanking" sound when going up and down which was heard easily from the room. We were easily changed to a better room further down the hall but that shouldn't have happened imo. Everyone knows the rooms next to elevator bays are the noisiest. Really liked this place 5 years ago when it was new. We are high on the rewards tier so we stay at Hyatt when we can but I will not be staying here during my upcoming trip and using another hotel brand.
May 01, 2025 · MitchellI was in town for a conference and stayed at the Hyatt for the first time. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was conveniently located in close proximity to everything. I was on the 12th floor so I had a decent view of the city. It was very clean, the housekeepers came everyday unlike other hotels that only clean every several days or between guests. They have a nice fitness center which I was happy to have all to myself. However, the rooms didn't offer an iron, so my professional attire was a bit wrinkled. The room didn't have a microwave, and the fridge was too small to accommodate my left overs. The beds were also a little uncomfortable. Overall, it was
May 07, 2025 · ChanteWe had a lovely stay here. The hotel has a great location; it’s located in a quiet alley, within walking distance to a nice park (Rittenhouse Square), plenty of shopping and a lot of great restaurants. The rooms were clean and our check in and check out process was seamless. We had no car so can’t speak to the valet/parking situation. Would stay here again!

Hotel is beautiful, clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
