The room was somewhat clean. The tub had dirt and hair in it and the bed the sheets were dirty. Had stains on them. In the non-smoking building, it always smelled like weed and neighbors were mad loud with blaring music throughout the day and night. They only give u one key card for the room. And no one knocks on the door when they do their daily room maintenance to see if u want new sheets or towels. Anyone can just walk in the building where the rooms are due to no lock on the outside building doors. The location is convenient if u dont have a car. Restaurants and a 24 hour diner is very close and a gas staion. They need to hire more staff and make this hotel safe for families. If i had kids i would not bring them to this hotel. DEFINITELY NOT KID FRIENDLY! The lady at the front desk was friendly.

Inn at York Introduce

For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in York, Pennsylvania, the Inn at York may appear as an option. Located at 222 Arsenal Rd, York, PA 17402, USA, and reachable by phone at (717) 843-9970 or mobile at +1 717-843-9970, this establishment is situated in a convenient area, particularly for those without personal transportation. This introduction will provide an objective overview of the Inn at York, drawing directly from available customer reviews to detail its environment, services, features, and general guest experiences, aiming to offer a comprehensive understanding for potential visitors.

The location of Inn at York is frequently cited as a positive aspect. Its proximity to essential amenities is a notable advantage, especially for guests who do not have a car. Within a very close radius, one can find various restaurants, including a 24-hour diner, which offers significant convenience for dining at any time. Additionally, a gas station nearby adds to the practicality of its setting for travelers. This accessibility to daily necessities and dining options makes the Inn at York potentially appealing from a purely logistical standpoint for someone needing quick access to local services.

However, when assessing the hotel's environment and cleanliness, potential guests should be aware of significant concerns raised in customer feedback. Multiple reviews highlight issues regarding the cleanliness of the rooms. Specific complaints include dirty bathtubs with dirt and hair, and stained bed sheets. These observations point to a need for more rigorous cleaning protocols to meet fundamental hygiene expectations for hotel accommodations. For families or individuals with high standards of cleanliness, these reports are critical to consider.

Beyond visual cleanliness, pervasive odors are a recurring theme in guest experiences, even in designated non-smoking buildings. Guests have reported strong and unpleasant smells, including cigarettes and marijuana, which can be particularly problematic for individuals with respiratory sensitivities, such as asthma. The intensity of these odors has been described as overwhelming, significantly impacting the comfort and well-being of guests. This suggests a persistent issue with air quality management and adherence to non-smoking policies within the property.

The overall condition of the rooms is another area of concern. Reviews describe the rooms as visibly run-down, indicating a lack of maintenance and updates. More alarmingly, guests have reported discovering signs of bed bugs and witnessing cockroaches in their rooms. These are serious health and safety concerns that directly affect the habitability of the accommodations. The presence of pests like cockroaches has been observed immediately upon entering rooms, leading guests to leave the property without staying. Such conditions are deeply troubling and raise questions about the hotel's adherence to public health and safety standards.

Regarding security and safety features, the Inn at York faces considerable criticism. A major concern highlighted by guests is the lack of a secure locking mechanism on the outside doors of the buildings where rooms are located. This means "anyone can just walk in the building," creating a significant security vulnerability. For families and individuals, this lack of external security is a major deterrent, as it compromises the safety and privacy of guests. Furthermore, guests are typically provided with only one key card per room, which can be inconvenient for multiple occupants. The process for daily room maintenance also lacks proper guest notification, with no one knocking before attempting service to ascertain if new sheets or towels are desired, raising further privacy concerns.

The services provided by the staff at Inn at York receive mixed reviews, though predominantly negative when it comes to addressing guest issues. While one review notes that the lady at the front desk was "friendly," this positive interaction is often overshadowed by significant issues with problem resolution. When guests encountered severe problems, such as unsanitary conditions and pest infestations, attempts to obtain a refund were met with resistance. A particularly concerning policy mentioned is that refunds are reportedly only available within the first 10 minutes of check-in, an "arbitrary policy" deemed "completely unreasonable" by guests, especially given the severity of the circumstances that might necessitate leaving. This policy has led to guests being charged for rooms they could not, or would not, use due to health and safety concerns, even after spending only a brief time on the property. The dismissive attitude of some staff members when confronted with serious issues, such as denying knowledge of pest complaints despite guest reports, further exacerbates negative experiences and diminishes trust.

Promotional information, or rather the lack thereof in the context of these reviews, suggests that the hotel's focus may not align with attracting families or those seeking a higher standard of accommodation. One guest explicitly stated, "If I had kids, I would not bring them to this hotel. DEFINITELY NOT KID FRIENDLY!" This strong recommendation underscores the perceived unsuitability of the environment for children due to the cleanliness, safety, and noise issues (loud music from neighbors throughout the day and night). The hotel's ability to "pass health or safety inspections" is openly questioned by guests, who feel it "should not be open to the public in its current state."

In summary, while Inn at York is positioned conveniently within York, PA, for those without a car and seeking "Hotels Near Of Me," the overwhelming feedback from real customers points to severe deficiencies in cleanliness, room condition, security, and guest service when problems arise. The reported presence of pests, strong odors, lack of external building security, and an unhelpful refund policy paint a concerning picture. Potential guests should carefully consider these serious issues, as they significantly impact the overall comfort, health, and safety of a stay. For travelers prioritizing hygiene, security, and a pleasant environment, exploring alternative accommodations in the York area would be strongly advised, even if it means foregoing the immediate convenience of this particular location.

I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at this establishment was so appalling that I feel obligated to warn others. Within minutes of entering our room, we were overwhelmed by the strong and unpleasant smell of cigarettes and marijuana — despite booking a non-smoking room. The odor was so intense that it triggered my husband’s asthma, making it difficult for him to breathe. The condition of the room was unacceptable. It was visibly run-down, and upon closer inspection, we discovered signs of bed bugs and even witnessed cockroaches. We had only been in the room for about 20 minutes and had not touched or used anything when we decided this was not a place we could stay. We immediately returned to the front desk to request a refund of our $95 payment. Instead of addressing our concerns, the staff offered a different room. I explained that due to the health hazards and filth, we just wanted a refund — not another room in the same condition. The manager refused, stating that refunds are only available within the first 10 minutes of check-in, which is completely unreasonable, especially given the circumstances. Because of this arbitrary policy, they kept our $95 despite us being there for only 20 minutes and never using the room. Reluctantly, we checked the second room they offered, only to find more cockroaches running across the floor when we turned on the light. At that point, we left the property entirely — having never used the room or stayed the night — and drove two hours back home rather than risk our health by staying there. What was most disturbing, aside from the filth and bugs, was the dismissive attitude of the staff. When I mentioned the insects, the man at the desk claimed no one else had complained — which I found troubling. Many of the guests staying there likely do not have other options, which may explain the lack of formal complaints. But that doesn’t make it acceptable. I’m not sure how this property passes health or safety inspections, but in my opinion, it should not be open to the public in its current state. The conditions are unsanitary, unhealthy, and unsafe. And to make matters worse, they refused to refund our $95, despite the fact that we left without staying the night. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere.

I would give them a negative 5 if I could. Immediately upon arrival we were given our key and walked down too our room, the hallway had funky Odor and the door too the outside doesn’t lock even with the key pad on it, which is obviously a safety concern considering the amount of drug addicts surrounding the building. There was constant loud banging and screaming from both upstairs and the neighbors too the side of us until 5 am. There was dogs fighting in the hallway, and the police were outside of the building for 2 hours around 1 am

During my stay, no one came to gather any trash or towels, I then waited to see when housekeeping come around to see if they could dispose of the trash and possibly resupply me with towels… the housekeeper proceeded to tell me I needed to take my trash to their dumpster outside… i laughed and thought the gentleman was joking, he then proceeded to send the front desk staff to my room for them to tell me i needed to take my garbage outside as well. These people have no hospitality skills whatsoever and its very clear this place needs to be investigated by the health department. Update: Housekeeping Supervisor, Lorri, came and apologized for inconvenience and reassured me that they are dedicated to ensuring a cleanly environment. She believed it might’ve been a communication, but was able to resolve to problem promptly.

I checked in on Sunday 12/29/2024 for a weekly rental expecting this place to be horrible from reading the reviews. I don't know what planet the people that gave bad reviews are living on! This hotel is the best budget friendly place I have ever stayed at. The staff is very friendly and helpful with everything you ask. Every guest I have run into is just as friendly. This hotel has more amenities than I ever had the pleasure of seeing. Very clean. I've seen 2 little roaches. Big deal people! I've worked chain restaurants that have been infested with flying roaches. If you are expecting this place to be the Plaza Hotel in NY, then you don't need to bother staying here because it would never be to your standard. Keep up the amazing work Inn at York!!
