We booked this hotel because of the location. It is right in the middle of all of the bars and restaurants and places to visit in York. I was pretty concerned about staying here after reading all the horrible reviews, but we decided to do it anyway. to our surprise, The room was completely fine and felt clean. We even looked at the sheets pretty thoroughly and they seemed to be clean and nice the bed was comfy as well. The lady who checked in at the front desk and checked us out was extremely friendly. We were happy with our stay and would stay here again. We did not see any roaches or bugs like other reviews mentioned, very happy with our stay.

Mar 16, 2025 · brittany CiccocioppoRed Roof Inn (Downtown York) GOOD: For the price, you get a decent, clean room with some amenities. Check in was fine, the bed was comfortable. In a pinch, it's serviceable/adequate. BAD: Services - they're really are none. Lobby coffee is only a available in the morning. No in room coffee, though in fairness it does have a fridge and microwave which I used. Location - good and bad. You're in downtown York, so there will likely be good restaurants and bars. But I heard police presence CONSTANTLY (including an unknown incident here). There was a guy screaming in their lot. Peace and quiet is zero - you can hear neighboring room chatter too well, and all the city activity outside your door. My fridge also had a loud, obnoxious hum. I wanted to give this place 3.5 stars for the room quality, but the noises through the walls and outside, warrants 3 at best. Coffee is also a big must for me personally, and it's annoying they don't offer it (there is no Dunkins or 7-11 in walking distance). For the low price, the room is fine, but I regret not paying the 20 extra for my spot at BW. RR Inn is fine in a pinch, but you get what you pay for.
Mar 14, 2025 · LouisI stayed at this hotel in York, PA in early April, by calling the national Red Roof reservation line, I was triple charged, two charges for this hotel and one for another Red Roof inn in Yorktown VA. While this hotel did refund to me the 2nd "erroneous" charge, they would not help me with the other red roof inn in Yorktown, VA seemingly stealing my money and claimed there is nothing they can do about it that I was erroneously triple charged (not my error) at a different red roof inn when I made a reservation at their red roof inn. I get it they are passing the buck and saying they can't do anything, but is worth a 1 star review. I blame this place too because this is where I stayed and while they did refund my double charge at their place, they would not go to bat for me and help me with the triple charge which was obviously not my mistake. Like passing the buck, either way after staying at this place for the past 5 or 6 years a couple times a year, I would not go back. I googled Red Roof Inn double charge and it seems like this is a very common practice, so much on google that it's safe to say they are extremely incompetently run or actively stealing money. Either way avoid ANY Red Roof Inn, they are so poorly run/or dishonest, it's not worth risking finding out if they are completely incompetent or just thieves it's hard to say.
May 21, 2025 · Joe KieferSo my husband and I had to stay somewhere short notice because we had a family member in the cardiac ICU of your hospital. We had stayed in Red roof inns before and figured that this would be close enough to the location that we needed. We ended up booking a room with handicap access due to my disabilities and went arriving into the room we were overwhelmed with the smell of fabuloso cleaners so much that we had to open up the window so my asthma didn't flare, But to our surprise despite the overwhelming smell of cleaners the room was unsanitary. Not only were the ceiling tiles falling out of the wall and the floor tiles broken and separating, But there was grime cake to the bottom of the bathtub some sort of gunk all around the edges of the room complete with human hair dog hair and even an old spit out mint beside the bed. The shower connector was loose from the wall. The microwave was completely disgusting. There was human hair caked in the ice in the freezer, The elegant mirror on the wall was busted around the ends and barely hanging on, The Wi-Fi signal was extremely weak, The remote did not control the television. The handle to the dressers were extremely loose as well as the bottom drawer did not shut at all, The walls were filthy I don't even know what was on them couldn't tell if it was egg boogers food... Despite all of this and them telling us there were no other rooms available We went to sleep. I was woken up to something crawling over my arm I flicked it in the floor and when I got up to use the bathroom it was crawling in the bathroom. It was a roach We immediately checked out We let the office know what was going on showed her the videos and the pictures and she did apologize said she hopes I feel better, and we left. The place looked nothing like the photos on their website, The other guest were a bit unruly through the night, most of them huddled around a garbage can for the extent of our stay... Oh and there's thick structure glass wrapped all the way around the front desk in the lobby. We will not be back and we do not suggest anyone else stay there until that place gets some revamp and major TLC and an exterminator!!! Videos and photos attached
Apr 04, 2025 · Khristian BergerThis hotel was the worst red roof we have ever been to! There was trash in the room when we walked in. The tub had hair and dirt in it. Burn holes in the comforters, smelled like an ashtray it was just horrible! We do not live in the area but we visit often. We thought that because it was by all of the superb restaurants york has and the theatre that it would be nice and safe. We were so wrong. A young lady told us as we parkEd that we better make sure we locked our car doors as our kids got out because her daughter was robbed nearby and this was a bad area! What in the world did red roof put their name on????? Never again! We walked in and walked right out.
