Really great find. My friend and I had another place booked in the area but let's just say it didn't work out for sanitary reasons. These resorts are quaint and quiet. I stayed in a couple of cabins which are rustic, but clean. And the resort is dog friendly to boot. The lodging staff and restaurant staff are so pleasant. Book your stay.

Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground - Honesdale Introduce

For those searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category who desire a blend of natural tranquility, outdoor adventure, and a departure from conventional hotel stays, Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground in Honesdale, PA, offers a distinctive proposition. Located at 182 Ski Run Rd, Honesdale, PA 18431, USA, this establishment functions as a resort and family campground, providing a range of accommodations that cater to various preferences, from rustic cabins to traditional camping sites, all set within the beautiful landscape of the Pocono Mountains.

The environment of Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground is primarily defined by its serene natural surroundings. The resort is situated in Honesdale, an area known for its lush forests, scenic lakes, and a generally peaceful atmosphere. Guests can expect a quiet and quaint setting, providing a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The presence of Lake Wanoka itself is a significant environmental feature, offering opportunities for water-based activities or simply enjoying picturesque views. Customer reviews consistently highlight the peaceful nature of the park. While embracing a rustic aesthetic, the environment prioritizes a connection with nature, which is appealing to those seeking an outdoor-oriented vacation. It's important to note that a "rustic" environment implies a more natural and less polished setting than a luxury resort, which aligns with the campground aspect of the property. Some areas, like the general store during off-peak times, might reflect a winding down of seasonal operations, but the overall outdoor environment is commended for its cleanliness and tranquility.

The services at Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground are geared towards supporting a comfortable and engaging outdoor experience. The staff, from lodging to the restaurant, are consistently described as pleasant and helpful, contributing significantly to a positive guest experience. While the resort offers various lodging types, general services would include provisions for check-in and check-out, with helpful staff guiding guests to their respective cabins or campsites. The resort also boasts a restaurant, which has received positive feedback for its quality. This is a crucial amenity for guests, offering a convenient dining option on-site. For campers, facilities typically include clean camping sites and access to communal amenities. The presence of a "General Store," though noted to be sad and lacking during the end of the season, suggests an intent to provide basic necessities and convenience items. Given its family campground designation, one might expect additional services like recreational programs during peak season, although specific details are not provided. The resort's pet-friendly policy is a significant service feature, allowing guests to bring their dogs along for the adventure, which is a major draw for many travelers.

The features of Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground are diverse, catering to different types of travelers looking for a Poconos experience. The accommodation options are a key feature:

  • Cabins: These are a popular choice, described as rustic but clean and well-stocked. "Rustic" suggests a basic, natural aesthetic, possibly with wooden interiors and a focus on functionality rather than luxury. They typically include essential comforts for a comfortable stay. The mention of cabins being "stocked" implies they come with necessary bedding, possibly basic kitchenware, and other essentials, making them a convenient option for a short or extended stay.

  • Camping Sites: For those who prefer a more traditional outdoor experience, the campground offers sites for tents or RVs. These sites are noted for being clean and peaceful, providing a solid foundation for a classic camping adventure.

Beyond lodging, the resort offers recreational features designed to enhance the outdoor experience. While specific details on all activities are not provided, the general nature of a "resort and family campground" suggests amenities such as playgrounds, recreational areas, and access to Lake Wanoka for activities like fishing, boating (non-motorized, if permitted), or swimming. The presence of an arcade, mentioned in one review of another property but a common feature in such resorts, would offer indoor entertainment. The restaurant is a key feature, providing convenient meals for guests. The resort's overall quiet ambiance is a feature highly valued by visitors seeking relaxation. The fact that it is dog-friendly is a significant amenity for pet owners, allowing them to enjoy their vacation with their furry companions, a feature not commonly found in all "Hotels Near Of Me" options.

Promotional information for Lake Wanoka Resort And Family Campground - Honesdale would primarily be found through their direct phone lines: (570) 253-0110 and +1 570-253-0110. Online, one would expect to find listings on camping and resort directories, as well as potentially a dedicated website showcasing their cabin types, camping site features, and seasonal activities. Given its nature, promotions might include special rates for extended stays, seasonal packages (e.g., for summer or fall foliage), or discounts for early bookings. The positive reviews highlighting the cleanliness, pleasant staff, and peaceful environment serve as strong organic promotional material. Word-of-mouth recommendations, especially among the camping and outdoor enthusiasts community, would also be vital. When considering booking, it would be advisable to inquire about seasonal operating hours and specific amenities available during your planned visit, as some facilities (like the general store) may have reduced services during the off-season. Lake Wanoka Resort is an excellent option for those seeking a rustic, clean, and family-friendly getaway in the Poconos, offering a different kind of "hotel" experience focused on nature and tranquility.

We were here the last weekend of the season, and the General Store was sad and smelled (change machine didn't work, nothing on the shelves, no one there to pay for items...). But the camping site was clean and the park was peaceful. Cabins are nice and stocked. The restaurant was great!

Took the kids here for a weekend "camping" trip. The pond and splash pad area were a big hit. There was what appeared to be a snack bar in that area as well, but it was closed when we were there. The restaurant had surprisingly good food, and I would drive the 40 minutes from my house just to come back and eat there. Now, I rated the service lower, but that wasn't to say the service we got was bad. Our food service was great! But other than those individuals in the restaurant, there really didn't seem to be anybody around who worked there. I checked out by leaving my keys in the room because I wasn't given any instructions and the office/general store was always empty. The property was nice and quiet, rates very reasonable, there's a dog park and they can stay with you, basketball courts and tennis/pickle ball? looked recently renovated. Cabin we were in was very cute, clean, and had all the necessities. Air conditioning was great, and the shower was hot. You got a full size fridge as well so you didn't need to keep ice. I get the feeling that this place was awesome before the virus ruined everything, and now like everyone else, they lack staff. The kids want to go back, and they both loved it. If you need to stay somewhere while on vacation, or for a weekend, this is so much cooler than a hotel. You can just kind of let the kids wander around and not worry about it. Oh, and there's 🐔 walking around which is always fun to see.
