This is the third time I visited. Location is easy to find. Plenty of free parking. Close to Dartmouth hospital and college. There is a handicapped entrance in the back of the building and parking in the front. This is a specialized former hostile for medical leave related family and friends who utilize the Dartmouth healthcare system. They have any kitchen & dining room where you can prepare your own meals. They have several floors of rooms including the basement level. I believe they have a single bathroom on each floor. There is no elevator. This is a non-smoking, alcohol free establishment. It was 8 degrees outside. The rooms are decorated with country like quilts. My room had two twin size beds and non-working fireplace. Charming. It was freezing cold in my room. Another guest has the same problem and they gave her a heater and they did provide me one also which was a godsend because that really was necessary. Old houses frequently don't have very good insulation. The only difficulty I found has been that you are requested to strip the bed and put the linens in the bathroom hamper which is difficult for someone with mobility issues. There is free Wi-Fi free parking handicap parking there is a handicap access in the back parking lot however there's no elevator. You can't use your wheelchair because the front entrance has stairs. In case they don't tell you check out is at 9:30 in the morning and they are extremely vigilant at keeping that that way.

The building itself is an "old house," likely built in 1890, which means it has a historic charm, sometimes accompanied by challenges like insulation issues, as one guest experienced a "freezing cold" room where heaters were necessary and provided. Rooms are decorated with a "country-like quilts" and can feature elements like non-working fireplaces, adding to a "charming" aesthetic. Jan 17, 2025 · Mary CainWhat would I have done without Maynard House this week? That’s what I ask myself. I could not have had treatment, since I am too tired to drive back and forth daily (about 2.5 hr driving). This home is well appointed, comfortable and inviting. The people here have been warm and welcoming. That gentleness means so much when not feeling well, especially when it’s a long-term illness. Anne, especially, was reassuring and even informed me of interesting activities close by, should I have the energy. All in all so far ( my stay is not over), this has been a place that brought sunshine to my soul. I am grateful beyond words.

Mar 31, 2025 · Jean HalpinBless Maynard House and the people there! I stayed while my husband was having cardiac surgery & was treated more like family than a guest. I could not have asked for better treatment, especially given the circumstances. Maria was an absolute godsend to me, answering questions and helping me get through a very tough time. My eternal thanks to all of the people at Maynard House!
Oct 25, 2023 · Virginia WardMy wife said and I was thinking this "had to be the cleanest place I have ever stayed at". I used to travel for work some so, I meant her, us and I. The beds were plenty comfortable. I believe the clientele is restricted to those who have or are patients at the nearby Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. The staff is very concerned for the comfort of the guests. They have a couple of common room for gathering with others in similar situations. You need to make your own my meals but they supply some of the basics and have well kept cookware, dishes and utensils.
