A gem of a hotel! Located a short 7-8 minute walk to the convention center, 15-18 minute walk to the edge of the French Quarter. This hotel has all the charm of an older historic building- cobblestone floors on the street level, layout such that rooms face interior atrium. Since it’s an older building the floors squeak and one can hear the neighbors muted talking, but I felt it added to the charm. Our suite had two separate rooms each with their own bathroom, and a full kitchen that was perfect for reheats of large restaurant portions (something you’d have trouble doing at a typical hotel). The caretakers are awesome, knowledgeable and accommodating. I would 100% stay here again.
Hello there, fellow Louisianians! When you're planning a trip to New Orleans, whether it's for a convention, a long weekend exploring the city, or just a comfortable place for family visiting from out of town, finding accommodations that offer more than just a standard hotel room can make all the difference. That's where the Plaza Suite Hotel truly shines. Tucked away in the vibrant Warehouse District, this hotel offers the unique charm of a historic building combined with the space and convenience of apartment-style living. Let's delve into what makes the Plaza Suite Hotel a fantastic and practical choice for your next New Orleans adventure.
The Plaza Suite Hotel in New Orleans is a unique and charming property, a true "gem" as one guest described it, set within an older, historic building that adds character to your stay. Unlike typical hotels, this establishment focuses on offering spacious suite accommodations, many of which feature separate bedrooms and fully equipped kitchens. This design caters perfectly to travelers seeking more than just a room – whether it's for extended stays, family trips, or simply the convenience of preparing your own meals.
The hotel embraces its historic roots, evident in details like cobblestone floors on the street level and a layout where rooms face an interior atrium, creating a cozy and classic atmosphere. While the age of the building means you might hear the occasional creak or muted conversation from neighbors, many guests find these quirks add to the hotel's charm rather than detract from it. The staff, often described as "caretakers" who are knowledgeable and accommodating, contribute significantly to a welcoming experience. While some initial check-in experiences might be less than ideal, the overall sentiment points to a clean, well-stocked, and highly recommended lodging option that provides a comfortable and spacious base for exploring New Orleans.
The Plaza Suite Hotel is conveniently located at 620 S Peters St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA. This places it firmly within the dynamic Warehouse District, a neighborhood celebrated for its art galleries, museums, excellent restaurants, and proximity to major city attractions. Accessibility is a key advantage for guests staying at the Plaza Suite Hotel. For those attending events, it's just a short 7-8 minute walk to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. If you're eager to explore the historic charm of the French Quarter, it's approximately a 15-18 minute walk to its edge, and a bit further into the bustling center. This walkable distance means you can easily enjoy the best of both the Warehouse District and the French Quarter on foot, saving on transportation costs and allowing for spontaneous exploration. The hotel is also within a 5-minute walk of The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk and Caesars New Orleans Casino. Public transportation access is convenient, with Canal at South Peters Stop and Canal at North Peters Stop just a 6-minute walk away. While the hotel does not offer on-site parking, guests are advised about using the nearby casino parking garage, which offers free parking with casino activity validation, a useful tip for those driving in.

Jun 15, 2025 · Amy GulasThe person on duty when we checked in was anything but helpful. He didn’t mention the availability of luggage carts until after we lugged everything into the lobby from the car. He gave vague directions on how to get to our room never mentioning there were 2 elevators (we went up the wrong one) and couldn’t find our room. Went back to clarify directions and then found the right elevator. We were told about using the casino parking garage which offers free parking by getting parking validation with casino activity. Our unit was very nice and well stocked. Our location was about 1/3 of a mile from the French Quarter which resulted in a lot of walking. On first full day we were there we reported a bulb out in the kitchen above the stove making it difficult to see when cooking. It was never replaced during our stay. Mentioned that issue at checkout and the representative was unapologetic.
May 31, 2025 · Kim Bors-KoefoedWater in the kitchen takes longer to get hot. Water in the sink in the bathroom doesn't get hot at all. Water in the shower/tub gets hot, then cold, then hot. The tub has corrosion in the jets so they don't work. The elevators are a little confusing if it is your first time. Everyone was very nice. If you go thru RCI, you don't have to pay that fee they have. The maids come every Tuesday to clean the room if you want.
Feb 03, 2025 · Jamese Newsom (Jay)The building is historic and beautiful. Tactically, the location is great in New Orleans for checking out all the tourist attractions, fine dining, music events, etc. The hot tub was a warm tub. The oven didn't work. Some of the electrical outlets were a bit iffy. Ground floor service was nice but any issues about the room were met with handwaving, I was told I didn't know how to use the oven or the hot tub properly. Oof.
Dec 17, 2024 · Royce MalloyWe chose this hotel for it’s convenient location in the central business district. It’s right down the block from Poydras Street, which is just a short walk away from the Superdome or from the French Quarter. The check-in process was a breeze, and we were able to check-in early since our room was ready. All of the staff were super friendly. The room decor was a little “retro” but in an antique way, it had a lot of character and everything was clean and well maintained. There is a general lounge area on the second floor which was cute. I definitely would come back if I was in the area again.
