For those seeking an affordable place to stay in Anderson, South Carolina, particularly with proximity to educational institutions and local attractions, the Quality Inn Clemson near University positions itself as a budget-friendly choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. Located at 3430 Clemson Blvd, Anderson, SC 29621, USA, this hotel aims to offer essential comforts at competitive rates.
The hotel's location is a significant draw, being conveniently situated near Anderson University (a 10-minute drive) and approximately 35 minutes from Clemson University. This makes it a practical option for visiting students, faculty, or attending university events. Other nearby points of interest include Lake Hartwell, Anderson Mall, the Anderson Civic and Sports Center, and the Anderson Jockey Lot Flea and Farmers' Market. While the general area is accessible, the environment within the hotel itself elicits highly contrasting feedback. Some guests describe the rooms as "okay" or generally comfortable, emphasizing its value for money. However, a starkly negative review paints a picture of a "nastiest place I have ever been," citing pervasive odors ("smelled like wet dog," "reeks of cigarettes and pot"), filthy carpets, and significant issues with bed bugs in multiple rooms. This suggests that the hotel's internal environment and cleanliness can be highly inconsistent and, at times, fall far below acceptable standards. There are also mentions of noise disturbances, including "late night fight and police are called," suggesting potential safety and security concerns, especially in certain areas of the property (e.g., side rooms or back parking lot).
The Quality Inn Clemson near University offers a range of services and features commonly found in budget-tier hotels:
Customer service at the Quality Inn Clemson near University receives highly polarized feedback. Positive reviews mention "friendly" and "helpful staff" and an overall positive experience. However, the negative reviews describe severely lacking and unhelpful service. One guest recounts being unable to get fresh linens due to staff claiming "no linens" and being "about to leave," being lied to about room availability, and experiencing a general lack of responsiveness to requests like room cleaning or vacuuming. Most alarmingly, the manager was reportedly unconcerned about repeated bed bug infestations in multiple rooms, a critical failure in customer care and hotel management. This suggests that while some staff members may be courteous, there are significant systemic issues in responsiveness to guest needs and complaints, particularly concerning cleanliness and safety.
Promotional information for the Quality Inn Clemson near University emphasizes its "value-oriented guest rooms" and a range of amenities designed to provide comfort and convenience. It highlights its prime location near universities and local attractions, making it an attractive option for visitors to the area looking for economical accommodation. The "free hot breakfast," free WiFi, seasonal outdoor pool, and pet-friendly policy are key features that would be promoted. The hotel aims to maximize guests' "hard-earned money" by providing essential services. However, due to the severe and consistent negative feedback regarding cleanliness, pest issues, and inadequate service in critical situations, potential guests should temper their expectations and consider the possibility of encountering significant problems. While the hotel offers standard amenities for its price point, the varying and sometimes alarming guest experiences necessitate a cautious approach. For reservations or inquiries, you can contact the Quality Inn Clemson near University at (864) 202-6510 or +1 864-202-6510.

Apr 22, 2025 · Juicefer LightThe nastiest place I have ever been. The room smelled like wet dog when I walked in. We checked the beds and BED BUGS. Moved to another room, check the beds immediately to find more BED BUGS!!!! Carpet is filthy. Showers don’t drain. And the manager doesn’t even care. The trashiest place I’ve seen
Mar 21, 2025 · KingDaddyRabbitRoom wasn’t very handicap accessible. There was not a lot of room between bed and fridge. There was a tub in bathroom instead of walk in shower. There wasn’t a shower chair. There was one towel and two wash clothes for two people. There wasn’t a bath mat for the floor. The toilet wasn’t straight to the floor, it was tilted. There was two lamps with no light bulbs in them. Heat on air conditioner unit not working properly. Front door to room had to be slammed shut when you go in or out. Not handicap accessible on the outside when my husband would have to either try to walk down four steps with his walker in his hand to get to the door for the lobby or goes down a hallway to a sidewalk to go down another path to get to lobby. Says on site pets welcome but they don’t accept cats.
Feb 19, 2025 · Erika PalmerMy husband and I stayed here about a year ago and it was a great stay. Well, I'm sad to say things have definitely changed since then. We stayed this time about 30 days because of Helene and during that time it was nothing like it was before. The buildings and grounds are filthy, grimy even. Housekeeping came by 3 times in 30 days. It was a fight to get clean anything, sheets, towels, blankets... Literally anything. We were in 201, the hot water wasn't even warm enough to shower properly and the wifi in that room didn't work the whole time we were there, and the front desk did Nothing about it even though we let them know multiple times that it didn't work. Well because the wifi didn't work, the TV went from being smart to dumb so the whole time we had no Internet AND no TV. And don't even get me started on the breakfast. Which used to be pretty darn good but now is only waffles and cold cereal, yogurt and muffins and sometimes milk of you're lucky. Not once, other than when I initially reserved the room we're we treated nicely. I mean they weren't "rude" per say they just didn't act like we mattered at all. Sad to see a place that used to be wonderful go so far downhill. I guess they are trying to be the new red roof.
