High hopes from the lobby, but the room was a disaster. One of the pillows had hair on them, and MOLD. Actual Mildew on the pillow case. I tried to call the front desk but the phone in the room did not even work. The bath room was filthy, hair in the shower, mildew and mold in the shower. The drain stops were missing and crusty with gunk and corrosion. The main light did not work. The overhead light didn't even have a cover. It was just LEDs exposed. The hair dryer actually had writing on it that said "Bad Plug", so does that mean it could cause a fire or something? Why was it still there. The walls were covered in scuff marks and paint chips. Couch was stained. Chair was stained. Spilled sticky coffee mess on the desk. The pull out couch was broken. The supports for the mattress were just ripped off. The curtains had holes in them that looked like moths had a field day. The cable wire was run outside of the wall from under the carpet to the wall outlet and the face plate was just left hanging there. Overall absolutely disgusting and the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, possibly ever. I will not be going back. In fact I may avoid this hotel chain all together now it was just that bad. My recommendation is to just bulldoze the entire hotel and start from scratch. Update: Don't be fooled by the Google Maps picture of the hotel. That is the back side that must have been re-done the rest of the hotel is that dingy yellow ugly building. They are trying to hide that from view!
Quality Inn & Suites Fairgrounds, situated at 100 Farrell Rd Building A, Syracuse, NY 13209, USA, positions itself as a practical and budget-conscious accommodation option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. This hotel is designed to cater to travelers seeking convenient and affordable lodging, particularly those visiting the famous New York State Fairgrounds, which is a major draw to the area. While it offers a range of standard amenities, guest experiences vary, providing a comprehensive picture of what to expect from a stay here.
The environment of Quality Inn & Suites Fairgrounds is defined by its strategic location in Syracuse, making it a prime spot for visitors attending events at the New York State Fairgrounds and the Empire Expo Center. Located just a few miles from the fairgrounds and off Interstate 90 and I-690, the hotel offers easy access for travelers arriving by car. This proximity to major highways also means convenient, albeit potentially brief, drives to other Syracuse attractions such as downtown Syracuse, Syracuse University, Destiny USA, and the Onondaga Lake Park. The immediate surroundings are more industrial or suburban, and a reviewer noted that the Google Maps picture might present a misleading view, as the "back side" appears renovated while other parts retain a "dingy yellow ugly building" aesthetic. This suggests that while the location is highly practical for fairground visitors and those passing through, the visual appeal of the exterior may be mixed. However, for a quick stopover, the accessibility and parking facilities are often appreciated.
Regarding services, Quality Inn & Suites Fairgrounds offers several key amenities aimed at convenience and value. A notable service is the complimentary breakfast, which guests typically find to be "ample and refreshing," providing snacks or a basic meal to start the day. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi, though one review noted it was "not the greatest," indicating potential variability in signal strength. Free self-parking is available on-site, a significant benefit for travelers with vehicles. The staff generally receives positive feedback, with guests describing them as "friendly and helpful." The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is available at any time, and offers an express check-in/check-out process for efficiency. For those with pets, the hotel is pet-friendly, though charges apply. Other services typically include laundry facilities, a business center, and vending machines for snacks and drinks. While some hotels offer in-room coffee/tea makers, it's worth noting that microwaves and refrigerators might be available upon request and possibly incur an additional nightly fee.
The features of the rooms at Quality Inn & Suites Fairgrounds can be a mixed bag, as highlighted by varied customer reviews. Rooms generally come equipped with air conditioning, a TV with cable channels, and a private bathroom. Some rooms may include a microwave and refrigerator, though these might be on request and come with a fee. Reviews indicate that while some rooms are "clean and served their primary purpose effectively" for a short stay, others have significant maintenance and cleanliness issues. Specific negative feedback from one customer included stained furniture (couch and chair), sticky messes on the desk, torn curtains, exposed wiring, and broken fixtures like a pull-out couch and non-functioning lights. More concerning were reports of hair and mold on pillows and mildew/mold in the shower, along with missing drain stops and a "Bad Plug" noted on a hairdryer, raising safety concerns. This suggests a notable inconsistency in room quality and maintenance. However, other reviews indicate that for a "budget hotel" at a low price point, the rooms can be "perfectly adequate" and "clean" for an 8-hour short stay, and that the heating/AC worked, and rooms didn't smell bad, with good water pressure (though drains might be slow). This highlights that expectations should be aligned with the hotel's budget-friendly status. The hotel also features an outdoor pool (seasonal), a fitness center, and a lounge bar, providing some recreational options for guests.
For promotional information, Quality Inn & Suites Fairgrounds, as part of the Choice Hotels family, likely participates in their loyalty program, Choice Privileges, offering members benefits and points. The primary promotional aspect of this hotel often revolves around its affordability and proximity to the New York State Fairgrounds. It frequently appears as a "Hotels Near Of Me" option, catering to those seeking immediate, cost-effective lodging close to a major event venue or transit points. The pricing, often under $80 per night for a basic stay, is a significant draw for budget-conscious travelers. While some reviews emphasize the positive value for money for a short, functional stay, others highlight concerns that might influence a traveler's decision for an extended visit. The hotel's website and online travel agencies would be the best sources for current rates and any special promotions. Given the mixed reviews, promotional messaging would likely focus on the hotel's core value proposition: a convenient location for fairgrounds access, complimentary breakfast, and competitive pricing, while managing expectations regarding the overall property condition. The disparate experiences underscore the importance of setting realistic expectations when booking at this price point and considering whether the convenience and affordability outweigh potential inconsistencies in room quality.

Apr 25, 2025 · Denny DalessandroDuring a long drive, I found myself in need of a quick rest and booked a budget hotel online for under $80 per night. Given the low price point, I approached my stay with modest expectations and some trepidation about potential quality issues. Surprisingly, the hotel exceeded my minimal expectations. The room was perfectly adequate for an 8-hour short stay, providing a comfortable space to catch up on much-needed rest. While the accommodations were basic, they were clean and served their primary purpose effectively. One notable concern was the security of the entrance in my wing of the hotel. The door appeared damaged, which could potentially allow unauthorized entry – a point that might worry more security-conscious travelers. The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast. I usually don't eat much during the morning but grabbed a couple of snacks for the journey ahead. Overall, the hotel delivered on what I needed: a cheap, convenient place to rest for the night. The four stars reflect the excellent value for money: clean room, decent sleep, a snack for the road—all for under $80. Would I stay here for an extended trip? Maybe not. But for a quick, budget-friendly stopover, I’d consider it again.
Dec 12, 2024 · Max ROJASEntrance E, the whole area, had a bad smell and in the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking, it stank of smoke, dead rat, and sweat. I called and asked for sir freshner, he said he would send it up. I'm going to iron to change for our commitment, there's no ironing board. Called again, again he said he would send it over. But then he said he would change my room, I need to back to the front office. I was offered another room in the same E door area, I refused. He then gave me another room which had an ironing board but no microwave. We were running late for our commitment so we took the room so we can get ready. When we finished our engagement, we decided to get our belongings from the room and check out. We did not even sleep there. I'll give the worker some credit, he tried to give another room, (but in the same area) "bad choice". But it needs to get cleaned up, better lighting in the room and a hot breakfast would help instead of continental.
Apr 13, 2025 · Clara RiveraThis hotel is in unbelievably bad shape for its reputation. The room we got (227) was crawling with bugs and was supplied with dirty, stained, I found a glob of hair in one, towels. The shower was damaged and the shower part didn't work properly. The hallway light was broken that even when it was turned off it would routinely flash, making it hard to sleep. The receptionists were not helpful at all and took HOURS to tend to a need we had. We asked before we left and when we got back they never even got to it.
Mar 29, 2025 · Sean MansfieldThe room I stayed in was Terrible, 2 roaches seen crawling on wall and cabinet over sink, the coubard was falling off the wall. The bath counter was pulling away from the wood and wall, there was brown poop marks on the bed cover in SEVERAL spots. There was brown poop looking marks on bath towel. The bath floor was dirty and sticky. The noise of doors slamming throughout the night was constant. The slide window had now lock on it and was on the ground floor, I felt very unsafe there. I spoke with the woman at the desk who stated the manager would call me but he NEVER DID. And the price was way to high for the terrible room they put me in.
