Do NOT stay here…Genuinely! We checked into our room and there was trash everywhere, see the photos. Then we requested another room to stay in, which the front desk provided. Only problem was that the bathroom was covered with black mold. So much so that it was hard to breathe - see the photos. We then went back up to the front desk where the manager had his friend (non-employee with a universal key card) show us other rooms to see if they were satisfactory. We landed on the first one because our standards were pretty low at this point (it didn’t have a bunch of trash and it didn’t have black mold). Come to find out there is no TV remote, the main light does not work, and the shower does not work properly. I am shocked this hotel is even rated 2-stars online. P.S. this is my first google review ever…that’s how you know it was bad.
For those in search of "Hotels Near Of Me" specifically catering to longer durations in the Syracuse, New York area, the Suburban Studios Syracuse Fairgrounds positions itself as an extended stay option. Located at 100 Farrell Rd Building B, Syracuse, NY 13209, USA, this hotel aims to provide apartment-style amenities for guests requiring more than just a short overnight stay, often appealing to those on business assignments, relocating, or simply needing budget-friendly long-term accommodation near the New York State Fairgrounds.
The environment at Suburban Studios Syracuse Fairgrounds, as conveyed by recent customer reviews, presents a mixed picture. While it is marketed as a convenient solution for extended stays, significant concerns have been raised regarding the cleanliness and overall condition of the rooms. Guests have reported issues ranging from "trash everywhere" upon check-in to bathrooms "covered with black mold," which reportedly made it "hard to breathe." These descriptions paint a picture of an environment that, at times, falls short of basic hygiene standards. Furthermore, reports of unpleasant odors, including "smoke, dead rat, and sweat," even in supposedly non-smoking rooms, contribute to a challenging environment. The overall impression from these accounts suggests that while the location might be convenient, the immediate in-room environment can be highly problematic and uncomfortable for guests. The general atmosphere appears to be one where maintenance and cleanliness are not consistently prioritized, which can significantly impact a guest's comfort and well-being during an extended stay.
The services offered at Suburban Studios Syracuse Fairgrounds, based on the provided feedback, include a front desk that attempts to address guest issues, although with varying degrees of success and efficiency. Guests have reported needing to request room changes multiple times due to unsatisfactory conditions, such as trash or mold. The responsiveness of the staff in sending up requested items like air freshener or an ironing board has also been noted as inconsistent, sometimes requiring follow-up or a room change as a resolution. One reviewer mentioned a non-employee friend of the manager showing rooms, which raises questions about professionalism and security protocols. While the intent to resolve issues by offering alternative rooms is present, the fact that multiple rooms presented significant problems suggests a systemic issue rather than isolated incidents. There is no indication of a hot breakfast being consistently offered, with a reviewer mentioning that a "hot breakfast would help instead of continental," and another source indicates that breakfast is "optional at a 3 USD additional charge upon check in if a Suburban guests decided to have breakfast." This contrasts with some extended stay hotels that offer more substantial complimentary breakfast options.
The features of the rooms at Suburban Studios Syracuse Fairgrounds are intended to support extended stays, typically including a kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator, and free Wi-Fi. However, the provided reviews highlight significant inconsistencies and deficiencies in these features. Guests have reported issues such as a missing TV remote, a main light that does not work, and a shower that "does not work properly." More critically, the availability of essential kitchenette appliances like microwaves appears to be inconsistent; one guest was offered a room with an ironing board but "no microwave," even though this is a core expectation for an extended stay hotel. While rooms generally offer climate control (air conditioning and heating) and private bathrooms with bathtubs or showers, the functional reliability of these basic amenities, as well as the cleanliness of the bathrooms, has been a significant concern. The overall impression is that while the concept of providing features for longer stays is there, the actual execution and maintenance of these features are lacking, leading to a frustrating experience for guests who rely on these amenities. Rooms are typically described as having beds, and daily housekeeping is advertised, although the initial cleanliness issues suggest this might not always be sufficient to maintain standards.
From a promotional standpoint, Suburban Studios Syracuse Fairgrounds positions itself as a "convenient, budget-friendly solution for longer hotel stays," often highlighting amenities like "a kitchenette in your room, guest laundry, free WiFi and TV." Its location "just off Interstate 90 and 690" and "a short drive away from the New York State Fairgrounds" are key selling points for guests seeking proximity to these areas. The hotel also emphasizes flexible booking with "weekly and monthly rates, plus studio suites with no lease required," appealing to those who need temporary housing. However, prospective guests searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" must be aware that the practical reality, as depicted by recent guest experiences, may significantly deviate from the advertised benefits. The critical reviews regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and the inconsistent availability of essential features like microwaves and working appliances directly contradict the expected convenience of an extended stay. While the hotel does allow pets for an extra charge and requires a deposit for incidentals, these details are secondary to the more pressing concerns about the fundamental habitability of the rooms. Potential guests are advised to contact the hotel directly at (315) 218-7800 or +1 315-218-7800 to inquire about specific room conditions and ensure that their individual needs for a functional extended stay are met, given the significant issues reported by previous occupants.

May 11, 2025 · Jacob KatzmanEntrance E, the whole area, had a bad smell and in the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking, it stank of smoke, dead rat, and sweat. I called and asked for sir freshner, he said he would send it up. I'm going to iron to change for our commitment, there's no ironing board. Called again, again he said he would send it over. But then he said he would change my room, I need to back to the front office. I was offered another room in the same E door area, I refused. He then gave me another room which had an ironing board but no microwave. We were running late for our commitment so we took the room so we can get ready. When we finished our engagement, we decided to get our belongings from the room and check out. We did not even sleep there. I'll give the worker some credit, he tried to give another room, (but in the same area) "bad choice". But it needs to get cleaned up, better lighting in the room and a hot breakfast would help instead of continental.
