For travelers seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in the iconic Olympic village of Lake Placid, New York, the Rodeway Inn offers a no-frills, budget-conscious option. Located at 5828 Cascade Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946, USA, it provides a convenient base for exploring the Adirondack Mountains and the numerous attractions of Lake Placid. You can reach them at (518) 523-2817 or via mobile at +1 518-523-2817.
The Rodeway Inn is situated off State Route 73, making it easily accessible and central to many of Lake Placid's key points of interest. Its location in the mountains, bordering a state park, offers a natural setting, albeit one that, according to some guests, may not always be pristine, especially concerning snow removal in parking areas. The hotel is particularly convenient for those visiting the Olympic Center, which features the 1932 & 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum, the Kodak Sports Park, and the Olympic Jumping Complex. Whiteface Mountain, a major ski destination, is also within a reasonable driving distance. Other nearby attractions include Mirror Lake and Lake Placid Village. While the natural surroundings are appealing, recent guest feedback suggests that the property's upkeep can detract from the overall aesthetic, with mentions of un-shoveled lots and general untidiness in outdoor areas. The hotel's proximity to various dining and bar options, some within walking distance, adds to its locational convenience for guests looking to explore the local scene.
The Rodeway Inn aims to provide basic, essential services for budget travelers. Key amenities include complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access throughout the property and in all rooms, and free self-parking, including truck parking. Guests can also benefit from free local calls. The hotel advertises an indoor heated pool and hot tub, though recent reviews indicate these facilities are frequently out of service or in poor condition, which can be a significant disappointment for guests who chose the hotel specifically for these amenities. A complimentary continental breakfast is also typically offered; however, some recent guests have reported its absence or found the options to be very limited, even stating they "never saw one." While the official website mentions a courtesy transportation service, specific details about its routes or availability are not widely emphasized in recent guest experiences. For business travelers, fax services, a business center, and meeting space for functions are available. The front desk is typically open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, though some sources suggest 24/7 service. Laundry facilities are also available on-site, which can be helpful for longer stays or for those participating in outdoor activities.
The rooms at Rodeway Inn are designed to offer basic comfort on a budget. They typically include cable television, ironing facilities, and a small refrigerator. While some sources mention microwaves in rooms, recent customer reviews explicitly state that microwaves are only available in hallways, not in individual rooms. This discrepancy can be important for guests planning their meals. Rooms are generally air-conditioned and feature private bathrooms, often with a shower/tub combination and some with rainfall showerheads and complimentary toiletries. However, cleanliness and maintenance in the rooms have been a concern for some guests, with specific mentions of black mold on shower ceilings and toilets requiring multiple flushes. The hotel notes its participation in enhanced cleaning protocols, including daily disinfection in common areas and the use of anti-viral cleaning products. The hotel also has specific measures for guest safety, including social distancing and acrylic shields at the front desk. While the property has a two-star classification, it aims to provide a functional and affordable stay. For families, children aged 18 and under can stay for free when occupying the parent or guardian's room, using existing bedding. It's important to note that the hotel has a strict "no pets allowed" policy, with only service animals permitted free of charge, contrary to some third-party sites that might incorrectly list it as pet-friendly.

I have stayed here at the Rodeway on/off over the last few years at least 12 times due to the low price when I come up for various LP events. Each year this hotel gets worse. My most recent stay was the end for me. Hallways was/are constantly smelling like smoke/weed, the toilets are so hit or miss and had to hold down the handle for 5 seconds just to get it to flush. I was given a room and when I went in, there was someone already in the room smoking and then the new room they gave me, room #208 specifically had black mold on the shower ceiling. They do not shovel or plow the lots or salt the walkways, and a guest had peed on the steps outside in the snow, it's just so trashy. I parked around back and had to use 4X4 just to back into the lot the snow was so deep. I will say that if you do stay here, you're better off sleeping on top of the sheets, bring your own sleeping bag, and be mindful that there are no microwaves in the rooms, only in the hallways. The hotel staff are very friendly but the hotel is utterly unacceptable and you feel gross staying there. Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere.
Jan 02, 2025 · EvanThe hot tub and pool were the big reason I chose this location, when we arrived we were told they were put of service. The room wasn't very clean. Being that it was near the Adirondack mountains was the only major attraction. I thought there was supposed to be a breakfast, but I never saw one or even a location there could be one held.
Feb 15, 2025 · Johanna VilleneuveSTAY AWAY! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. #1 - our 85 year old father-in-law is disabled and has a very hard time getting around with his walker. They WOULD NOT plow the parking lot despite there being about 4 inches of snow on the ground. I had to ask for a snow shovel to try to clear a path for him. #2 - the pool is advertised as working but has apparently been closed for 'maintenance ' since November. Go check out the Google reviews. We are not the only family b.s. about this. #3 - room was gross when we arrived. Had to ask cleaning to vacuum the floor. #3 - walks are paper thin. I could hear everything going on in the adjoining room. Day 3, got about an inch of rain. The snow became a giant slushy mess. A woman who had broken her hip fell in the lot and re-injured. No plow. This place is a classic negligence case waiting to happen. #4- none of the entrances or exits are locked at night. Totally unsecured so make sure your room doors are bolted. #5 - No amenities. I think we got a tiny bar of soap the last day. The front desk attendant was very courteous and helpful but she could only do so much. Do yourself a favor. Pay a little more and go somewhere else.
Dec 29, 2024 · Allen TaylorI stayed here for my vacation in lake placid and I do not recommend. There was a roach in my room, and the tv wasn’t working. We than were moved to a new room and the shower was so slippery from who cleaned it before I slipped. Also the free breakfast they advertised was orange juice and a quarter sized pancake and the machine was empty. The key cards deactivated so many times aswell. Also they advertised the pool and spa as open and our whole stay it was closed. This was in October and it is December and the reviews still say it’s closed. I was so disgusted I contacted my bank and the hotel said that everything was described and it was not. I have stayed in dozens of hotels and this was the worst unfortunately
Dec 12, 2024 · Woah. CorinneI choose this hotel because it had a pool, hot tub, and breakfast which would all be beneficial to my daughter training there as an athlete at the oval. When I arrived I asked about these features and they said none are working or offered. This is part of the choice hotel chain and should provide what is offered. The place was also dangerous and gross. Fire escape stairs were not cleared of deep snow the entire stay. Parking lot not properly ploughed or entrances cleared and salted. The gfi outlet in washroom in my room was broken exposing the electrical components, every time we turned bathroom light switch on we got a zap. Rooms were completely dated and run down and entire place had heavy smoke and marijuana smell. All outlets were so loose anything we plugged in fell out so we could not charge phones properly etc. Worst hotel experience of my life.
