Perfect hotel for a ski vacation. Rooms were nice and clean and quiet. The fan runs constantly which is nice white noise instead of most hotels that start up a fan and turn off the fan and start it again and causes you to wake up a lot. There were hooks and places for ski gear. It was very quiet, certainly the fan helped, even tho there was a team staying there and I saw plenty of people. I really appreciated the complementary coffee and tea, which was really nice in the morning and after a day of skiing. The staff were very friendly. The valet was really easy and I felt my belongings were safe there in the parking lot. The hotel was very clean. I would say that it was Fairmont level clean. The water was hot for showers at night and in the morning, nice bedding, nice towels, etc. Good location right down town, I wish the stores around it opened earlier or stayed open later, maybe they do in the summer. We will probably return, thanks for a great stay! :)

The Grand Adirondack Hotel enjoys a "good location right down town" on Main Street, placing guests in the very heart of Lake Placid's bustling village. This prime spot means that many attractions, shops, and restaurants are "within walking distance." Guests can easily stroll to Mirror Lake, which offers beautiful views and recreational opportunities, and are close to the iconic Lake Placid Olympic Center, museum, and beach. The hotel's position provides "great views of the Adirondacks & Mirror Lake" from many of its vantage points, including certain rooms and its rooftop bar.
The hotel's design evokes the "historic Adirondack Great Camps of the past," featuring modern Adirondack decor and a welcoming "grand lobby" that captures the region's classic, woodsy aesthetic. This environment creates a sophisticated yet casual atmosphere that reflects Lake Placid's spirit. While the hotel is in a lively downtown area, guests have noted that rooms can be "very quiet," particularly benefiting from the constant fan noise that acts as "nice white noise." The surrounding Adirondack Park offers countless outdoor pursuits, from hiking and cycling in warmer months to being a "perfect hotel for a ski vacation" in winter, with convenient access to nearby ski resorts like Whiteface Mountain.
The Grand Adirondack Hotel strives to provide a comfortable and convenient stay with a range of services. The "staff were very friendly" and helpful, with valets receiving particular praise for their dedication, especially during snowy conditions. "The valet was really easy and I felt my belongings were safe there in the parking lot." While valet parking is available on-site for a daily fee, there is also limited onsite parking (on request).
Dining is a key amenity, with on-site options including Marcy, a brasserie-style eatery serving "good" and "super yummy" breakfast daily (available for a fee). Marcy also offers dinner. For drinks and a more relaxed atmosphere, Marcy Bar provides "artisanal hand-crafted cocktails" and often features "live entertainment." A notable feature, set to open seasonally, is the Cloudsplitter Rooftop Bar, offering "breathtaking" views of Mirror Lake and the surrounding mountains, perfect for cocktails, beer, and wine. Guests appreciate the "complementary coffee and tea" in the lobby, which is "really nice in the morning and after a day of skiing."

The hotel is pet-friendly, making it a viable option for those traveling with pets.
One aspect that has received mixed feedback is the hot water availability. While some recent reviews mention "ample hot water and water pressure," another guest experienced issues, stating they "had no hot water in the mornings and evenings" at prime times and were told staff were "working on it," implying it might be an occasional issue. Similarly, the elevators, while appearing new, have been described as struggling to "keep up" during busy periods, leading to waits. However, other guests report "ample hot water and water pressure," suggesting improvements or variability.
The rooms at the Grand Adirondack Hotel are consistently described as "nice and clean and quiet," with a "very clean" standard that some compare to "Fairmont level clean." Guests appreciate the "spacious" nature of the rooms, and the comfortable beds and "nice bedding, nice towels." The design features "modern Adirondack decor," with locally curated art pieces that aim to create a sophisticated yet casual atmosphere. Rooms are designed with distinct "entry foyer" and "solarium-like sleeping quarter" elements to provide a personal retreat.
Rooms come with essential amenities like air conditioning, a 40-inch TV with cable channels, a mini-fridge, and a coffee/tea maker. Some rooms offer "panoramic lake views" from private balconies/terraces. Specific features like "hooks and places for ski gear" make it practical for winter sports enthusiasts. While the constant fan noise was welcomed by one guest for white noise, providing a quiet sleep experience despite the central location, the bed choice received a "questionable" comment from another guest, though others found beds to be "comfy." Microwaves are available in some family-friendly room options.
The Grand Adirondack Hotel is promoted as a place for "grand times at the lake," designed for those who appreciate "new adventures and the laid-back style of the Grand Adirondack hotels of the past." It emphasizes its role as a "vibrant hub in the heart of Lake Placid for adventure & good times for travelers & locals alike."
Guest experiences often highlight the hotel's prime downtown location, which makes it "perfect to walk everywhere." The hotel's cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the comfortable, quiet rooms are frequently praised, leading many guests to state, "We will probably return, thanks for a great stay!" The complementary coffee and tea are a small but appreciated touch that enhances the guest experience. While there have been some inconsistencies reported regarding hot water and elevator speed, the overall positive sentiment, particularly concerning the staff's dedication and the hotel's aesthetic and location, reinforces its strong appeal. For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Lake Placid that offer a blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and unparalleled access to the village and outdoor activities, the Grand Adirondack Hotel stands as a compelling choice for an immersive Adirondack experience.

Mar 05, 2025 · Lana LouThe summary of our experience was "take it or leave it". That's the attitude we got consistently throughout our stay. The rooms were decent, although I question the bed choice. The elevators appear new when inside, but do not function as new. They struggle to keep up and there us always a wait on any floor. We had a good experience in the restaurant for breakfast daily. We had no hot water in the mornings and evenings. We only had luck getting warm showers early in the morning or late at night. I imagine mid-day probably would work too, but don't count on it at prime times. They told us they were "working on it" but it appeared dismissive and like this was not an unusual occurrence. I have to compliment the valets. It snowed for 2 days while we were there and the valets worked their butts off to deal with all the cars and snow. We were thoroughly impressed by them.
Mar 16, 2025 · Kelly MThis hotel had the MOST UNFRIENDLY employees.. It's so unfortunate. I honestly couldn't believe how rude they were. The room was clean, the walls are VERY thin! the location was great. Will try another hotel next time.
May 09, 2025 · Nicole TrinklRooms were nice but it's a older building and the rooms were narrow and I personally felt a little claustrophobic. Had a lake view which was awesome and the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Great location in middle of town so you can walk to many shops and restaurants.
Feb 10, 2025 · Derek BorisStayed for one night in a King room which was supposed to have a street/lake view. This was partially true from one window, the other had us looking at a parking lot and dumpsters. The rooms are ok but felt a bit sterile to me as opposed to warm/welcoming. Everything appeared clean. The comfort of the bed was fair, but it creaked terribly with every little movement. The walls and ceilings do not promote any noise reduction as you can hear everything from conversations to footsteps. The elevators are EXTREMELY slow. The location of course is amazing. The staff were friendly enough although we had limited interaction. A bit disappointing overall.
