We had an excellent stay at this hotel. When entering the lobby, it was warm and cozy vibes with a beautiful large fireplace and it was also decorated for Christmas. When checking in we had excellent customer service and I wish I had gotten the gentleman‘s name, but he was the operations manager. He did a great job at welcoming us to the location and explained how everything would work. There was breakfast served in the morning and at a cost we didn’t feel it was worth it, but we did not mind walking into town and grabbing a bite to eat there. That was the only complaint I would have about this hotel!! It exceeded our expectations and we really enjoyed the lobby vibes with the fireplace and the free coffee and tea each day. The rooms were very clean and spacious and felt that they were a good price for everything you got. The location could not be beat and we did not need to use our car the entire weekend. We are already looking forward to staying here again and cannot wait to come back to bluebird Lake Placid. The staff location and room exceeded our expectations and could not recommend this hotel. Thank you, bluebird staff and hotel for making our trip very special. We will be back back.

Bluebird Lake Placid Introduce

As part of the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Bluebird Lake Placid stands out as an inviting and well-located accommodation option for those seeking to explore the natural beauty and vibrant activities of Lake Placid, New York. Situated at 2375 Saranac Ave, Lake Placid, NY 12946, USA, this hotel offers a unique blend of modern design and rustic charm, aiming to provide a comfortable and memorable stay for its guests.

Environment and Location

Bluebird Lake Placid boasts an enviable location, nestled between the majestic Adirondack Mountains and the picturesque Mirror Lake. This prime position offers guests easy access to the heart of Lake Placid, with Main Street and its array of shops, restaurants, and attractions often within walking distance. Many guests appreciate the ability to explore the town without needing their car, making it ideal for those who prefer to stroll and soak in the local atmosphere. The hotel itself is set in a scenic environment, with some rooms and common areas offering views of Mirror Lake and peekaboo views of the surrounding mountains.

The hotel's design ethos is a deliberate departure from the more traditional Adirondack lodge style. It embraces a "Japandi" aesthetic, a fusion of Scandinavian and Japanese influences, characterized by clean lines, natural materials, pine-wood paneling, and earthy textures. This creates a cozy yet minimalist atmosphere that feels both modern and deeply connected to nature. The communal areas, including the lobby lounge, are designed for comfort and relaxation, often featuring a large, welcoming fireplace, especially appealing during the cooler months.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the location is a dream. Mirror Lake is just a short distance away, offering opportunities for water sports in the summer and potentially ice activities in the winter. Whiteface Mountain, a renowned ski haven, is also easily accessible, often via a convenient shuttle service from the hotel. The vast Adirondack Park provides endless possibilities for hiking, biking, fishing, and bird-watching. The proximity to the Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum and Olympic Center makes it a fantastic base for those interested in the area's rich sporting history.

Services and Features

Bluebird Lake Placid offers a range of services and features designed to enhance the guest experience. The hotel provides 85 guestrooms or units spread across three levels, many of which have been renovated to reflect the modern Japandi design. Rooms are equipped with contemporary amenities such as 32-inch LCD TVs with digital channels, complimentary wireless internet access (with good speed), air conditioning, mini-fridges, and microwaves. Premium bedding, blackout drapes, and eco-friendly toiletries are also standard, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay. Hypo-allergenic bedding and irons/ironing boards can be requested. Some rooms and suites offer additional space, with options like King Bunk Suites and Party Friends Suites that can accommodate larger groups, making them suitable for families or friends traveling together.

The hotel offers a continental breakfast, though some guest feedback indicates it might not always be perceived as the best value. However, the availability of free coffee and tea in the lobby throughout the day is a welcome amenity. For dining and socializing, the hotel features a bar/lounge and a communal living room. An on-site restaurant and bar named "Après Only" is also a feature, designed to celebrate classic New York ski culture.

Other general amenities include a vending machine, tour/ticket assistance, luggage storage, and a water dispenser. The front desk operates with limited hours, and guests are encouraged to inform the hotel of their expected arrival time. Free self-parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a parking pass provided at check-in.

A notable feature of Bluebird Lake Placid is its pet-friendly policy, which allows dogs upon request. However, it's crucial for guests traveling with pets to be aware of the specific rules, particularly regarding pets not being left unattended in rooms. This policy has been a point of contention for some guests, so it's advisable to clarify all pet-related details, including associated fees ($35 per dog, per night), directly with the hotel when booking a pet-friendly room. The hotel aims to be inclusive, offering ADA-compliant rooms with accessible features like lowered sinks and roll-in showers.

Promotional Information

Bluebird Lake Placid frequently offers special promotions and packages to enhance guest stays. These can include discounts for direct bookings and special offers for military personnel and first responders, providing 10% off their Best Available Rate. The hotel also has a "Love for Local" promotion, offering up to 15% off for New York residents with valid local identification, encouraging staycations and local exploration. Guests are encouraged to sign up for their "On a Lark Club" for exclusive perks like custom recommendations, free room upgrades, and complimentary stays. These promotions are subject to availability, minimum night requirements, and potential blackout periods, especially during holiday weekends.

The hotel's overall marketing emphasizes its commitment to providing a relaxed and inspirational feeling, connecting guests with nature's elements through its unique Japandi design. They aim for their rooms to offer "simple comfort and modern amenities to suit every traveler's needs," allowing guests to "rest easy after a long day of adventure."

Customer Reviews and Considerations

Based on customer reviews, Bluebird Lake Placid generally receives positive feedback for its excellent location, which allows for easy walking access to Lake Placid's main attractions. Guests often praise the warm and cozy lobby vibes, especially with the fireplace, and appreciate the availability of free coffee and tea. The rooms are frequently described as clean, spacious, and offering good value for the price. The staff, particularly the operations manager mentioned in one review, often receive commendations for their excellent customer service and welcoming demeanor.

However, some reviews highlight areas for improvement. As noted, the breakfast might not meet everyone's expectations for its cost. More significantly, some guests have reported issues with pricing discrepancies, particularly regarding pet fees, and a lack of clear communication regarding hotel policies, such as the rule about pets not being left unattended. It's important for guests to confirm all rates and policies, especially for pet-friendly rooms, during the reservation process to avoid misunderstandings upon checkout. Additionally, some isolated incidents of room issues, such as TV damage or poorly sealed windows, have been mentioned, though these seem to be less common. Limited on-site parking and potential noise from in-wall heaters or thin walls are also minor points to consider.

In summary, Bluebird Lake Placid, as featured on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me," presents itself as a compelling option for travelers to Lake Placid. Its modern design, excellent location, and comfortable amenities provide a solid foundation for a pleasant stay. While certain aspects like pet policy communication and breakfast value might require clarification upon booking, the overall positive feedback regarding its atmosphere, cleanliness, and prime access to the town's offerings makes it a highly recommended choice for many visitors to the Adirondacks.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. I spent 20 minutes on the phone (just to reserve my room). I didn’t mind at all waiting for the employee to figure out how to get my reservation in the system….but what did bother me was that I was quoted a rate of 185$ for my night (not including the pet fee), but charged 205$ upon checkout. The man working at the desk upon check out asked me who I spoke with when making the reservation. I wasn’t sure of the name, to which he responded “that’s unfortunate, he gave you the wrong rate”. I was forced to pay a rate I never agreed to (and that was after I repeatedly asked to see a detailed room charge bill, which he could never figure out how to print). He also told me it is a NY state law that dogs cannot be left unattended…I called 3 other hotels within walking distance of the Blue Bird that are also “pet friendly “, and was told by all that it is NOT a law, but a rule of some establishments. I had made this reservation to spend a special weekend with my young daughter (and we brought our dog because the hotel is “pet friendly”). Upon check in , I was informed the rules of the hotel were that the dog could not be left unattended. This was not told to me upon making my (over the phone, speaking to an actual employee of the hotel) reservation (even after being told the indoor pool was out of order and me mentioning we will fill our day with walking around town). The man checking me in also told me “next time, maybe you get a dog sitter”. We ended up stuck in the room because the dog is not allowed at the Olympic museum, in stores , or in restaurants). Let’s not forget we had to change our room because one of the tv’s literally had a puncture hole, only to be moved to another room where the wind relentlessly whistled through the poorly sealed windows. All in all, super terrible experience. I wish I would have stayed literally anywhere else in Lake Placid.

We spent 2 days in Blue Bird Lame Placid. Overall, the hotel was excellent. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The lobby and seating areas were beautifully decorated, creating a cozy atmosphere. It’s within walking distance of downtown and about a 18-20 minute drive to Whiteface Mountain. The complimentary breakfast they offered in the mornings was great. There’s also a drink station available throughout the day with free tea and coffee. The rooms were clean and well-kept. The only improvement I would suggest for the hotel is better soundproofing in the rooms. Additionally, there were no wardrobe for hanging clothes or mirror in the room. We will definitely be coming back!

Location, great! Traveled here with my family for our anniversary, was excited they had a bunk room for our kids. ( bunk bed was very wobbly and looks like it got dragged to the center of the room that destroyed the floor. Wasn’t fixed. Just left all messed up. We’ve been to placid many times. This Hotel is still under construction. They placed us in the furthest room in the wing that construction was still happening in. Right outside of our room in the hallway was a bucket placed over an open spot in the ceiling where rain was falling. Bucket was about half full by our departure. Had a random $25 charge that I asked them about that they couldnt answer what it was for. (Sketchy) All in all, I truly don’t know if I’d recommend staying here to anyone. Maybe in the finished part of the hotel where it overlooks the lake. But I’m highly disappointed in what was supposed to be a special weekend for my wife and I. Staying elsewhere in the future.

Great location right at the end of town. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms are clean, spacious and updated. Every staff member was super friendly and helpful. They even had a puzzle and games in the lobby. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Lake Placid.
