5.18.25 we spent 3 nights and 4 days and absolutely loved it because it was perfect for what we needed. The location was great, close to Main St, all the shops, restaurants, Mirror Lake, and the Olympic Center. It's also close to many hiking trails. The resort offers access to the other buildings. So you have access to an indoor and outdoor pool (outdoor one opens mid-June), plus 2 hot tubs. Our room was spacious and had enough space to lay out our clothes and bags. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Free coffee and cookies were served daily. The decor in the main lobby is very comfy and cool. Many couches and chairs to lounge in and read, hang out. I took many pics.

Situated on Saranac Avenue, it is "right in the downtown area" of Lake Placid, making it incredibly convenient for guests to access Main Street with its array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Guests consistently praise its "great location" and proximity to "all the shops, restaurants, Mirror Lake, and the Olympic Center," often noting that it’s just a "short walk" to these attractions.

The resort's layout is designed to maximize the natural beauty of its surroundings, with many rooms offering picturesque views of the lake and mountains. The ambiance within the resort is described as having a "cozy cabin feel" and an "Adirondack theme," blending rustic charm with modern luxury. The lobby, in particular, is noted for its "very comfy and cool" decor, featuring ample seating and a welcoming atmosphere, sometimes even a "fresh pine Christmas tree smell." The resort's multiple buildings offer varying perspectives and experiences, all within a unified, welcoming environment. It is also close to many hiking trails, catering to outdoor enthusiasts. The property is smoke-free.

Services and Amenities:

High Peaks Resort offers an extensive range of services and amenities designed to cater to diverse guest needs, from relaxation to recreation. A key highlight is its impressive selection of pools: two heated indoor pools, an outdoor pool (seasonal, typically opening mid-June), and two hot tubs. This variety ensures guests can enjoy swimming and relaxation regardless of the weather.

Dining options at the resort are diverse, with two on-site restaurants. Dancing Bears Restaurant serves classic American pub fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while The Deck at High Peaks Resort offers seasonal dining with views. A lobby lounge and bar are also available for drinks and socializing. While full breakfast is available, it is generally offered for a fee (approximately $8 to $18 per person). Guests often appreciate the "free coffee and cookies served daily" in the lobby, a thoughtful touch.

The resort provides a 24-hour front desk with "helpful and friendly" staff, and manager Miguel has been specifically praised for being "exceptional" and "so helpful, so accommodating." Other conveniences include free self-parking (limited to one vehicle per room), meeting and event facilities (over 8,000 sq ft of event space, including the McIntyre Range and Great Range ballrooms), a business center, and a gift shop/newsstand. The resort also offers complimentary transportation, and a spa is on-site for those seeking relaxation and wellness treatments. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

High Peaks Resort is very pet-friendly, welcoming up to two dogs (maximum 75 lbs per dog) for an additional fee of $75 per dog, per day. Special "Peak Pup Amenities" are provided, including a bandana, mat, and food/water bowls, with a portion of pet fees supporting dog-focused charitable organizations. However, dogs are typically not allowed to be left unattended in rooms, and there are specific areas where pets are restricted (e.g., 2nd and 5th floors of the Resort building, Alpine level of Lake House, top floor of Waterfront Collection). The resort also offers various daily events, such as demonstrations of local wildlife and movie screenings, enhancing the guest experience.

Features:

High Peaks Resort is distinguished by its blend of Adirondack-inspired design and modern comfort across its three distinct "experiences" or buildings: the main High Peaks Resort, Lake House, and the Waterfront Collection. This allows for a variety of room types and views. Guests consistently praise the "spacious" and "beautifully decorated" rooms, which reflect the "Adirondack wilderness" theme.

Room amenities generally include premium bedding with pillow-top beds, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-fridges, coffee/tea makers, and private bathrooms with free toiletries and hair dryers. Many rooms offer balconies or patios, providing stunning lake or mountain views. Some suites may include additional features such as fireplaces and whirlpool tubs, further enhancing the luxury experience.

The resort emphasizes "Natural Hospitality™," aiming to provide a welcoming and authentic Adirondack experience. The general cleanliness of the property is highly rated. The availability of multiple pools and hot tubs, along with activities like free kayaking/paddling (seasonal) and access to nearby Whiteface Club & Resort Nordic Center for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, provides abundant recreational opportunities without leaving the property. The helpfulness and responsiveness of the staff, especially the attention from managers like Ozzy (Miguel), contribute significantly to the positive guest experience. The resort also has a "Game Room" for entertainment.

Had a perfect experience here! The location is so convenient - right in the downtown area & across the street from beautiful mirror lake. The layout of the hotel is such that every room has an amazing view of the mountains and lake. The resort has a cozy cabin feel and the rooms are beautifully decorated. They have events almost daily including demonstrations of local wildlife and movie screenings. Very clean and wonderful service too. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful views and convenient, but I brought my dog with me during my stay and there was not an area to throw his waste out on property specifically where I was staying. I was very shocked. The closest one was down the street and I was told to throw it in the lobby which I did not want to do. The parking was frustrating as well and when I checked out I was not aware that I needed a key to leave the hotel and she could have mentioned that when checking out. I was also told the pet fee was going to be $70 and when I checked out she had told me that it was a different amount due to taxes which I understand, but then a donation that I did not approve of. Other than that it was a nice stay

Centrally located. Great facility with many options. Access to many amenities including a wonderful little fishing dock at the waterfront property. I believe all guests at any of the locations have access to this because the keycard worked. Not sure but I'm going with that. This is my third time staying here and I love it.

Stayed in a waterfront from with fireplace in February, booked through hotels.com, where the hotel listing fails to mention that the waterfront rooms are in a separate building from the main resort. This would be fine in summer if you are wanting a room right on the lake and the walk to the main resort for things you might need is easy. While the view of the frozen lake was nice, if I'd known we would be in a separate building, I would have booked something else. We wanted a cozy lodge experience but the lakefront building only consists of rooms, and we didn't want to have to bundle up and trek through the snow at night to go enjoy the resort amenities. We also didn't utilize the indoor pool because we didn't want to have to travel back to our room wet, through the cold. By the time we found out we were in a separate building at check-in, they were fully booked in the main resort and we were unable to change rooms. I also wanted some hot tea at night and the only thing available in our room was Nespresso pods. I asked the front desk for some and was told I had to go get it from the restaurant (free for guests) who then tried to charge me for it (but after I insisted I was a paying guest they let me have it). Just a bad experience. Some teas in rooms and even snacks/drinks for purchase would be nice given this is a resort, and especially for those rooms separate from the main building if we have to trek through snow to get anything other than what's in the vending machine. All in all this is a nice place - just would have been nice to make a more informed decision when booking so we could have had a better experience given the price. I'd stay again knowing what I know now and would book my room location according to the season and what I'm wanting to do. Edit to add: $50 per night hold on your card for anything you might purchase in room but no in room options available as mentioned above. Plus an additional $25/night resort fee the we paid on checkout that feels excessive given the lack of amenities for the lake house and price paid to begin with.
