I would not recommend staying at this hotel. Check-in was hectic and lines were so long it was hard to tell which line was for what. Luckily we had a wagon for our luggage as the walk from the parking garage to the hotel elevators is very long and you will have to navigate through a very busy hotel lobby. The elevators are another story, many were either out of service or had faulty keypads inside (I personally witnessed many passengers miss their intended floor). My family checked in Easter weekend and it was severely overcrowded. It didn’t feel like there was enough staff to deal with this size of a crowd. The lobby was also overrun with rowdy teenagers and there was a very noticeable marijuana smell throughout the lobby. Since there was no visible security, this was not a surprise. One one evening my family was threatened with physical violence for walking through a crowd of teens blocking passage through the lobby. The waterpark is really not worth the expense. The lazy river had a long wait due to the large crowd and teens cutting lines, there really was no organization whatsoever. The one pool appropriate for my 5 year old was closed, the guard refused to answer any questions on when or if the pool would reopen. My son did enjoy Sunday morning at the arcade since the crowd was fairly light and there were no complaints about the room (Ocean View). Food options were very limited so we ate our meals at the Hard Rock.

Showboat Resort Atlantic City Introduce

When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Showboat Resort Atlantic City stands out as a unique option, particularly for those seeking a non-casino, family-friendly environment. Located directly on the iconic Boardwalk at 801 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA, this resort aims to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience, diverging from the traditional casino-centric model of Atlantic City. The "Hotels Near Of Me" category emphasizes convenient and locally relevant accommodations, and the Showboat Resort certainly offers a distinctive proposition with its focus on leisure and family attractions.

The environment at Showboat Resort Atlantic City is characterized by its grand scale and its transformation into an entertainment hub. Positioned directly on the Boardwalk, it offers immediate access to the beach and the vibrant atmosphere of Atlantic City's most famous promenade. The resort has undergone significant renovations, with guests appreciating "newly renovated rooms" that are described as "nice and clean," signaling a positive shift from its past. However, the environment can also be severely impacted by crowds, especially during peak times like Easter weekend, when it was "severely overcrowded." This overcrowding can lead to a chaotic lobby, with "rowdy teenagers" and a "very noticeable marijuana smell." The reported lack of "visible security" contributes to a sense of disorder, with instances of families being "threatened with physical violence for walking through a crowd of teens blocking passage through the lobby." While the intent is to create a lively family atmosphere, the reality can sometimes be overwhelming and potentially unsafe due to the sheer volume of guests and management of crowd control.

The services at Showboat Resort Atlantic City are designed to support its entertainment offerings, but the execution can be inconsistent, particularly during high-traffic periods. The check-in process is described as "hectic," with "lines so long it was hard to tell which line was for what," indicating a need for improved organization and staffing for guest arrival. The long walk from the parking garage to the hotel elevators, requiring navigation through a "very busy hotel lobby," further complicates the check-in experience, especially for those with luggage. Elevator service is also a point of concern, with many reported as "either out of service or had faulty keypads inside," leading to missed floors and inconvenience. This suggests infrastructure challenges in managing high guest volume. In terms of staff, the sentiment is that there is "not enough staff to deal with this size of a crowd," affecting overall service quality, particularly in areas like the waterpark where guards reportedly "refused to answer any questions." While the resort aims to provide a full range of services, the sheer volume of guests can strain resources and impact the quality of guest interactions and operational efficiency.

The features of Showboat Resort Atlantic City are its primary draw, especially for families. The "Island Waterpark" is a major attraction, though experiences can vary due to crowds, "long wait" for attractions like the lazy river, and "teens cutting lines." It's also noted that sometimes pools might be closed, with a lack of information regarding reopening, which can be disappointing for families. The "MEGA Lucky Snake Arcade" is another significant feature, offering extensive entertainment for children and teens, and is praised when crowds are light. The resort is distinctly "no casino in here," which is a key feature distinguishing it from many other Atlantic City properties and making it particularly "great with kids." The rooms themselves, especially the "Ocean View" rooms, are generally well-received for their comfort and cleanliness, with guests glad to see "the old carpet go" in favor of "newly renovated rooms." This indicates an ongoing effort to update and improve the guest accommodations. However, food options within the resort are noted as "very limited," leading guests to seek dining outside the premises, such as at the Hard Rock.

Promotional information for Showboat Resort Atlantic City heavily emphasizes its unique positioning as a non-casino, family-friendly destination on the Boardwalk. The primary draw for promotional efforts revolves around its large-scale attractions: the Island Waterpark and the MEGA Lucky Snake Arcade. The resort is marketed as offering a "perfect price point for a summer time getaway," highlighting its affordability for families seeking a fun-filled vacation. The ongoing renovation of rooms is also a key promotional point, reassuring guests about the quality of accommodations. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with children in mind, the Showboat Resort's distinct focus on kid-friendly entertainment sets it apart from traditional Atlantic City establishments. While the resort aims to provide a comprehensive experience, potential guests should balance the appealing promotional aspects of its family-focused attractions and renovated rooms with the reported challenges regarding overcrowding, service consistency, and managing guest behavior, especially during peak seasons. The resort's appeal lies in its commitment to being a dedicated entertainment hub for all ages, making it a noteworthy consideration for those seeking a different kind of Atlantic City experience.

We love the Showboat. Perfect price point for a summer time getaway. The newly renovated rooms are nice and clean. Glad to see the old carpet go! Can't wait till all rooms are fully renovated. Great place to stay with kids especially because of the MEGA Lucky Snake Arcade as well as the Island Waterpark! There is no casino in here so again, great with kids.

From all of the negative reviews, I was concerned but we had a great time. If you decide to visit, your experience will be what you make of it. Cons: -Our first room was dirty with a previously broken lock, permanent odor in the bathroom, and the AC didn’t work. -General safety concerns. Cracks in arcade windows like someone had previously tried to break it, anyone can access elevators. -The indoor pool was way too crowded and loud for young children feel and be safe, even early in the day. Pros: -Lots of games to play that we all enjoyed (mini-golf, claw machines, and mini-bowling. Our youngest (3yo) really loved mini golf and the carpets. -After speaking with one of the front desk associates, we were upgraded to a room that was much better and we were able to relax. -Our experiences with staff were all positive, and most all people we came across were friendly. -The self-park entrance wall murals were nice, as well as the art work in our first room. Everything would obviously benefit from upgrades but i hope the original art stays.

The arcade is awesome! The way it's set up as a kid casino made me giggle. The staff here was very nice. The water park was okay for what it was but definitely could have been better. The employee running The Lazy River was a little lax allowing no order at the entrance/exit and didn't remove the man passed out in a tube. The adult area of the water park needs more of a vibe and a hot tub. The elevators to the rooms are horrible! I get that they are old, but I felt unsafe at some points. They're loud and sketchy. We stayed in the Bourbon Tower. There is no consistency in the rooms. We had a joining room with our family and the beds were different. They had nice mattresses, ours were horrible. THERE WAS NO MATTRESS COVERS ON THE MATTRESSES! THIS IS A FAMILY HOTEL, PEOPLE SWEATING THEIR SLEEP CHILDREN HAVE ACCIDENTS, IT'S DISGUSTING! Thankfully I bring my own blanket because I slept on top of all of their bedding. We had a decent amount of broken/bummed furniture. The shower was short. I'm 5'6 and I'm saying I barely fit. There was no luggage carts unless you did valet which is crappy cause you gotta go from the parking garage to the hotel if you don't have someone to watch your stuff at the main entrance while someone parks the car, it can be hard if you don't have rolling luggage. They have something really cool here if they put in a little more effort. Definitely worth going to the arcade. I would stay at a different hotel though if they don't step their game up.

I booked a room here for the weekend with my wife expecting a 3-star hotel experience - it was a 2-star at best. Most of the issues stem from the room: our room was in the New Orleans section. The room was incredibly dated, the toilet had a slow leak around the foundation, the wall outlets were so worn-out that our cell phone chargers would fall out instantly, as many other reviews mention, the sheets were just a basic sheet thrown over the mattress (not even fitted),the hot water in the shower was lukewarm at best. We were so disappointed We ended up checking out a day early. I will admit the room appeared to be clean for the most part, just needs A LOT of updating. The hotel as a whole needs to be cleaned up - scuff marks on the carpet and walls, trash strewn about in the lobby, lazy permissive parents letting the kids run up and down the hallways at all hours of the night. The front desk did not answer any of our calls. The parking garage is actually where the got it right, paying digitally for days at a time allows you to go in and out during your stay without a hassle. Also we didnt have issues with the elevators; they seemed to all be working and were able to use them to get around quickly. The view from our room as also nice( we could see the bay and ocean). I've stayed in 1 and 2-star hotels, I don't mind them if that's what was marketed to me. But this hotel was advertised as a 3-star, and it absolutely wasn't. They need to either step it up and update their building and rooms and clean the place up, or charge less. I don't relish this, but I will not stay here again unless Im in a real pinch.
