If I could give this hotel zero stars I would. DO NOR STAY HERE. The hotel is an old run down building the first night of my stay there were bugs all in my room including on my pillows. The entire hotel reaks. The staff is horrible and does not care about the customers concerts. The entire first floor is home to permanent residents which the majority are slinging dope out of the hotel. If you are wanting to stay in berlington do yourself a favor and find a different hotel than this roach motel.

You can contact them at (802) 860-1986 or +1 802-860-1986 for reservations and inquiries.
The environment at Smart Suites on the Hill is a subject of varying perspectives. While some descriptions from the property's official channels aim to portray a welcoming and comfortable stay, particularly for extended-stay travelers, recent guest reviews present a different picture. The hotel is described as an older building, and some guests have noted it appears run-down, with visible signs of wear such as half-pulled-up, wrinkled, and dirty carpets, holes in walls, and missing wallpaper and fixtures. A strong, unpleasant odor throughout the hotel, particularly in common areas and hallways, is frequently mentioned. Guests have also reported issues with cleanliness, including mold in showers and a general sense of disrepair. The property seems to cater significantly to long-term residents, which some visitors perceive as impacting the overall atmosphere, leading to concerns about noise levels, including loud music and barking dogs. The presence of what some guests describe as problematic activities on the first floor has also been raised as a significant concern, contributing to an environment that some travelers found unsettling and not conducive to a pleasant stay.
Regarding services, Smart Suites on the Hill operates with a front desk, though some guests have described interactions with staff as unhelpful or lacking in detailed information about the building and its amenities upon check-in. The hotel does offer essential services such as daily housekeeping, which some guests found to be satisfactory within their rooms despite issues in common areas. Laundry facilities are available on-site, which is a key amenity for extended stays. Free self-parking and free Wi-Fi are provided, offering convenience for guests. The property also indicates it is pet-friendly, though this comes with an additional fee. While the official website mentions complimentary hot coffee, other sources indicate a complimentary continental breakfast, which some guests found to be basic or missing. Some amenities, like a fitness center, hot tub, and pool, are listed as available, but they are noted to be located off-site or within walking distance rather than directly on the property. There are also mentions of a snack bar and vending machines for convenience. However, a significant concern raised by guests is the lack of visible security or staff on the property during night hours, leading to feelings of unsafety.
The features of Smart Suites on the Hill are primarily designed to accommodate longer stays. The rooms are typically configured as suites, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options. These suites are equipped with kitchenettes, which usually include a refrigerator, microwave, and sometimes a dishwasher, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. Each room generally provides a private bathroom, satellite/cable TV, and a coffee maker. Air conditioning and heating are also standard features. Some suites may even offer a jetted tub. For those seeking to maintain an active lifestyle, access to a fitness center is provided, although, as mentioned, it is not on-site. The property's design aims to provide ample living space, which can be a significant advantage for guests staying for extended periods. The pet-friendly policy also makes it a viable option for travelers with furry companions, provided they are aware of and willing to pay the associated fees. The property is also described as being 100% smoke-free.
When it comes to promotional information, Smart Suites on the Hill, being part of the Ascend Hotel Collection, often highlights its value proposition, particularly for extended stays, and its location within South Burlington. They emphasize the convenience of being close to attractions such as the Church Street Marketplace, Waterfront Park, University of Vermont, Champlain College, and various shopping centers. While specific, ongoing promotional offers like discounted rates for longer stays or seasonal packages may be available through various booking platforms, these are typically dynamic and subject to change. The presence of kitchenettes and laundry facilities are key selling points for guests looking for a more home-like experience at a potentially more affordable rate than traditional hotels. The property is also marketed as being ideal for business travelers, relocations, and families seeking longer stays. However, it is crucial for potential guests to thoroughly research and manage their expectations based on recent customer feedback, which points to significant disparities between the advertised features and the current condition and environment of the hotel. Given the strong negative feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and safety, any promotional information should be considered in light of these reported issues. It is highly recommended to contact the hotel directly or review very recent guest experiences to get the most up-to-date and accurate understanding of the property before booking.

Dec 16, 2024 · Tyler PrattThis place was horrible! I felt like I was in the shinning but then realized the shinning would have been better. There is no real front desk. You walk in to a dirty disgusting smelling room. Walk straight ahead to a rude woman who seemed like she didn't want to be there. She checked us in told us nothing about the building or it's amenities. We turned to find the elevator and the carpets were all half pulled up wrinkled and dirty beyond a cleaning. There are holes in the walls, missing wallpaper and fixtures. The smell continued to get worse. Someone tried to leave dryer sheets in the elevator to help but it didn't. We got out on our floor, there was screaming and yelling, horrible smells, loud music blasting and dogs barking. When we got to the room it wasn't dirty. But there were only 2 billows on the bed, the bathroom towel bar was missing leaving holes and the shower was molded. I don't recommend staying there. I think this place needs a complete remodel or be shut down. I think they need to enforce rules of no smoking in the lobby. No sitting on people's cars while you drink. No bbq'ing on your balcony, no loud music after midnight. Also there was no security, house keeping or any staff on property at night. Not safe I think those are reasonable requests.
Jun 22, 2024 · Kari PerezStay as far away as you can. The rooms look like they haven’t been cleaned since the 90s, you have to check in and park then walk from a different motel 1/4 mile away. Just save yourself bedbug bites and your sanity and go anywhere else.
Nov 20, 2024 · R WGWe stayed in room 462, for a week in July, great view of lake Champlain, sail boats, (David)i think was his name, cleaned our room spotless, everything was there that we needed. Front desk Karen was super friendly and helpful, enjoyed talking to her, other 3 we ment were very friendly also. Huge laundry room and entrance. Close to shopping and tons of restaurants. Also within walking distance. King bed was so comfy, plenty of pillows. Big closet, separate from the tub and toilet Was the vanity with big mirror, hair dryer. Nice deck to take in the view..we will definitely stay here next year. Thank you karen for a great stay..you rock!!
Jul 26, 2024 · fran smithRoom was OK, no toaster, shower was not hot, needs anti slip mat in the tub. Would not use the jetted tub. Common areas need work, dark and dirty as others have noted. Night clerk was hesitant to look up from her phone to check us in. Overall not impressed.
