The fried calamari was done perfectly. Tender, not overcooked like in so many restaurants. And a heaping bowl full.

The "Tavern" provides a more casual dining experience, serving as a local hangout with a revolving menu. Customer reviews highly praise the food quality, with specific mentions of "perfectly done fried calamari," "efficient oysters and clams for the price," and a "very tasty" passionfruit martini. The "duck spring" was noted for its "very unique flavor." This highlights a strong emphasis on culinary excellence, making it a destination not just for lodging but also for dining. For events, The Chequit offers private event spaces, including an elegant indoor dining room, suitable for celebratory dinners, corporate events, or family occasions. While largely positive, some reviews mention potential minor issues like small room sizes without space for a chair in some instances, and concerns about noise from adjoining rooms if they have old, thin connecting doors. One review also noted that "full cable" might not be available, suggesting a more limited TV channel selection. However, the overall impression is one of a well-maintained and tastefully updated property that offers comfort and a sense of place.

It positions itself as an ideal escape for couples and families looking to explore the laid-back charm of the island. Key promotional aspects include its "recently renovated" status, highlighting both preservation and modern comforts. The emphasis on its culinary offerings, particularly the "great revolving menu" at the tavern and the fine dining experience, serves as a significant draw. The hotel's historical significance, being a property that has hosted guests for over 150 years, adds to its unique appeal. The availability of complimentary electric bikes for guests is a notable promotional feature, encouraging exploration of the island's beaches and farm stands. The hotel also promotes its suitability as a venue for private events, showcasing its sophisticated indoor dining room and dedicated event coordinators. Located in a tranquil setting, The Chequit offers a peaceful retreat while still being accessible to the island's attractions. A quaint spot with a lot of attitude. The tavern/bar is a nice eating venue with a great revolving menu. Their oysters and clams were very efficient for the price. The passionfruit martini was also very tasty. The duck spring had a very unique flavor and almost convinced me to order a second round!! We took the truffle fries to go, and the taste wasn’t as I expected it, probably due to them sitting in the fridge overnight. Looking forward to my next trip back!

We came here for lunch as part of a group trip on a bus. The food was amazing but I feel the service aspect was not ready for the group. Take it we had close to 50 people but they knew we were coming. Service was extremely slow and staff seemed confused. It was off season and we were the main guests. I feel they probably were overwhelmed.

Tavern dining is always great here. Everything I’ve tried has been spot on. Fun, comfortable, and nice atmosphere. Plenty of space at tables or bar and a pool table to boot. Had a great soup special and burger last time I was here. Friendly staff.

Attended an engagement party here. The food was fantastic. The chef saw that we had a toddler and came out to ask if there was anything she would like then make her a special plate of her favorite (Mac and cheese). Great place for a party and for kids. Highly recommended.
