This hotel is fantastic. The location is ideal to be just far enough away from the noise, yet near the heart of the town, so everything is walkable. We were in a double queen and the antique furniture and wall hangings gave us the feel of being in a lovely residence rather than a hotel. The bathroom was huge and had everything needed, There was no tub, but a wonderful large rain shower. The beds were some of the best we've ever slept in! They were unbelievably comfortable. There is a fridge and little drink station, but no coffeepot or water kettle in the room. There is however, a cozy tea room in the basement with snacks, tea, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages. (We brought our own coffee pot, cups, snacks, etc. and there was plenty of room for everything.) There is no front desk or staff which was actually nice, and no key is needed, just a code to get into the hotel and room which you deactivate upon check out. The price was super reasonable (of course we are in the off season), but there is free parking for one car behind the hotel. Everything was well appointed and made our stay one we will remember.

Mar 27, 2025 · Karima Fouad ShaverWe have stayed here several times, each time in a different room, and they have all been wonderful. The rooms are all incredibly sophisticated and nice. The owners did an amazing job fixing this place up. They offer great little amenities like sparkling water and cookies. The bathrooms in each room have been so amazing. They are the type of bathroom that make you wish you could have the same thing at home. The location here is great as well giving you easy walking distance to all the good stuff in Portsmouth, but the street is still nice and quiet at night. Highly Recommend.
Feb 06, 2025 · David DyerThis gorgeous boutique hotel is nestled on a quiet street downtown, and is walking distance to everything Portsmouth has to offer. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate. There is truly an impressive attention to detail. Our room even had fresh flowers and the sheets were ironed! The owners are kind, and helpful. We loved the homemade cookie brittle in the snack and coffee room! Check in process was a breeze, communication was mostly done via texting, and we received a code to check into our room. We experienced no problems whatsoever, but I trust that if anything came up it would have been solved immediately. That wonderful feeling of elevated relaxation is what will bring us back again. We can’t wait for our next stay at The Davenport Inn!

The rooms are beautifully appointed and there’s a classic New England feel to the Inn. The intimate size of the Inn makes you feel like you’re staying at a family friend’s place. You also can’t beat the location — easy access to all the restaurants and shops that Portsmouth has to offer. Would definitely recommend the Davenport Inn for your next New England getaway!
Feb 11, 2025 · Forest CriglerOur stay at the Devenport was excellent. The location and amenities were wonderful. The hosts were super friendly and accommodating. The homemade raspberry almond cookies were delicious. The rooms were very clean and luxurious. Everything was top quality. We stayed during the Valentine's/President's Day weekend and the personal touches were appreciated. It was an all-around great experience and we look forward to visiting again.
