The hotel is conveniently located at Tribeca. The room was cozy, and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere. However, I have to give one star for the bar. While one server was very nice, the bar manager was quite rude and impolite. The main issue was with the check: a mandatory gratuity of up to 30% was added. Since when are tips calculated based on prices before happy hour discounts? While I understand the importance of tips, I didn’t appreciate their way of conducting business. The charge wasn’t announced anywhere or mentioned when we ordered. This issue was worsened by the horrendous behavior of a server who was anything but friendly. When I later inquired with the hotel staff, they claimed it was common in NYC. I invite them to confirm whether this is the official policy of the bar by commenting on my review and clearly stating it on the menu. It felt like this “mandatory gratuity” was targeted and a tourist trap, perhaps because we were foreigners. For these reasons, I recommend the hotel but suggest avoiding the bar if you don’t want to be charged unexpectedly.
The Frederick Hotel is a gem nestled in the heart of Tribeca, offering a unique blend of Italian hospitality and New York City charm. This luxurious establishment provides guests with a cozy and elegant environment, making it an ideal destination for those seeking comfort, style, and convenience. With its prime location near the Chambers Street subway station and the Financial District, The Frederick Hotel is perfectly situated for both business travelers and tourists exploring the bustling streets of Manhattan.
The hotel boasts a range of amenities designed to cater to every guest's needs. From the moment you arrive, you'll be greeted by professional and courteous staff, including bellmen who offer efficient luggage storage and transportation assistance. The property also features easy access to a parking garage just a 4-minute walk away, with rates starting at $45 per night for compact vehicles and $55 for SUVs—a convenient option for those planning a longer stay.
One of the standout features of The Frederick Hotel is its commitment to providing a delightful dining experience. Guests can enjoy a variety of options on-site, including a popular Italian restaurant known for its authentic cuisine and fine dining atmosphere. The hotel's bar and lounge area offers a vibrant setting for guests to unwind with carefully curated drinks, though it’s worth noting that the mandatory gratuity policy (up to 30%) has been a point of contention among some visitors. While the overall service at the hotel has received high praise, including the friendly demeanor of the front desk staff and the inclusion of complimentary breakfast with a variety of tasty options, the bar experience may not be as seamless for all.
Location-wise, The Frederick Hotel is ideally positioned in Tribeca, offering easy access to some of New York City's most iconic landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods. Whether you're exploring the Financial District, strolling through SoHo, or enjoying the cultural offerings of Manhattan, this hotel puts you right at the center of it all. Additionally, the hotel’s proximity to public transportation ensures that getting around the city is a breeze.
Customer feedback highlights The Frederick Hotel's strengths and areas for improvement. Many guests have praised the hotel for its clean and well-maintained rooms, with luxurious linens and toiletries that enhance the guest experience. However, some reviewers have noted that the rooms can feel smaller than average compared to other NYC accommodations, though they emphasize that the exceptional service compensates for this minor drawback. The comped breakfast is another highlight, offering a variety of options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences.
While the hotel's location, service, and dining options make it a top choice for many visitors, there have been some negative reviews regarding the bar experience. Issues such as mandatory gratuity practices and rude staff behavior have left a sour taste in the mouths of some guests. The hotel has been urged to clarify its policies and improve staff training to ensure that all patrons receive the same high-quality service they expect from a luxury establishment.
For those looking to avoid potential pitfalls, it’s recommended to steer clear of the bar or seek alternative dining options within the area. Despite this minor issue, The Frederick Hotel remains a strong contender for travelers seeking a blend of elegance, convenience, and Italian charm in the heart of New York City.

Jan 31, 2025 · Thibaut GGorgeous hotel that provides stellar service. The bellman were professional and courteous. Luggage storage was convenient and easily accessible. Loading zone is right out front and easy to access. Parking garage is a 4 minute walk from the hotel: $45 a night for compact/$55 for suv. Metropolis is the garage (most hotels we stayed at use them) and we are always happy with the service. Comped breakfast was tasty with lots of options. The front desk was incredible and made our stay very enjoyable and stress free. Queen room was a bit small compared to what we have had in past nyc trips! Service made up for it. Hotel is very clean. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner are included. Linens were always clean and fresh and the room was very clean. We definitely recommend BUT beware that the rooms are smaller than average. Very good location, next to chambers street subway station and the financial district!
Dec 28, 2024 · JakeCute hotel in a great part of town, close to everything but very quiet. We had just got in from a 16 hour flight and they let us check in early which was phenomenal. We enjoyed the fitness center and the complimentary breakfast. We slept very well. Great spot that’s walkable and quiet!
Dec 31, 2024 · Indya FlanaganHad a great experience at The Frederick. The room was gorgeous and spacious, the bathroom was nice and clean, and the robes were amazing. The TV can also be angled any direction you want so you can watch while lying in bed or on the couch. Amazing experience and I will be coming back!
Jan 03, 2025 · Spencer GoldsteinI absolutely loved my stay at The Frederick Hotel! The hotel is so beautifully decorated and is located in such a convenient area for exploring New York. It was especially great to have a subway entrance so close for getting back and forth from Penn Station. The room was very comfortable and clean. I also loved the neighboring restaurant Serafina - delicious food and gorgeous rooftop views!
