For those seeking a delightful and convenient stay in the picturesque Hudson Valley, particularly when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Rhinebeck, New York, The Gables of Rhinebeck presents itself as an exceptional choice. Located at 6358 Mill St, Rhinebeck, NY 12572, USA, this historic 1860 Gothic Revival Victorian home offers a charming bed and breakfast experience, perfectly blending historical elegance with modern comfort and an enviable central location.
Environment: Historic Elegance Steps from Village Life
The Gables of Rhinebeck is steeped in history and architectural beauty. As an 1860 Gothic Revival Victorian, the inn boasts distinctive features such as its fifteen gables, high ceilings, period moldings, and wide plank floors, all contributing to a sense of timeless elegance. The property is set on a half-acre of land, featuring beautiful perennial and ornamental gardens with shade trees, a fire pit, a web swing, and Adirondack chairs, providing ample outdoor space for guests to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings, especially "in season."
One of The Gables' most compelling environmental advantages is its fantastic location. Situated on Mill Street, it is just "one short block to the heart of town," meaning guests can "walk to everything Rhinebeck has to offer." This unparalleled proximity allows for easy access to Rhinebeck's renowned array of gourmet restaurants, charming boutique shops, art galleries, and cultural attractions. Popular dining spots like Bread Alone (known for its excellent coffee and pastries), The Amsterdam, Le Petit Bistro, and Market Street are all within a stone's throw. The vibrancy of Rhinebeck village is literally on your doorstep, yet the property maintains a sense of peaceful seclusion once inside its grounds. A notable characteristic of the immediate vicinity, mentioned by guests, is the presence of a church next door, whose bells ring every hour and half hour from 7 am to 9 pm. While this adds to the village charm for some, it's a point to be aware of for those desiring a completely silent morning.
Beyond the village, Rhinebeck serves as an excellent base for exploring the wider Hudson Valley. Attractions such as the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Wilderstein Historic Site, Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Bard College, and the Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck are all within a short drive. The natural beauty of the region, including Poets Walk and Ferncliff Forest, provides opportunities for scenic strolls and outdoor activities.

The Gables of Rhinebeck is known for its friendly and attentive proprietors who are "respectful of your privacy." This personalized approach to hospitality is a hallmark of boutique inns, ensuring guests feel welcomed and cared for. The owners live on-site and are available when needed, contributing to the intimate and home-like atmosphere.
Accommodation: The inn features four exquisitely appointed rooms/suites, each with its own unique design and character. Rooms are described as "charming, well decorated," "clean," and "cozy," with comfortable beds. Amenities typically include luxurious linens, pillowtop mattresses, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen Smart TVs with satellite/cable channels, air conditioning, and a fully equipped private bathroom. Three of the four rooms boast clawfoot tubs, adding to the historic charm. One room, "Rockhouse," is a two-bedroom suite, offering a queen bed and a separate room with two twin beds, ideal for families or those needing more space.
Breakfast & Refreshments: While The Gables of Rhinebeck states it is "not a B&B" in the traditional sense, it provides a delightful complimentary morning offering of "the very best Coffee + Croissants!" Guests consistently rave about the "wonderful" coffee (MUD NYC) and fresh croissants, often accompanied by fresh Hudson Valley fruit. This convenient and delicious start to the day is a highly valued service.
Common Areas: Guests have full access to three shared common areas within the house. These inviting spaces allow guests to relax, work, or socialize. Additionally, a stand-alone carriage house provides an extra spot for summer lounging. The half-acre fenced-in yard with gardens also serves as a common amenity, offering opportunities for outdoor relaxation or light recreation like badminton, ladder-golf, and cornhole.
Other Services: The Gables provides free on-site parking, a significant convenience in a village setting. Daily housekeeping is provided, though guests have noted a preference for "Do Not Disturb" signs for those who prefer no entry during their stay. While the trash was removed when guests were out, some prefer absolute privacy, indicating a minor area for potential enhancement. Luggage storage is available, and there is a 24-hour front desk to assist with inquiries. Free toiletries and hair dryers are provided in bathrooms. The inn offers contactless check-in and check-out options, with check-in typically between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM.
Features: Boutique Charm and Walkable Convenience
The Gables of Rhinebeck distinguishes itself with several key features that appeal to a specific type of traveler:
Historic Gothic Victorian Architecture: The very structure of the building is a feature, offering a unique aesthetic and a glimpse into 19th-century design. Its tasteful decoration, blending antique furnishings with modern comforts, creates a cohesive and appealing style.
Exceptional Walkability: Its location "just one short block to the heart of town" is repeatedly highlighted as a major advantage, allowing guests to fully experience Rhinebeck's shops, restaurants, and attractions without needing a car.
Intimate Size and Personalized Service: With only four rooms, The Gables offers a highly personalized and quiet experience. The attentive proprietors are on-site, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction and a home-away-from-home feel.
Delightful Breakfast Offering: The focus on high-quality coffee and fresh croissants for breakfast, though a continental offering, is a much-appreciated touch that elevates the stay.

Promotional Information: An Objective Overview
The Gables of Rhinebeck consistently receives very positive reviews, with guests frequently rating it highly for its location, cleanliness, and staff/service. The proprietors are often described as "friendly and attentive," making guests feel "very comfortable." The coffee and croissants receive widespread acclaim. Guests express a strong desire to "stay again" and "highly recommend" the inn.
However, an objective review also considers minor points of feedback. As noted by a customer, the proximity to a church means "church bells ring every hour & half hour from 7am-9pm," which can make "sleeping in unachievable" for some. This is a point to be mindful of for light sleepers or those who prioritize late mornings. Another minor suggestion from a guest was the provision of "Do Not Disturb" signs, indicating a preference for no entry into the room during the stay, even for trash removal. While the inn provides daily housekeeping, this feedback suggests a small refinement for those who value absolute privacy. It's also worth noting that pets are not allowed at The Gables of Rhinebeck. Upper floors are accessible by stairs only, which might be a consideration for guests with mobility challenges.
Overall, The Gables of Rhinebeck is ideal for travelers seeking a charming, intimate, and centrally located accommodation in Rhinebeck. Its historic character, attentive service, and delightful morning refreshments make it a highly appealing option for a relaxing getaway. For bookings and the most up-to-date information on rates and availability, interested users can contact them directly at (845) 613-9955 or +1 845-613-9955. Given its limited number of rooms and high popularity, especially during peak seasons and events, early booking is highly recommended to secure a spot at this wonderful Rhinebeck inn.

May 04, 2025 · George BehnGreat location, walkable to everything Rhinebeck has to offer! Charming, well decorated home. Our room was clean (minus a few cobwebs on art), bed was comfortable & hosts were attentive & friendly. My only suggestion is providing guests with "Do Not Disturb" signs to hang on the door exterior if room care isn't needed/wanted. It was clear the trash had been removed when we were out for the day, which was thoughtful, however, my preference is to not have anyone enter while I'm staying anywhere. Just an option for other's like me. That said, we'd return. Croissants & coffee in the morning are a nice touch & the gardens are probably lovely in season. Be forewarned, church bells ring every hour & half hour from 7am-9pm, it made sleeping in unachievable. The church is next door.
Apr 21, 2025 · Kari CookGreat location! We parked at the Gables and everything is within walking distance. Great amenities! Everything you need. Great host! Friendly, personable and respectful! The little sun room was so relaxing. Bed was amazing. Tub is out-of-this-world. We would love to come back.
Apr 03, 2025 · Shandra ShumateThe room was clean and cozy. Every detail was thought of. The innkeepers, John and Pam, could not have been nicer. I looked forward to the coffee and freshly baked croissants every morning. Will stay there again next time I’m in town.
Mar 28, 2025 · Kim DeForestI have stayed here twice and absolutely adore the charm, cleanliness, and closeness to town. I've stayed in two of the rooms -- once in the Red Rocks, the other time in Storm King. The house is utterly charming. You can hear a gurgling fountain, can smell delicious croissants baking when it's time to wake up. Great water pressure for a good shower after a long day. Best part: you can walk to all of the amazing restaurants Rhinebeck has to offer. You can walk to the County Fairgrounds and to a pretty impressive Farmers' Market on Sunday. We can't wait to come back next year!
