I鈥檝e been staying here for breaks from life since the late 90s and it has always been amazing! Even though I missed the little chocolate on the pillow and the astromaria in the bathroom, it still stands for me an amazing stay. The rooms are so unique and it鈥檚 fun to stay in a different one each time and the spa was a wonderful addition several years ago and you can鈥檛 miss Krazy Kats! Delicious as always, and this main stay in Delaware has stood the test of time through the pandemic. I can鈥檛 forget to mention the beautiful great room as well and if you get the chance, hit the back burner if you are in the area, another great place! Amazing sheets comfy beds pillows Bathroom quality top notch with the size and marble Grounds lovely and picturesque Quiet in a soothing way 馃┓馃┓馃┓馃┓馃┓
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the tranquil and picturesque setting of Montchanin, Delaware, The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa stands as a uniquely charming and historically significant option. Officially recognized as a "Historic Hotel of America," this establishment at GPS: 528, 528 Montchanin Rd, Montchanin, DE 19710, USA, offers far more than just a place to stay; it promises an immersive experience rooted in history, luxury, and serenity.
The environment of The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa is perhaps its most distinguishing feature. It's not a single hotel building in the traditional sense, but rather a collection of meticulously restored 19th-century buildings that once comprised a historic hamlet. This village-like setting creates an exceptionally picturesque and quiet atmosphere, as described by guests who highlight the "Grounds lovely and picturesque" and the overall feeling of being "Quiet in a soothing way." This unique layout means that each room or suite is housed within one of these distinct historic structures, offering a truly individualized experience. The charm of its historic preservation is palpable, transporting guests to a bygone era while still providing modern comforts. The "beautiful great room" also contributes to the inviting and historically rich ambiance, serving as a communal space where guests can relax and appreciate the architectural heritage. This village concept makes for a truly unique stay, far removed from the uniformity of typical chain hotels.
The services at The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa are designed to complement its unique environment, aiming for a high level of guest satisfaction. The staff at check-in were described as "nice," indicating a generally welcoming and polite demeanor. While specific concierge services or extensive room service details are not provided in the reviews, the overall impression from long-term guests suggests a consistent quality of service. The presence of a spa, which was noted as a "wonderful addition several years ago," signifies a commitment to guest well-being and luxury. Guests can inquire about spa services and appointments by calling (302) 888-2133 or +1 302-888-2133. This direct line also serves for general inquiries and reservations, facilitating seamless communication with the hotel staff.
A key feature of The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa lies in its accommodations. Guests consistently praise the "unique" nature of the rooms, with one long-time visitor expressing the enjoyment of "staying in a different one each time." This suggests that each room or suite has its own distinct character, often reflecting the historical origins of the building it occupies. Amenities such as "Amazing sheets comfy beds pillows" and "Bathroom quality top notch with the size and marble" indicate a focus on luxury and comfort in many aspects of the room design. The bathrooms, in particular, appear to be a highlight, offering spaciousness and high-quality finishes. The historic charm is further accentuated by thoughtful touches, though one guest did note missing "the little chocolate on the pillow and the astromaria in the bathroom," suggesting some minor changes over time in small decorative details.
The on-site dining experience is another prominent feature, with "Krazy Kats!" being specifically mentioned as "Delicious as always." This suggests a well-regarded restaurant that serves as a culinary draw for both hotel guests and locals alike. Having a high-quality restaurant within the village enhances the overall guest experience, providing convenient and enjoyable dining without needing to leave the property. The mention of "the back burner" as "another great place" if in the area also indicates a connection to other local culinary offerings, hinting at the broader gastronomic appeal of the region surrounding the Inn.
However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging areas where guest experiences have varied. Despite glowing reviews for the general comfort and uniqueness, one recent guest provided critical feedback regarding the bedding. This guest found the "beds and pillows are AWFUL," describing the pillows as "just fluff" and the bed as "just springs," leading to significant discomfort and a lack of sleep. This suggests that while some beds may be "comfy," there can be inconsistencies in mattress and pillow quality across different rooms. The same guest also reported issues with a window that "just falls open from the top" and an "awful" TV, which hindered their ability to relax and enjoy in-room entertainment. While these might be isolated incidents or specific to certain rooms, they are important points for potential guests to consider, especially those who prioritize firm bedding and in-room entertainment. The suggestion of bringing one's "own pillows and a mattress topper" from this guest highlights a potential concern for light sleepers or those with specific bedding preferences.
In terms of promotional information, The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa, as a "Historic Hotel of America," often participates in exclusive programs or offers related to its historic designation. Historic hotels often offer packages that combine stays with local historical tours, spa treatments, or dining experiences. Given its status as a "main stay in Delaware" that "has stood the test of time through the pandemic," it likely has established loyalty programs or recurring seasonal offers. Its inclusion in the Historic Hotels of America collection also implies a certain standard of preservation and service that might appeal to those seeking culturally enriching travel experiences.
In conclusion, The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa & Spa offers a truly unique and memorable experience for those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Montchanin, DE. Its strength lies in its charming historic village environment, picturesque grounds, well-regarded spa, and the highly acclaimed Krazy Kats restaurant. Feb 17, 2025 路 Caralee Crary MA MEd NCP LPCThe inn itself is cute and the rooms are adorable. The beds and pillows are AWFUL. The pillows are just fluff. I had to use a blanket to try and put some support under one. The bed is the worst I鈥檝e slept on. I鈥檓 a big fan of firm beds. But this is just springs. You feel every single one of them. We hardly slept and feel like we need massages just from laying on this bed all night. Everyone was nice on check in and we didn鈥檛 use them for anything else. The window in the room also just falls open from the top when you try and open it. It was so hot we needed some type of air flow even with the heat turned all the way down. I might come back and try a different room. But I鈥檇 bring my own pillows and a mattress topper. The tv was also awful. If we wanted to lay in bed and watch a movie we couldn鈥檛. We had planned on lounging until check out time, but are getting out as quick as possible now
Feb 28, 2025 路 Abbey SWarning!!! 鈿狅笍 this place is not child and handicap, friendly. No ramp for a stroller or a wheelchair only concrete steps. The first day we checked in my seven-year-old daughter slipped from the slippery unsalted concrete steps and she hurt her hip, chin and ankle. It was so scary and devastating for us. (See picture below) they should list it on their website as an adults only, do yourself a favor do not bring your children there you will regret it like we did.
Feb 14, 2025 路 Eddie GironBecause of issues at the hotel we originally booked we ended up at The Inn at Montchanin last minute on a Saturday night. And I am so glad we did. It was more money than we wanted to spend for just a quick overnight but we were a bit desperate but I can say it is absolutely worth it. I only wish we could have stayed longer to take full advantage of the property. Also I would much rather give a local historic business that money than some upscale hotel chain, so it was also worth it in that regard. We had the standard single room and most times when it is described as "cozy" it really means tiny. Not in this case. It was cozy in every sense of the actual definition. Yes the room is on the smaller side but with only two of us it was plenty big. The atmosphere of the property is very quiet and serene. Extremely gorgeous and nice to walk around. Of course no place is perfect and the only nit picks I would give is in some areas it definitely shows its age. In some areas this adds to the rustic feel and appreciated but in others it could use some TLC. We could also hear the people above us walking around and talking. And also their dogs, which while we love dogs the book says no pets, and they were barking quite early. The only other nit is there was not enough hot water for both of us to shower. None of those items would keep me from going back. I would in a heartbeat and definitely plan to go again.. for a longer stay.
Oct 21, 2024 路 John Rowefor the price .. I expected an exceptional B&B with real (wood, gas) fireplaces in the hi end suites that I booked. Was shocked to learn at check in that there hasn't been breakfast since 2020. And the "fireplace" was some junky electric thing mounted on the hearth .. that put out no heat. VERY expensive for basically just a bed with sitting room. Caveat Emptor.
