For those searching the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform for accommodation in the picturesque coastal region of Maine, The Lighthouse Inn & Suites offers a distinctive option. Located at 20 Nubble Rd, Cape Neddick, ME 03910, USA, this establishment provides a balance of convenience, essential amenities, and proximity to some of Maine's most iconic landmarks. It serves as a practical choice for travelers seeking a no-frills stay with easy access to the scenic beauty of the Cape Neddick area.
The Lighthouse Inn & Suites boasts an excellent location on Nubble Road in Cape Neddick, a serene and beautiful neighborhood that is conveniently "away from the highway." This prime position places guests within easy reach of several key attractions. Most notably, it's just a short walk from the famous Nubble Lighthouse, a truly iconic symbol of the Maine coast and a popular spot for photography and scenic enjoyment. The inn's address also places it close to the "quaint beach" in the area, likely referring to the nearby Short Sands Beach or Long Sands Beach, which are both within walking distance (approx. 0.2 to 0.5 miles). The surrounding area is characterized by a mix of residential properties and other lodging options, creating a pleasant coastal ambiance.
Being situated in Cape Neddick offers a more peaceful setting compared to the bustling heart of York Beach, yet it maintains excellent accessibility to all the activities and amenities York has to offer. Guests can enjoy leisurely strolls to the beaches, visit the Nubble Lighthouse, and easily drive to York's Wild Kingdom, shops, and restaurants. The environment is well-suited for those who appreciate a quieter retreat after a day of exploring the coast.
The Lighthouse Inn & Suites offers a variety of room types, including standard rooms and suites, some of which may be located in a Carriage House. Accommodations typically feature options with one queen bed, two queen beds, or two double beds, designed to cater to different traveler needs. Each room comes with a private bathroom, ensuring personal space and convenience. In-room amenities generally include a mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV with cable channels (often 32-inch), air conditioning, heating, and free Wi-Fi. Premium bedding is a common feature across rooms, and some units may be individually decorated or furnished, adding a unique touch.
However, it is important to set realistic expectations regarding the quality of the rooms, as some past guest feedback has indicated a "motel quality" experience. Specific concerns raised by guests include "highly noticeable stains on the futon," "cheap blinds," a "noisy heating system," a "flimsy mattress," "light covers," and "old furniture and carpet." While the hotel indicates recent updates such as "cozy new beds and fresh new linens," and more "new furniture, new bathroom vanities, rugs, and extra comforts," these improvements may not uniformly apply to all rooms or address all past concerns. Some rooms, particularly in the Carriage House, might offer terraces or patios, and select King Suites may include two private decks.
The property also features a seasonal outdoor pool and an outdoor spa tub (hot tub), which are open from approximately late May to mid-September. These amenities provide excellent opportunities for relaxation and recreation during the warmer months. Free self-parking is available on-site, a valuable amenity in a popular coastal town. The property also includes a garden and a terrace for guests to enjoy.
The Lighthouse Inn & Suites provides a range of services aimed at making guests' stays comfortable and convenient. A significant highlight, as noted by a very optimistic guest, is the "great service" and "super friendly and accommodating" staff, with specific mention of a staff member named Morgan who went "out of his way to help us feel accommodated and welcomed." This suggests a commitment to customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast, which is a valuable addition for guests. A vending machine is also available on-site for snacks and drinks.
Check-in typically begins at 3:00 PM and ends at 9:00 PM, with check-out by 11:00 AM. The front desk operates during limited hours (daily from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM). While the establishment is generally considered family-friendly, it's worth noting that pets are generally not allowed. Concierge services are also offered, which can assist guests with local recommendations and planning. Housekeeping is typically provided on request, aligning with standard motel practices. The focus is on providing a functional and accommodating base from which guests can explore the area, rather than an extensive list of in-house services.
For those searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," The Lighthouse Inn & Suites appeals to travelers looking for a reasonably priced stay with an excellent location in Cape Neddick, particularly for accessing Nubble Lighthouse and the beaches. The promise of an outdoor pool and hot tub, combined with free breakfast and parking, adds to its value proposition. While specific large-scale promotional packages may vary, the inn often provides discounts such as 10% off the best available rate for AAA and AARP members, valid on new reservations and not combinable with other specials. These types of offers cater to budget-conscious travelers and loyalty program members.
However, it is crucial for potential guests to balance the positive feedback on location and staff with the critical review regarding room quality. The review stating, "Would NOT recommend this for more than one night" due to room conditions (stains, flimsy mattress, old furniture) suggests that expectations should be managed. While a booking made with the help of a friendly staff member can create optimism, the objective reality of the room's condition is an important factor. Therefore, for those prioritizing location and a budget-friendly option for a short stay, The Lighthouse Inn & Suites might be a suitable choice. For guests seeking a more luxurious or updated room experience, particularly for extended stays, it would be wise to consider alternative options or directly inquire about recently renovated rooms if available. The seasonal nature of the pool and hot tub (closed from mid-September to late May) is also a factor for off-season travelers.

Mar 31, 2025 · SJ WalkerThe inn is nicely located away from the highway and close to the quaint beach in a beautiful neighborhood area. Service was great. However, the quality of our room was questionable. Highly noticeable stains on the futon and clearly minimal investment in the rooms overall. Expect motel quality- Cheap blinds, noisy heating system, flimsy mattress, light covers, old furniture and carpet. Thankfully we were only using this as a checkpoint. Would NOT recommend this for more than one night.
Oct 17, 2024 · Michael RamnauthLook, the rooms worked great for my family of four and the beds were extremely comfy. Is it a 5 star resort? No. But the room and amenities were all clean and well-kept, the area was safe and quiet, the pool was clean and had its own towels available for use, and we had no issues at all. Overall, the property is pretty dated, but for a 3 night stay we really enjoyed ourselves and didn't need anything fancy. Great place for a family!
Aug 30, 2024 · Kaity McClaineThe 4.3 rating here is surprising. Perhaps I caught a bad room but I found it very motel-esque, dank/musty, lack of hooks to hang things, and the sound (i.e. voices) really leaked from beside and above. It is more like a 2.5 or 3 but I am giving 2 stars to balance out overly generous ratings. The pros were toilets and shower working well, pretty comfortable beds along with clean sheets, and free coffee in the lobby every morning (a nice, simple touch). Cannot comment on the pool as I did not use. Room had a fridge/microwave and coffemaker. Parking fairly accessible and location was good — close enough to walk to town (10-12 mins). Lastly, note that there is no maid service by default; you have to hang the sign out to signal you want your room cleaned.
Sep 07, 2024 · Anthony ErtlClean and good location. But it stops there for our expeirence. -Air Con did not work, but did blow luke warm air all night but we had a fan that would only work on jet engine mode. -Ice bucket (good) no liner (bad) and it was all wet inside of the bucket. I sterilzed it and then got a small garbage bag from the front desk for the ice. It was plenty big enough :-) -The deadbolt lock on the way out would not work with the key but it did work while inside the room. -With no AC we tried to open the windows to get a cross breeze but the screen from bathroom window was missing. -We had a small coffee machine in the room (good) but no filters or coffee (bad). Who travels with their own coffee and filters for a hotel coffee machine? It was our 30th anniversary and were not looking for 4 or 5 star but it did seem like a 3 star on their website. I just don't see the value at $240 per night for what they delivered.
