Located at 68 Garrison Avenue, York, ME 03909, USA, this resort is designed to provide a comfortable and engaging experience for RV travelers, blending convenient access to the beach with a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere. It is particularly known for its welcoming management and the various activities it hosts throughout the season.
The environment at Flaggs RV Resort is centered around its superb location, being less than 500 feet, or about a five-minute walk, from the picturesque Long Sands Beach. This proximity allows guests to easily enjoy the cool ocean breezes and the beauty of the Maine coastline, providing direct access to sandy shores for relaxation and activities. The resort's setting is described as "quiet and friendly," offering a serene escape despite its close proximity to popular attractions.
Flaggs RV Resort is conveniently situated close to a variety of local attractions. York's Wild Kingdom, Maine's largest zoo and amusement park, is nearby, offering family-friendly entertainment. Excellent outlet shopping opportunities and a diverse selection of restaurants are also within easy reach. The iconic Nubble Lighthouse is visible from various points along the shoreline, including Long Sands Beach, and is a short drive away for closer views at Sohier Park. Mount Agamenticus, offering panoramic views of the Atlantic coastline, is also accessible for hiking and outdoor enthusiasts. The resort's location, while providing a peaceful base, ensures that guests have convenient access to the best that Southern Maine has to offer. The park itself is reportedly well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant stay for its visitors.
Flaggs RV Resort is primarily a campground offering RV sites, with some sources mentioning "3 air-conditioned rooms featuring fireplaces and LCD televisions" or "32 individually decorated and furnished guestrooms," though the majority of its offerings are geared towards RVs. It features 81 full hookup sites, including 30-amp and 50-amp options, catering to various RV sizes. While some reviews suggest sites can be tight, the core amenities are designed for RV comfort.
A key amenity is the seasonal outdoor swimming pool, providing a refreshing spot for guests to relax and cool off during warmer months. The resort also boasts a communal firepit, which is often lit nightly, creating an inviting atmosphere for gathering and storytelling. This communal aspect is a strong point for the resort, with management reportedly hosting "multiple events through the season keeping everyone involved and included." These events can range from games nights to other social activities, fostering a sense of community among guests.
Other general amenities at Flaggs RV Resort include:
For those who prefer not to leave the resort for every need, there might be a small food shop or provisions nearby, and typically ice pack freezing and gas cylinders available. Leisure activities on site might include a games room, and there are often nearby options for fishing, watersports, and leisure/theme parks.
The most significant features of Flaggs RV Resort, highlighted by satisfied guests, are its "great location" and its "well managed" and friendly atmosphere. The owners and staff, particularly "Nancy and Mike," are frequently praised for being "very friendly" and for their active role in hosting events and fostering a welcoming community. This personal touch seems to be a major differentiator, with some guests becoming "vacationer/now family" due to the exceptional way the owners conduct business.
The resort offers a specific type of experience that appeals to those who appreciate a quiet and traditional camping atmosphere, perhaps reminiscent of "a page out of the past history book." While not a luxury resort, its charm lies in its simplicity, cleanliness, and the direct access it provides to the natural beauty of Long Sands Beach. The community firepit and organized events add a social dimension that many RV parks lack, making it a place where guests can truly feel included and engaged.
The pet-friendly policy is another important feature, though it comes with specific rules. Dogs are generally welcome, but there is typically a daily fee (e.g., $10 per dog, per day), and strict rules apply, such as dogs needing to be leashed outside the RV and not left unattended. Some reviews mention that dog walking might be restricted within the park itself, requiring walks off-property. It's crucial for pet owners to clarify these policies directly with the resort to avoid unexpected fees or restrictions.
While detailed promotional information is best obtained by contacting Flaggs RV Resort directly, they may offer seasonal rates or packages. For example, some sources indicate that holiday dates might incur a slightly higher nightly fee (e.g., $10 more per night). Rates can vary, with 30-amp full hookup sites starting around $95 per night and 50-amp sites at $105 per night. It's worth noting that rates can be subject to change, and direct inquiry is always recommended.
The resort operates seasonally, typically from May 15 to October 15, catering to the prime Maine summer and fall foliage seasons. Check-in is generally after 12 p.m. (or 2 p.m. on some platforms) and check-out by 11 a.m. (or 12 p.m.).
The guest experience at Flaggs RV Resort is a mixed bag, as is common with many properties, but generally leans positive for those seeking what it offers. Guests who appreciate a "quiet and tidy seasonal small camp ground" with "honest, real accommodations" and a strong sense of community tend to be very satisfied, often becoming repeat visitors. The direct beach access is universally praised. However, some reviews indicate concerns regarding specific policies, such as the cancellation fee (a non-refundable $75 cancellation fee for reservations canceled over 30 days in advance is mentioned in one review, and varying cancellation policies apply depending on the length of stay - e.g., $35 for nightly, $60 for weekly), or the charges for pets. There are also mentions of tight sites or older facilities.
It is important for prospective guests to align their expectations with the type of experience Flaggs RV Resort provides. It is not a luxury resort with extensive modern amenities, but rather a classic RV campground offering a friendly, well-located, and engaging seasonal stay. For those who value a strong sense of community, direct beach access, and a quiet retreat in their RV, and who are prepared for the specific policies regarding pets and cancellations, Flaggs RV Resort can indeed be a "great campground in a great location," making it a viable option when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" for an RV vacation in York, Maine. For specific details and to ensure a smooth booking process, potential visitors should call Flaggs RV Resort at (207) 363-5050 or +1 207-363-5050.

Oct 14, 2024 · Alyson ChaseBooked last 2 nights in September 1st of October for family memorial service in kittery. Saw they charge $10 per dog, per day and called to cancel over 30 days ahead of reservation. Person was rude and hung up on me when I questioned the $75 cancelation fee... we should have read the website more closely but $95 per night plus pet fees was out of our budget.
Aug 29, 2024 · Evan KersteinVery well maintained clean campground family owned campground. Will definitely go back camp again. Campground 500 ft to ocean. Oct 23, 2023 · Greg HoltNancy and Mike are so personable and helpful. They provide a special touch. The campground is clean and nice and so close to York Beach, only a short walk away. I would definitely come here again. Thank you Nancy and Mike for making our stay so nice!
Jul 30, 2021 · Denny KleinNothing worse to hear as a full time RVer is “We don’t have your reservation!” Reservations were made a month earlier all up the coast of Maine and this was the first one actually made. Talked to the owner Nancy & told her we were a 43 Ft toy hauler that carries a motorcycle. She said we would have to unload it at the office and keep it parked there. She took my credit card information and told me that we could stay longer than four days if we wanted. Some campgrounds send email confirmations and some do not but I check my junk mail to be sure. We Showed up on August 1st and no reservations and no spot to put us in! Everyone makes mistakes but what made this so bad is the owner wanted to blame me for not checking to make sure I had received an email! I made so many reservations for months and every place does things differently so I was not alarmed about no email confirmation. The bad thing was that the owner was saying one thing to me and another thing to her husband or to another RV place on the phone when she stepped outside on the call I could still hear what she was saying! The owner is not an ethical person and should have taken responsibility for dropping the ball instead of blaming the customer! Thank goodness the place down the road had an opening and $30 cheaper than being packed in like sardines at this campground for a whopping $72/night!
