Very nice hotel. Rooms were clean. We went off season so the outside pool was closed but there were 2 indoor pools. The staff were nice, there was coffee and water in the lobby. The walls are thin though, we could hear kids running up and down the hallway. Nice location, beach is right across the street, a lot of little shops nearby. I think they have a lounge/bar area near the pool but I didn’t utilize it

The area is a classic New England coastal community, offering a mix of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The setting allows guests to park their car and largely explore on foot, which is a significant advantage in this popular tourist destination. The property's design, with rooms on the first floor allowing cars to pull up directly, and higher levels accessible by elevator, caters to convenience for all guests.
The Anchorage Inn is a substantial property with over 200 rooms and 28 suites, spread across three distinct buildings: the Main Building, The Atrium, and The Ocean Suites, each offering a different ambiance and set of features. This variety ensures guests can find accommodation to suit their preferences and budgets.
Common amenities across all room types generally include a mini-fridge, single-cup coffee maker, wireless internet, flat-screen TV, landline telephone, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, and iron & ironing board. While rooms are generally described as clean and comfortable, some guests have noted that walls can be "thin," leading to noise from hallways. Reviews also highlight the "better view than I expected" from some rooms, and the "little patio was a plus!" for others.
Beyond the rooms, the inn offers an impressive array of on-site features:
The Anchorage Inn is generally considered family-friendly, and unlike some other properties in the area, it is also pet-friendly (check for specific policies and fees as these can vary).
The service at The Anchorage Inn is consistently praised by guests. Reviews frequently mention "nice staff" and instances of staff being accommodating, such as fulfilling a request for a room not on the ground floor for a single woman traveler. The availability of "fruit water" in the lobby is a small but appreciated touch that contributes to a positive guest experience. While the Sun and Surf Restaurant provides full-service meals during its operational season, the poolside café offers a more casual option. Daily housekeeping is typically provided.
The range of amenities, particularly the multiple pools, caters to diverse guest needs, ensuring entertainment and relaxation regardless of the weather. The hotel aims to be a complete resort, providing conveniences that minimize the need for guests to leave the property often, beyond exploring local attractions. The overall experience is designed to be comfortable and convenient, providing a solid base for a Maine vacation.
While one review noted "thin walls" and noise from children in the hallway, this is a common challenge in many hotels and can depend on the specific room location. However, the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding cleanliness, location, and staff attentiveness suggests a generally satisfying guest experience. Check-in is typically at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

In addition, The Anchorage Inn offers year-round discounts for AAA and AARP members, providing 10% off the standard rate. They also offer a 10% military discount for active duty or retired military personnel. These promotions cater to a wide audience and provide value to guests. May 13, 2025 · KimmieI had a nice stay at your hotel. Traveling as a single woman I requested not to be on the ground floor and I was accommodated, which I appreciate. The room was clean with a better view than I expected, little patio was a plus! Fruit water was yummy. Location was wonderful. I took walks on the beach each day, easy 2 miles to lighthouse. Thank you for a nice stay
Mar 11, 2025 · cheryl vickeryI recently stayed here and while the location and amenities were decent, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the front desk staff. From check-in to check-out, the team came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. Simple questions were met with eye rolls or curt responses, and it felt like I was inconveniencing them just by being there. Travel can be stressful enough, and the front desk is usually where a warm welcome sets the tone. That just didn’t happen here. A bit more courtesy and professionalism would go a long way in improving the overall guest experience. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional training to ensure future guests are treated with the respect and kindness they deserve.
Apr 24, 2025 · Kristen MarianoMy family and I came up two years in a row, and the last time we were there, was in August 2001. I loved my stay here. It is quaint, calm, peaceful and it's just right if you're looking for a quick, closeby getaway. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. There is the ocean across the street (spent everyday over there). The balcony area is nice as well, if you're looking to chill out before bed or something, it is a nice sight and sound to take in before you close your eyes for the evening. It is also a nice way to begin each day, providing that same effect, just on the opposite end of the clock. We visited Fun-O-Rama, Nubble Light (their food is really good) and met some really friendly, awesome folks who were also vacationing. I would recommend the Anchorage Inn to anyone who might be second guessing it, or trying to find better. Look no further. Give these guys a call, they won't disappoint. I really loved my stay here. I miss all the awesome people that I met, while staying here. We stayed in touch for a few years, and then sadly lost touch. They were also vacationing. Now, go make some memories of your own. And have a great vacation at the Anchorage!
