I was last at this property when it was a Renaissance, probably about 25 years ago. This trip was outstanding! Such a beautiful and historic property! Check in was excellent and spot-on perfect! The person checking me in hit all the points and he was very helpful! He upgraded me to an executive king room. When I got to the room, I was amazed to see a wet bar as soon as I opened the door. Walking in, this was a very big room with a separate living room and separate bedroom. Very beautifully appointed too! In all, I enjoyed an excellent stay here!

I do not understand the hype for the mayflower. This seems like a decent place for conferences. The rooms were normal sized. My city view window was just looking at another building and this was at the topmost floor of the hotel. The staff are definitely nice & courteous but found it a bit old fashioned. I can definitely see it working for older people. My issue was with the Edgar restaurant. The prices were too out of whack. 27$ for a 2 egg breakfast with potatoes and bacon. Also the staff were kinda reluctant to give out the hop on hop off tickets which were part of the destination fee.

A friend booked two rooms for each of us. When we arrived, the hotel only had one room for us and the staff were totally perplexed. Eventually, after much explaining and delay, we got a second room. Midway through the trip, my friends got a message thanking them for staying, even though they had not checked out. This was a total false alarm and led to wasted time and stress. Upon checking my credit card statement after leaving, I see two mysterious charges. No email, no receipt, no nothing. The lobby was nice, the rooms were OK, but I just would not stay here again after dealing with issue after issue in terms of check-in and payment.

Had a lovely stay here for the cherry blossom festival. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Fun bar in the lobby that also does a nice breakfast. There are always several taxis waiting out front; and right on a metro station (red line) making it easy to get around (just four stops to Union Station). It was also a doable walk to get to museums and the Mall. Expensive — but worth it.

Great spacious rooms. Unfortunately the windows do not shut out the noisy police sirens on Connecticut avenue. The AC in the room was quite noisy. The lift and the lobby give you the feeling of being in another era which was lovely. Short distance to White House. There is 24 hr Surfside taco place not too far away which is a big plus. Great Hotel Great Location which could do with some modern updates.
