We loved our stay at the Newbury! Andrew, at the check in desk, was very kind and made us feel so welcomed when we arrived. Our room was because and spotless. The gym was the nicest hotel gym that we have experienced and has everything you need to keep up your workout routines. Our breakfast at the street bar was delicious and we loved getting to look out at the gardens while we ate. We will definitely be back. Thank you to Andrew and all the amazing staff who made it such an excellent stay at the Newbury!

May 11, 2025 · Heath TenneyDO NOT STAY HERE Almost hard to describe, but as we went to bed at 11pm for my wife’s 5:30 flight, we began to hear the sound of hammering and construction. It just kept going. At 12:30 am I called down to the front desk to complain and was told they’d investigate. The hammering stopped, but the sound of a drill continued and I fell asleep with headphones When I went down to the front desk in the morning they confirmed it was the sound of construction. They tried to say it was emergency elevator repair, but there was no elevator anywhere near us. My theory is they were doing construction on a room without a permit overnight to avoid detection. Regardless, it resulted in one of the worst night of sleep of my life. Which is funny considering i was in such a luxurious comfortable bed. They bought my breakfast to apologize and probably try to avoid this review. But nobody should ever stay here if they want a relaxing night of sleep. We booked this hotel to get a good night of sleep before my wife’s flight and instead we are both zombies. Stay somewhere else.
May 14, 2025 · Cooper SmithUnfortunately, our experience at this hotel in Boston did not meet expectations. Many essential services, including guest services and the concierge, were outsourced, which impacted the quality and consistency of service. Overall, it did not feel like a true five-star experience. To make matters worse, we’re now dealing with unexpected extra charges after our stay, which has been frustrating and disappointing. I have been trying to get hold of Melissa and Reda to investigate the extra charges with no luck. The extra charges are not related to authorization. The extra charges have to do with taking our luggage to our rooms and taking them down, which did not happen and we took care of our own luggage. The other charges have to do with a wrong day of check out that was put. My check out date the one that i put in the booking does not match the day that was in the papers
May 10, 2025 · Safia Al-NaimiSo why did I give this hotel a 3 star ranking? Here is why: 1. Although the rooms are nice and big, they were not easily used by guests. The lighting switches were not intuitive, and the lights were oddly connected so that when you tried to dim one set of lights, they all dimmed in the room. In addition, there was no space in the refrigerator for anything other than their costly mini bar items. As a diabetic who wanted to refrigerate insulin, this was a problem. 2. The hot water in the shower was inconsistent. First it seems fine and then it gets cold. When you turn up the water it gets too hot and then gets cold again. 3. The room cards (used for the room, elevator, library...) stopped working for all of us in our party at least twice. It necessitated a trip to the front desk each time and a wait in line. 4. They offered a "breakfast" in the library, but it was not enough to fill you. Obviously they want you to eat in their restaurant because there was only coffee, tea, croissants and a some fruit. At the price you pay for a room, they could at least offer juice, bagels and water. 5. Do not stay on the fourth floor if you are not part of the party on the second floor. The music from the party travels up to the rooms because the ballroom is two stories high. 6. There was no real lobby. There were only 2 chairs by the reception desk. If you are waiting for someone there is limited space to sit and you are sitting right by the lines of people waiting to check in, check out, or get their key cards fixed. 7. The parking ($85 per night) is outrageous. On the plus side, they did have a nice fitness facility, they provided turn down service with slippers, and the rooms were well decorated and very clean. They had robes available, an iron, a steamer and a Nespresso machine in the rooms. The staff was very friendly too.
Mar 31, 2025 · Rachelle YablinRooms are OK, but a bit small. Single sink in a room with two beds. Design of room and hotel is nice and has more character than other luxury brands. No comfortable seat to read on, just the window bench. Service was an F for a 5 star hotel. Bellman hangs out inside for some reason, but there are 6-8 stairs immediately inside the front door, so by the time they see you, you've gotten past the hard part. Breakfast is at the restaurant on the 17th floor, which is pretty nice, but they fail to tell you that it's a popular brunch spot, so if you're staying there on the weekend, you'll get turned away if you don't have a reservation. First time that's ever happened to me at a 5 star type hotel. Ordered room service for the following morning, didn't show up, so I called down, turns out whoever answers the phone didn't actually give the order to dining or something, so they then figured it out - they must have still had my order since I didn't have to give it to them again, but at this point I have to inhale my food in order to make it to where I needed to be. Park view rooms, at least the lower ones, are subject to street noise due to the stoplight in front of the hotel, particularly on weekends there are noisy motorcycles and cars. Location is the main redeeming quality of this hotel, it's prime right at the top of Newbury St. Service is just not up to US 5 star standards, more like 3 star service unfortunately.
