I stayed here for business and was very impressed by the attentive service throughout my visit. Anytime I needed anything, the front desk answered the phone promptly, and any request—whether room service or otherwise—was handled quickly and professionally. I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a junior suite. The separate bedroom and living/work area made it easy to unwind and stay productive without compromising rest. It was a welcome layout for a multi-day business trip. The restaurant food and cocktails were delicious—definitely worth enjoying even if you’re not staying in. I’d absolutely stay here again. That said, the rooms are starting to feel a bit dated. It didn’t impact my comfort too much, but the tub/shower combo was the main downside. For a suite-sized room, the shower was surprisingly small, and the curtain setup was awkward—either blowing inward or letting water spill onto the floor. A modern walk-in shower would make a big difference. Overall, though, a superb stay with excellent service and amenities.
For those navigating the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Boston, the Fairmont Copley Plaza stands as an iconic and highly regarded choice. Located at 138 St James Ave, Boston, MA 02116, USA, this historic luxury hotel has been a symbol of Boston's elegance and social life since its gala opening in 1912. Often referred to as the "Grande Dame of Boston," it offers a blend of classic charm, sophisticated amenities, and an unparalleled location in the Back Bay neighborhood.
The environment of the Fairmont Copley Plaza is one of grandeur and historical significance. The hotel is housed in a magnificent Beaux-Arts building designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, the architect behind other famous hotels like The Plaza in New York City. Its stunning limestone and buff brick exterior immediately convey a sense of timeless luxury. Inside, guests are greeted by an exquisite lobby, often called "Peacock Alley" since the 1920s, which features a grand staircase, gilded ceilings, and marble accents, reflecting its rich history. The overall ambiance is one of classic elegance, where "modern elegance meets culinary artistry" and "modernity mingles with history." While some guest feedback suggests that certain aspects of the rooms are "starting to feel a bit dated," they are generally described as having "so much charm" and being "refreshed with luxurious finishings." The hotel's location overlooking Copley Square, adjacent to architectural masterpieces like Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library, further enhances its prestigious and visually appealing environment. Despite being in a busy city center, the hotel maintains a sense of refined tranquility within its walls.
In terms of services, the Fairmont Copley Plaza is renowned for its "attentive service throughout" and "excellent service." Guests consistently praise the "superb" and "wonderful friendly staff" who are "always ready to help with a smile" and handle requests "quickly and professionally." The front desk is available 24 hours a day, offering prompt assistance and efficient check-in/check-out. Valet parking is available for a daily fee (approximately $72 for overnight, with in/out privileges), which, while expensive, is a convenience in a dense city area. The hotel offers 24-hour in-room dining, providing a wide selection from the OAK Long Bar + Kitchen menu, ensuring guests can enjoy gourmet meals at any hour. However, some recent feedback indicates that the room service menu might "not have put great thought into" meeting specific dietary needs, leading some guests to order delivery, which then incurs an additional charge to be brought to the room. The hotel provides a complimentary 3,000-square-foot rooftop fitness center, open 24 hours a day, equipped with state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment and offering scenic views of downtown Boston and Back Bay. Guests can also utilize the "Fairmont Fit" program, which provides Reebok workout apparel and footwear delivered directly to their room. Other services include concierge assistance, business services (24-hour business center with complimentary high-speed internet and printing), laundry/dry cleaning, and luggage storage. The hotel is notably pet-friendly, welcoming dogs of all sizes for a fee, and even has a beloved canine ambassador, Cori, a resident Labrador, who delights guests. Fairmont Gold guests receive elevated services, including access to a private lounge with dedicated concierge staff, complimentary breakfast, and evening hors d'oeuvres. The hotel also strives to meet the needs of guests with disabilities, offering accessible rooms and facilities.
The features at Fairmont Copley Plaza are designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable stay. The hotel boasts 383 individually decorated guest rooms and suites, ranging in size and offering city or interior courtyard views. Rooms feature premium bedding, pillow-top beds, in-room safes, mini-bars, and flat-screen TVs with digital and pay-per-view channels. Private bathrooms are well-appointed with combined shower/bathtubs, designer toiletries, hair dryers, and bathrobes. Many rooms include a desk and a comfortable sitting area, and some suites offer separate living/work areas for added space and productivity. Connectivity is provided through Wi-Fi, which is complimentary for Fairmont Gold guests and available for a daily Urban Experience Fee (currently $35 USD) for other guests, which also includes a food & beverage credit and an in-room movie. Dining is a highlight with OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, an award-winning American brasserie offering a farm-to-table menu, specialty craft cocktails, and an opulent breakfast. The bar is known for its exquisite coppertop and has been voted "#1 Hotel Bar." The hotel also offers extensive meeting and event facilities, including a stunning Grand Ballroom capable of hosting large gatherings, making it a popular choice for weddings and corporate events. The presence of elevators, family rooms, and cribs caters to diverse travel needs.
From a promotional standpoint, Fairmont Copley Plaza leverages its status as a "historic landmark" and its "superb location" as primary selling points within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. It highlights its position directly on Copley Square, offering immediate access to the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, and the upscale shopping and dining of Newbury Street and Copley Place Mall. May 10, 2025 · Mark VogelGreat hotel and I love the ambience. They did a great job preparing the room based on my requests. I was very appreciative!!! The room was older but had so much charm. I was disappointed in the room service menu. When I travel I need access to clean/fresh food that meets some basic dietary needsd...and while they are certainly trying, it is clear that have not put great thought into this menu. I had to order for delivery to get what I needed and charged $5 to bring to my room. My preference is always room service so felt a bit cheated on this but I certainly understand the idea behind this. I was surprised at check out to see a charge for $100.00 for an upgrade that I did not approve. At check in they simple said we have upgraded you and I thought it was the customary upgrade I often receive. I needed to get to the airport so I did not say anything. Overall it is beautiful hotel in a great location with some little snafus here and there I would stay again.

Mar 04, 2025 · Alexander DelacruzFrom the moment I arrived with all my luggage to the moment I left - everything was great with my 3 nights stay at the hotel. The service and care I received from the Fairmont Copley Plaza was high end - as expected. The hotel is not a modern building as it was built over 100 years ago, but it's a beautiful and classic setting with modern/upgraded facilities. The rooms are clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The hotel lobby is elegant and has amazing ceiling fresco art with beautiful adornments. Overall, it was an excellent stay. Location is excellent - in the heart of Boston's back bay.
Mar 12, 2025 · JavedWe had such an amazing time that I didn’t want to leave. We travelled to Boston for work and brought our 1.5yo with us. From check-in all the way to the day we left, we felt so looked after and so welcomed. Joe & Joe, John, Michael, and of course the cutest resident dog, Cori, made this trip so memorable that we honestly felt sad having to leave the hotel. I cannot recommend this place enough. Everyone in the Gold Lounge reception and the reception downstairs (and I really mean, EVERYONE) is so amazing and warm and friendly. It’s also the most convenient location and a stone’s throw away from the train station.
