Stay far, far away. Worst "hotel" experience. Ever! Room was disgusting. Heat was overwhelming. No thermostat. Tried opening a window: no screen! Toilet would not flush even water. Standing urine! Note said: "Please do not dispose of toilet paper in the toilet, as it can lead to clogs. Kindly use the provided trash bin for this purpose." It was revolting. We had to use public restrooms. Expect to sleep here? Think again. Walls are so thin we heard everything: TVs, conversations from upstairs, side occupants, and below, doors slamming. Try getting someone on the phone? Good luck! Dishes were filthy! Molding and baseboards were rotted. The room we received was NOT like any of the photos. Felt like we were living in a hostel. Hidden fees after booking. Plus a $200 security deposit! We received only one text: "After check-in, I will contact you to ensure you have everything you need. I will also send check-out details on the day of departure." Never happened. Number for the hotel is outsourced. Attached photos don't lie. This place ought to be ashamed of itself.
For those navigating the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category in Boston, Massachusetts, and considering a stay, Good Hotels Boston, located at 145 Dartmouth St, Boston, MA 02116, USA, presents itself as an option. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the establishment, drawing from available information and customer feedback to help potential guests make an informed decision.
Good Hotels Boston is situated at 145 Dartmouth St in Boston, MA. This address places it in a central and generally well-regarded area of Boston, offering potential proximity to various city attractions, dining, and public transportation. The neighborhood itself is known for its urban character. The exact visual and immediate surroundings of the hotel would typically reflect a city environment.
Good Hotels Boston operates primarily as a self-check-in property, aiming to provide a hassle-free and convenient experience for its guests. The hotel states that it offers studio-type rooms with en-suite bathrooms, positioned as an affordable vacation rental company that is potentially cheaper compared to other accommodations in Downtown Boston. A key feature is the virtual front desk, which is advertised as being available 24/7 to assist guests despite the self-check-in model. This suggests a commitment to support even without a traditional physical front desk presence. For security and peace of mind, an online deposit and identity verification process (via securestay) is in place, allowing guests to complete these steps prior to arrival. Guests are advised to inform the property in advance if they have visitors not included in their original booking, as a charge of $150 per person may apply for undeclared guests. The hotel also specifies a damage deposit of $200, collected by credit card upon arrival and reimbursed within 7 days of check-out, subject to inspection. Smoking is not allowed on the premises, and quiet hours are observed between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Pets are allowed, though charges may apply. Payment options include American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.
Customer reviews provide significant insight into the actual experience at Good Hotels Boston. It is important to note that feedback varies widely. Some guests have found the location to be good and safe, appreciating the proximity to local points of interest. Specific positive mentions include comfortable beds and pillows. Last-minute booking discounts have also been noted by some users.
However, a considerable number of reviews highlight substantial concerns regarding the environment, services, and overall features. Regarding cleanliness, multiple guests have described rooms as "disgusting," with specific complaints about standing urine, dirty dishes, and rotted molding and baseboards. One particularly alarming detail shared is a note instructing guests not to dispose of toilet paper in the toilet due to clog issues, advising use of a trash bin instead, which was found to be "revolting" by a reviewer. This suggests potential issues with plumbing and hygiene standards.
The hotel's environment has been criticized for being overwhelming in terms of heat with no thermostat, and windows lacking screens. Noise is a recurring complaint, with walls described as "so thin" that guests could hear "everything: TVs, conversations from upstairs, side occupants, and below, doors slamming," impacting sleep quality. Accessibility also appears to be a challenge, with stairs described as a "nightmare when moving luggage and no one to help."
In terms of services, communication has been a point of frustration. Guests reported difficulty reaching someone by phone, with the hotel's number being outsourced. Promises of follow-up texts after check-in for support or check-out details were reportedly not fulfilled. Issues with Wi-Fi connectivity were also raised, with staff reportedly dismissing concerns. Furthermore, unexpected charges have been a significant point of contention. One guest reported being charged $4 for using a slipper, with the price allegedly written on the fridge, indicating a lack of clear upfront communication about such fees. Hidden fees after booking and the $200 security deposit have also been mentioned as points of concern for some guests.
Photos attached to reviews reportedly show discrepancies between the actual rooms and promotional images, leading some guests to feel they were "living in a hostel" rather than a hotel. The outdoor lock experiencing issues in snowy weather, requiring multiple attempts to open, also points to maintenance concerns.
Good Hotels Boston promotes itself on the 'Hotels Near Of Me' platform as an affordable, self-check-in option with studio rooms and 24/7 virtual support. While it aims to offer convenience and a budget-friendly stay in a good Boston location, the extensive customer feedback indicates a considerable gap between the advertised experience and guest reality. Potential guests should carefully weigh the reported issues regarding cleanliness, noise, lack of in-person assistance, and potential hidden fees against the promise of a convenient and affordable stay. The objective reality presented by past guests suggests that while the location may be desirable, the quality of the accommodations and services might not consistently meet standard expectations for hotel stays, leading to a less-than-ideal experience for many.

Jan 02, 2025 · Aaron Robinsonlast minute booking, average, they had a discount Good location, safe, good bed and pillows Wasn’t that clean Stairs were nightmare when moving luggage and no one to help I can hear everything … everything Poor wifi, informed them, they said it’s fine? I was using my data most of the time Be very careful of what you use from their stuff. I used a slipper, was charged 4$ after check out. Apparently the price was written on the fridge! The outdoor lock doesn’t work well when it snows, I had to try> x5 times and push hard
Jan 19, 2025 · Hind RMBooked a standard room to start and then realised that then had “deluxe” rooms available, so decided to upgrade my booking to make sure I had the best stay possible, when I got in the room I joked that if this room is a deluxe I dread to think how small the standard was (you can’t even walk round both sides of the bed), in the morning I saw housekeeping as asked if it was a deluxe room as it’s pretty small and she told me that all the rooms ending in 02 are the smallest rooms in the hotel, so then when I raised this as an issue with the customer help team I got told “ It truly is a gorgeous space, and we believe it offers a wonderful experience. Of course, luxury can be seen differently depending on personal preferences” but no actual answer why I had one of the smallest rooms, so called and got told that the difference between deluxe and standard isn’t the size it’s what comes in it, for all I can see is the deluxe you get a microwave and standard you don’t, honestly absolutely not worth the extra money. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY WORDS LIKE DELUXE this is far from deluxe, they charge you extra if you want housekeeping, clean towels, linens etc, it’s a tiny room with no customer service and they have thought of every way to try and squeeze every penny out of you, totally not worth staying here.
Mar 13, 2025 · Samuel MayUnfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel, they took my safety deposit without any appropriate reason. The room was tiny and the walls are not soundproofed at all. For the price, it is not worth it. And watch out for your $200 safety deposit.
Jan 08, 2025 · Matej VlcekI had an excellent experience at this hotel and am thoroughly satisfied with everything from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. The room was clean. Amenities offered were amazing, and the location was convenient. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and made me feel right at home. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit and would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a pleasant and hassle-free accommodation experience. A truly great find and worth every penny!
