My husband and I recently visited the Paw House Inn with our dog Jasper as a special trip for his 5th birthday. We travel everywhere with Jasper, but it was clear as soon as we arrived at Paw House that this was different, here they completely cater to dogs! When we arrive we were greeted by Emily who gave us a tour of the property and showed us our room. There's an off leash dog park where Jasper had a great time running around and making friends. There is also a play house where you can safely leave your dogs if you plan on doing some non dog friendly activities. We stayed in Spot because it had an enclosed porch with a swing and it was amazing! Jasper loves being outside so it was nice to have to area for him to be outside safely. It was perfect that it was enclosed because we got quite a bit of rain while we were there. Breakfast is served every morning and it was amazing! You get a fruit cup and a fresh baked muffin and then a choice of an omelet or a waffle. I had the waffles each morning while my husband had the omelet and everything was delicious! Jasper enjoyed spending time with us and seeing his dog friends at breakfast as well. The grounds of the inn are wonderful as well. We spent lots of time walking around and exploring. This was our first trip to Vermont and we absolutely fell in love!! We will definitely be back to Vermont and to the Paw House Inn!
For discerning travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the beautiful Vermont landscape, particularly those whose travel companions have four paws, The Paw House Inn & Dog Friendly Cottages presents itself as an unparalleled destination. Located at 1376 Clarendon Ave, West Rutland, VT 05777, USA, this unique establishment stands out as a haven specifically designed to cater to dogs and their human companions, offering an experience far beyond typical pet-friendly accommodations.
The environment at The Paw House Inn is meticulously crafted to be a true dog paradise. Housed in an old farmhouse, the inn embraces a charming, rustic feel that resonates with the New England aesthetic, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for both humans and canines. What truly sets the environment apart is the explicit dedication to dogs. Guests are immediately struck by how different it is from other pet-friendly places; here, dogs are not just tolerated, but "completely cater to." The property boasts an impressive array of dog-centric features, including a very large, fenced-in outdoor play area or "off-leash dog park." This expansive space allows dogs to "run around and mak friends" safely, offering ample opportunities for exercise and socialization. Beyond the outdoor space, there's also a "play house" where dogs can be safely left if owners wish to engage in non-dog-friendly activities in the area, providing peace of mind. The grounds of the inn are described as "wonderful," with plenty of space for walking and exploring, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the scenic Vermont surroundings. Even the specific rooms, like "Spot," are designed with dog comfort in mind, featuring amenities such as an "enclosed porch with a swing" that provides a safe outdoor space for dogs, even during inclement weather. The overall ambiance is peaceful and allows guests to relax and enjoy quality time with their pets in a beautiful natural setting.
The services offered at The Paw House Inn are tailored to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for both dogs and their owners. Upon arrival, guests are often greeted by welcoming staff, such as Emily, who provide a comprehensive tour of the property and guide them to their rooms. The inn prides itself on making dogs "happy and being able to spend time together." One of the standout services is the gourmet breakfast served every morning. Guests consistently praise the "amazing" and "delicious" breakfast, which typically includes a fruit cup, a fresh-baked muffin, and a choice of an omelet or a waffle, often prepared by a cheerful Emily. This communal breakfast experience also allows dogs to socialize with their canine friends. While guests are "on their own for many things," they are "very well supported" by the staff, indicating a balance between independence and helpful assistance. A significant service for dog owners is the availability of the on-site kennel or "play house," where dogs can be left securely for a few hours if owners need to go into town for activities where dogs are not permitted. The knowledge that their dog will be "looked in on and let out to run and play" provides immense comfort. The staff, including Brie, are noted for being "very welcoming and explain quite well how the inn operates," ensuring guests understand the unique setup and offerings of the inn. This level of personalized care and understanding of dog owners' needs is a defining characteristic of their service philosophy.
The features of The Paw House Inn & Dog Friendly Cottages go beyond standard hotel amenities to create a truly dog-centric stay. The large, fenced-in outdoor play area is a primary feature, providing a secure and expansive space for dogs to exercise off-leash. The "play house" serves as a supervised indoor kennel, offering a safe and comfortable environment for dogs when their owners are out. Individual rooms, such as the "Spot" room, feature enclosed porches, allowing dogs to enjoy outdoor fresh air safely and comfortably, even during rain. The rooms themselves are designed with the feel of an "old farm house," offering a clean and comfortable experience, even if they are not overtly modern or luxurious. This rustic charm contributes to the overall character of the inn. While specific technological features like flat-screen TVs or high-speed internet aren't the primary focus of guest reviews, the emphasis is clearly on the dog-friendly amenities and the comfort of the space for both humans and their pets. The general comfort and cleanliness of the accommodations are consistently highlighted. The entire property is geared towards making a dog's stay as enjoyable as their human's, setting it apart from typical pet-friendly establishments that merely tolerate pets rather than actively catering to them.
From a promotional perspective, The Paw House Inn & Dog Friendly Cottages effectively markets itself as the ultimate destination for dog owners visiting Vermont. Its unique selling proposition is its unparalleled dedication to canine guests, making it a prime choice for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with their furry companions. The inn positions itself as a place where you can truly "spend time together in a beautiful area of New England." While the reviews highlight that guests sometimes wish for more fellow dog owners to be present for their dogs to play with, this is not a fault of the inn but rather a function of booking patterns. The inn's marketing clearly targets individuals who consider their dogs an integral part of their travel experience, offering a specialized environment where dogs can be themselves. It implicitly promotes Vermont as an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts and their dogs, given the proximity to natural beauty and potential activities like hiking. The positive guest experiences, emphasizing the delicious breakfasts, welcoming staff, and exceptional dog facilities, serve as powerful testimonials. The inn's appeal lies in its niche market, providing a comfortable, clean, and truly dog-friendly base for exploring the Vermont landscape and creating lasting memories with a beloved pet. For anyone looking for a place where their dog is not just allowed but genuinely welcomed and catered to, The Paw House Inn stands out as a premier choice.

May 17, 2025 · Amy CoughlinWe had a wonderful stay on an early December weekend and love how the Paw House is all about making your dog (and their owners) happy and being able to spend time together in a beautiful area of New England. The only unfortunate part was that we were the only guests there for our weekend there - it would have been more fun for us and our dog to have other guests to play with and talk to. Not the Paw House's fault at all - it was just the weekend we picked! The staff we dealt with (Emily & Brie) were very welcoming and explained quite well how the inn operates. You are on your own for many things but very well supported. Our dog loves the snow and she so enjoyed the very large fenced in outdoor play area. We took advantage of that a lot during our stay - and we did use the kennel for a few hours to go have a meal in town - knowing that our dog was looked in on and let out to run and play was a very nice benefit. The inn was an old farm house and the rooms have that feel - if you are looking for modern or luxurious accommodations this inn is not for you - but we were not expecting that and our room (Spot) was clean and comfortable and met our needs. Breakfast (prepared by a very cheerful Emily) was very good and we regretfully had to cut our stay short to return home due to a family medical emergency and missed out on a couple more breakfasts and spending more quality time at the Paw House. We definitely plan to return in the future - next time perhaps with more of our family and/or friends who enjoy their dog as much as we do!
Dec 15, 2024 · Doug ReynoldsHad a great time staying at the Inn for a weekend. My pups loved it. Emily, the manager, is amazing and prepares the most delicious waffles for breakfast, each morning. We will certainly be returning for a stay
May 19, 2025 · StephenJ WI couldn't resist an Inn that catered to dogs, even if it was a six hour drive away. I was delighted with the accommodations and the dog theme carried throughout this beautiful inn built in the 1700's. The room was very comfortable and well appointed for me and my dog. The owners and staff are lovely, welcoming people. The other guests, like dog lovers everywhere, are happy to talk about dogs and you can do this over an excellent breakfast in the dog friendly dining room. I almost withheld my 5 star review because selfishly I'd like to keep this gem to myself. Lynn Smith
Dec 28, 2024 · Lynn SmithWe absolutely loved our stay at the Paw House Inn! They took excellent care of our puppy while we were out skiing, and the photos and updates throughout the day gave us so much peace of mind. Breakfast was another highlight—the homemade muffins and house omelet were the perfect way to start the day. We can't wait to stay here again!
