We were supposed to stay 1/24-1/25/25. When we booked there was no mention of construction. the picture shows a waffle bar breakfast. Instead it was two beat up tables with maybe some fruit, coffee and breakfast bars. We did not stay long enough to find out. When we made it to the room we found hair all over the bathroom. Through the night the not renovated heat sounded like a old beat up rusty fan each time it cycled. In the morning there were ants crawling all over the bathroom floor. We did not bring food into the bathroom. We checked in around 8:30pm Friday and out by 7am Saturday. We were able to get a refund for Saturday but no one has returned our call to give some money back for Friday night. All those problems we expect at a hotel under a $100 but we were charged $230 a night. The hotel is also 30 minutes to Killington which we knew but were looking forward to the pool and breakfast. The pool we didn't even bother to go look at. Also, the hotel itself wasn't very clean there was garbage around as you can see from the view out our window. I say one or two of these items were an accident but too many issues added up.

Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area Introduce

For local users exploring options within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in the Rutland/Killington Area of Vermont, the Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area, located at 401 US-7 South, Rutland, VT 05701, USA, is a property that warrants a careful and objective assessment based on recent customer experiences. While affiliated with a well-known brand, current guest reviews indicate a disparity between expectations and reality, particularly concerning the advertised amenities and overall cleanliness. Guests have reported a range of issues, from cleanliness concerns in the bathrooms, including "hair all over the bathroom" and "ants crawling all over the bathroom floor," to loud and "not renovated heat" units. There are also significant concerns regarding the breakfast offerings, which were described as "lacking" and a far cry from the "waffle bar breakfast" pictured in promotional materials, instead consisting of "maybe some fruit, coffee and breakfast bars."

Operating within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area would typically appeal to travelers seeking convenient and reasonably priced accommodation. However, the consistent feedback regarding multiple issues suggests that prospective guests should manage their expectations regarding the current state of the property and its services. The complaints about poor value for money, with guests feeling "worth about half of what I paid" for rooms charged at rates between $129 and $230, highlight a significant area of concern for those relying on the platform to find suitable lodging nearby. The presence of ongoing "construction" and general "garbage around as you can see from the view out our window" further impacts the overall guest experience, indicating that the property may be undergoing changes that affect current comfort and aesthetic standards.

Environment: Undergoing Changes with Accessibility Challenges

The environment at Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area, as described by recent guests, appears to be in a state of flux or has specific challenges. The mention of "construction" suggests ongoing renovations or improvements, which can inevitably lead to noise, dust, and disruptions that impact the guest experience. The exterior environment, with "garbage around as you can see from the view out our window," indicates a lack of immediate upkeep in some areas, potentially detracting from the overall visual appeal upon arrival. While the address places it on US-7 South, a main thoroughfare, one review specifically noted that the "driveway is hard to get in & out of," posing a practical inconvenience for travelers arriving by car.

Despite being marketed as "Rutland/Killington Area," it's important for guests to note that the hotel is "30 minutes to Killington," which, while known to some, is a factor for those prioritizing proximity to the ski resort. The immediate surroundings on US-7 South would likely be commercial, typical of a roadside hotel, rather than offering scenic views or extensive recreational areas directly on the property. The overall impression of the environment from guest reviews points towards a functional, yet currently somewhat unkempt or disruptive, setting that may not fully align with expectations based on a hotel's standard promotional imagery.

Services: Falling Short of Expectations

The services at Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area, according to recent reviews, appear to be significantly underperforming relative to standard expectations for a branded hotel. The most frequent and critical complaints revolve around cleanliness. Guests reported "hair all over the bathroom" and "ants crawling all over the bathroom floor," indicating a serious lapse in basic hygiene. This directly contradicts the fundamental expectation of a clean room, which is a non-negotiable service for any accommodation.

The breakfast service also received strong negative feedback. While a "waffle bar breakfast" was implicitly promised (likely through older images or brand standards), guests found a "lacking" offering of "2 small yogurt cups, a few bagels and coffee & juice," with most items "already gone or picked up, and not replenished @ 9:30 a.m." The mention of a "waffle maker set up but no batter or syrup" further highlights a disconnect between advertised amenities and actual provision. Front desk staff were described as "not very friendly, Tho competent," indicating efficiency but a lack of warmth in customer interaction. While one guest was able to secure a refund for an unused night, follow-up on the initial night's refund proved difficult, suggesting challenges in resolving guest complaints effectively. Overall, the reported services fall considerably short of delivering a comfortable and satisfying stay.

Features: Deteriorating Comfort and Unfulfilled Promises

The features of Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area, as experienced by recent guests, present a concerning picture of comfort and functionality. The primary features of the rooms themselves are highlighted as problematic. The "not renovated heat sounded like a old beat up rusty fan each time it cycled," leading to disturbed sleep. Additionally, the "bed base made a loud thunk every time we rolled over, waking us repeatedly all night," further impacting rest. These issues point to a lack of proper maintenance and renovation in key comfort-providing features.

Soundproofing also appears to be a significant issue, with guests noting they "could hear the outside hall door open & close loudly also." While a pool is advertised as a feature (and something guests were "looking forward to"), one guest "didn't even bother to go look at" it, implying a general lack of confidence in the property's upkeep. The discrepancy in the breakfast offering, where a waffle maker was present but not functional or stocked, indicates that advertised features are not consistently delivered. The overall impression from these reviews is that the existing features are either outdated, poorly maintained, or not fully operational, leading to a diminished guest experience compared to expectations for a hotel in its price range.

Promotional Information: Managing Expectations and Seeking Value

Given the strongly negative customer reviews, any objective promotional information for Days Inn by Wyndham Rutland/Killington Area must address the significant concerns raised by recent guests. Directly quoting phrases like "All those problems we expect at a hotel under a $100 but we were charged $230 a night" or "It's a $50 a night room that I got charged $129 for!" would be detrimental. Instead, promotional efforts should focus on potential future improvements while acknowledging current challenges, if applicable. However, based strictly on the provided information, the current reality painted by guests is one of disappointment.

For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me," the crucial promotional message would need to be extremely cautious. Without positive counterpoints from recent guests, any marketing would rely heavily on brand recognition and the promise of future upgrades.

  • If ongoing "construction" is indeed a renovation, future promotions could highlight "upcoming renovations" to improve guest experience, setting expectations for better quality once completed.
  • The distance to Killington (30 minutes) should be consistently communicated to manage expectations for ski travelers.
  • Any promotional materials would need to be updated to accurately reflect the current breakfast offerings and pool status, rather than showing outdated images or promises.
  • Transparent communication regarding the current condition and any known issues would be essential to rebuild trust, although this is difficult to do in general marketing.

For guests actively looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering this Days Inn, it is crucial to temper expectations. The strong negative feedback about cleanliness, noise, dilapidated features, and the perceived poor value for money at current rates suggests that potential guests should carefully weigh the price against the reported experience before booking. It's evident that, at the time of these reviews, the hotel was not delivering on basic hospitality standards commensurate with its pricing.

The room wasn't very clean. The driveway is hard to get in & out of. The The front desk staff wasn't very friendly, Tho competent. The bed base made a loud thunk every time we rolled over, waking us repeatedly all night. Of course I could hear the outside hall door open & close loudly also. The breakfast was lacking, 2 small yogurt cups, a few bagels and coffee & juice. Everything else was already gone or picked up, and not replenished @ 9:30 a.m. There was a waffle maker set up but no batter or syrup. Overall it was worth about half of what I paid! It's a $50 a night room that I got charged $129 for!

The place was not as bad as some reviews have said. We stayed here for a week for skiing and found our stay to be quite pleasant given the price of the place. The renovated room was decent for this price range. The only issue is the breakfast was not as good but I really didn’t expect much from a place as such. For fellow skiers who own a car, I’d recommend you to stay here for your travel to the Beast.

This is a little gem of a hotel. The staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious and spotless. Location is convenient right off the main road. One of our room keys was not working but it didn’t interfere with our stay and we didn’t bother to go ask for a replacement.
