I don't write reviews often, so take this as Biblical. We made a last minute trip and went directly to the Killington website to find a room. I presume that Killington properties right near the mountain would all be solid. Not so. Let's hit the pros first. The location is great. It's a 2 minute drive from the mountain. The pool is warm. It's very nice. There is a solid hot tub right next to the pool, and that is good. It was quiet overall, and there was nothing that made me want to leave in the middle of the night, like roaches, or crime, or racoons crawling in through the windows. There is a little bar in the hotel, which we did not use, but it looked good enough and like it served alcohol. OK, now the cons, so you know what to expect. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was a 20 year old spring mattress. And I'm not that sensitive to stuff, but the place is very outdated. You can see cracks in the sheetrock in the rooms, and the building as a whole needs a complete renovation / remodel. Clearly, it's an absolute cash-cow for the owners, who are not putting much into it. I can be fine with that, so long as the bed is comfortable, but it was not. The soap they provide is measly, and the hot water in the shower is very hard to control. I have no input on the staff, they were fine. I am sure they have a hard job working in a hotel that is basically from the 80's and probably surprises a lot of folks. To be honest, I would not stay there again unless I had to. It was uninspiring at best (except the pool of course), and kinda bad at worst. Have no high expectations except for location and the pool being warm.

Cascades Lodge offers a straightforward and unpretentious environment, prioritizing location and key amenities that appeal to active travelers. The overall ambiance is that of a classic ski lodge, providing a no-frills yet functional stay. While some guests describe the decor as dated, with elements reminiscent of the 1980s, the focus remains on providing a comfortable and convenient experience rather than a luxurious one. The property aims to be a practical choice for those who spend most of their time outdoors and need a reliable place to rest and recharge. You won't find ultra-modern finishes or high-end designer touches here, but rather a consistent and familiar setting.
One of the standout features and primary draws of Cascades Lodge is its excellent location. It is a mere two-minute drive from Killington Mountain, making it incredibly convenient for skiers and snowboarders. For even greater ease, the lodge provides a free shuttle service to the Snowshed base lodge, running frequently from Thanksgiving to April. This eliminates the hassle of parking and ensures quick access to the slopes. Beyond skiing, the proximity to the Access Road also means easy access to local restaurants and shops, adding to the convenience for guests. The lodge's setting also allows for other recreational activities nearby, such as hiking, biking, and golf, making it suitable for year-round visits.
When it comes to services and amenities, Cascades Lodge focuses on what matters most to its target audience. A highly praised feature is the indoor pool, which is consistently noted by guests for being warm and inviting. Adjacent to the pool, there is a solid hot tub, providing a perfect way to relax and soothe tired muscles after a day on the slopes or trails. A sauna is also available for guests seeking further relaxation and detoxification. For those who enjoy some friendly competition, there is a game room with billiards. The lodge also features a small bar, the Wooden Nickel Lounge, which is typically open Friday through Sunday nights during the ski season, offering a convenient spot for a drink and socializing without leaving the property. While some reviews mention a "light continental breakfast" consisting of granola bars and bottled juice, other sources indicate a hot buffet breakfast, so it’s advisable to confirm breakfast offerings directly with the hotel upon booking. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge, and free parking is also provided for guests, adding to the value and convenience.
Guest rooms at Cascades Lodge are equipped with essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Each room typically includes a private bathroom, satellite/cable TV, a refrigerator, and a coffee maker. Most rooms also offer a balcony or patio, providing a pleasant space to unwind, with some offering views towards the mountains or the fountain. While the furnishings and mattresses in some rooms have been described by past guests as outdated or uncomfortable, reflecting the lodge's older charm, the rooms are generally reported to be clean and functional. The staff at Cascades Lodge are often described as friendly and helpful, striving to ensure a smooth experience for all visitors.
Promotional information for Cascades Lodge often highlights its excellent value, especially given its proximity to Killington Mountain. They frequently offer packages, particularly during the winter season. For instance, you might find promotions like "Buy 2 Nights, get third night free" for a 3-night midweek stay (non-holiday), or similar deals for longer stays, such as "Buy 3 Nights, get Fourth Free" for a 4-night midweek stay, or 20% off for a 5-night midweek stay arriving on Sunday night. These promotions make Cascades Lodge an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers looking to maximize their time on the slopes. Given that it caters to the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, these deals further enhance its appeal to individuals and families searching for readily available and cost-effective lodging close to their desired activities.
It's important for potential guests to set realistic expectations. While the location and amenities like the warm pool and hot tub are significant advantages, the lodge is not a modern luxury resort. Travelers seeking a contemporary aesthetic or plush accommodations may find it dated. However, for those who prioritize location, a good value, and fundamental amenities for an active vacation, Cascades Lodge presents a viable and popular choice in the Killington area. It remains a consistent option for many who return year after year for its no-nonsense approach to mountain lodging.

Mar 03, 2025 · Kevin McGoffThe Cascades lodge is a quaint, cute, cozy and comfortable lodge in killington, right near the skiing and the tubing and dining and the deli, everything ... It was a perfect getaway spot that was quite convenient, accommodating and warm. It has a certain rustic charm. The host is a gem. Just to be in her presence is a blessing. There's a pool. Good vibes only.

Dec 31, 2024 · YasmineProbably one of the worst stays we've ever had. The only reason we stayed in here was location and lack of hotel room availability in the area. On the webpage it's advertised there's breakfast included, but all they offered was coffee machine, granola bars and juices in the room. Water from the faucet was brown and disgusting, couldn't even brush teeth.
