My room was absolutely gorgeous! It’s a mix of boho and modern with every needed amenity! Love the fragrances of body soap, shampoo and conditioner. Makeup mirror in the bathroom with the evening/day switch was a nice touch! I will definitely stay here again!

The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center Introduce

For individuals and organizations seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in the State College, Pennsylvania area, The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center is a prominent establishment, particularly for those attending events at Penn State University or conducting business in Innovation Park. Located at 215 Innovation Blvd, State College, PA 16803, USA, this hotel and conference center can be reached at (814) 863-5000 or via mobile at +1 814-863-5000.

The environment of The Penn Stater is designed to accommodate both leisure travelers and, more significantly, large-scale conferences and events. Its location within Innovation Park, a research and development community affiliated with Penn State University, positions it strategically for academic and corporate visitors. This setting typically offers a more suburban or campus-like atmosphere, potentially quieter than a downtown hotel. However, the experience of the internal environment can be varied, as reflected in customer reviews. While some guests have found their rooms "absolutely gorgeous," describing them as a "mix of boho and modern," others have encountered rooms with unpleasant odors, such as "college fraternity sweat and feet," and visible issues like "stained carpets" and questionable furniture. This disparity suggests that while renovations may be ongoing and yielding positive results in some areas, the overall consistency of room quality across the property might vary. The presence of painters and "paint drops literally raining from the ceiling" in conference halls indicates that significant maintenance or renovation work was actively taking place, which can disrupt the aesthetics and comfort of public spaces. Despite this, the presence of two restaurants within the hotel suggests a convenient and accessible dining environment.

The services offered at The Penn Stater are comprehensive, as expected from a hotel with a dedicated conference center. This includes a front desk, which, according to one account, can be inconsistent in its approach, with one guest experiencing a "rude" and abrupt interaction over the phone. Such instances highlight that while the infrastructure for service is present, the quality of interaction can vary. The hotel provides services related to its conference facilities, including catering for events. However, there have been complaints about the execution of these services, such as food being packed away "30 minutes early" during a social event, which can be frustrating for attendees. For individual guests, amenities like body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided, with one guest specifically loving the fragrances. A makeup mirror with evening/day switch is also a noted convenience. While coffee is available, issues like staff blocking access during refills "between sessions before it was even necessary" point to potential inefficiencies or a lack of guest-centric timing in service delivery during busy periods. Room service is generally expected in such establishments, though not specifically detailed in the provided reviews. The presence of two restaurants within the hotel offers dining services, and while the food is generally praised as "good," it is noted to be "a bit pricey." The bar closing at an "early 10 pm" might be a limiting factor for guests looking for late-night socializing. The ongoing presence of painters in public areas suggests that while the hotel is investing in improvements, the immediate impact on guest experience during the renovation phase can be disruptive.

The features of The Penn Stater's rooms are a mixed bag, based on current feedback. Positively, renovated rooms are described as "gorgeous," featuring a contemporary design aesthetic and thoughtful touches like the aforementioned specialized makeup mirror. These rooms offer the "every needed amenity" for a comfortable stay. However, other rooms have been described as having uncomfortable beds, metallic sounds at night, and unclean carpets and couches, indicating that the renovation efforts may not be uniformly applied or completed across all units. As a conference center, the hotel is equipped with extensive meeting and event spaces, designed to host a variety of gatherings. The presence of two restaurants and a bar/lounge provides diverse dining and social options for guests. The hotel also likely features a fitness center and possibly an indoor pool, typical amenities for a property of this size and scope, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. The physical infrastructure for hosting large groups is a core feature, making it a go-to venue for university-related conferences and events. Parking facilities are also typically robust given its location, though not explicitly detailed in the current reviews.

Promotional information for The Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center would primarily target two key segments: leisure travelers visiting Penn State and organizations planning conferences or events. For individual travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," promotions would likely highlight its proximity to the university, the comfort of its newly renovated rooms, and its on-site dining options. The "boho and modern" aesthetic and premium bathroom amenities would be showcased to attract guests seeking a more stylish stay. For conference planners, promotions would emphasize the extensive meeting facilities, professional event services, and the convenience of having accommodation and conference spaces under one roof. Special packages for university events (e.g., graduation, football weekends) are also common promotional tools, though pricing during these peak times can be significantly higher. However, the critical negative reviews regarding service quality, room cleanliness (in unrenovated areas), and disruption from ongoing renovations present a challenge for promotional efforts. The hotel's management would need to address these issues to ensure that the guest experience consistently aligns with the promises made in promotional materials. While the positive review speaks to the potential and vision for the hotel, the negative feedback indicates that this vision is not yet consistently realized across all guest experiences. Any promotional message would need to carefully balance the appealing renovated aspects with the potential for encountering areas still under improvement or experiencing service inconsistencies during high-demand periods.

Ok so about my bad experience here. It started with me talking to a receptionist on the phone who was rude and abruptly hung up on me after asking one question. When I got to my room, the first thing I was greeted with was the smell of college fraternity sweat and feet. The carpets were stained, and I'll let you be the judge of the couch (see the picture). I did not feel comfortable walking in my socks even. The room kept making these metallic sounds at night. The bed was uncomfortable. The next morning, as I headed to my conference, I was looking for water when some lady came out of nowhere yelling at me because I was too close to the snacks and apparently we didn't get the "snack package" for that morning. I said I was just looking for water, and she told me rudely it was in the conference rooms. When I did get a chance to finally get coffee, two workers blocked the coffee because they were refilling it, which I can understand, but they kept doing it right between sessions before it was even necessary. Throughout the conference halls, there were painters everywhere. Paint drops were literally raining from the ceiling. I could see one of the workers desperately cleaning up paint from the floor. The only good thing about this place was the food from the two restaurants. A bit pricey, but it's what you'd expect. The bar closes at an early 10pm. During one of the social events, they were packing away the food 30 minutes early. This might all sound overly complaining, but it just felt like so many things went wrong. I paid way too much for staying here. It seems others have commented that they are doing renovations. Hopefully it's more than just a fresh coat of paint (an attitude change would be a great start). I don't recommend staying or planning your conference here.

We booked a room with a precise goal to rest after a long drive. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any rest because there is a renovation going on in the hotel and someone was loudly hammering on the floor directly above us. I needed to call the front desk from my cell (the phone in the room was not working). The front desk staff apologized, but said the only clean available rooms they have are also in the proximity of the renovation and I should just wait until 6PM when they finish. Nobody informed us about the renovation before we arrived. I do not recommend staying here (unless you don’t plan on using your room during the day). Edit (update after the night): the alarm clock in the room woke us up at 6:11AM. We didn’t set it up it, so I guess it was used by the previous guests and the hotel staff didn’t bother to check or reset it before they gave us the room keys.

It was a decent experience the business Halls were a lot more up-to-date and nicer, the staff were very friendly and courteous. The rooms however were absolutely outdated I felt like it was a blast from the past seen back into the 80s the room was not very appealing and there was evident work of years of room reparations such as caulk and silicone and worn out carpets as well as the couch. It wasn't even good enough to sit on it was completely worn out I know that they said that they were renovating but I would really wait to rent out rooms with them looking this terrible LOL but overall it was a great experience

As others have mentioned, the customer service is nice. Christian did his very best to assist me while I was flustered during my visit. I also appreciate the manager or lead who assisted me on Friday, I believe his name is Quinton but I can not be certain! Unfortunately, when I booked my reservation I requested 2 full beds. When I checked in, the woman who assisted me checked me in and sent me on my way. When I got into my room I was extremely dissatisfied. They had given me a room with one queen bed and a couch. The queen bed was horrendous. I wish I had taken a picture of it. They didn’t have a box spring for it so they pieced together 2 twin boxes and threw the queen on top of that. I went down to reception again and they had mentioned that due to the occupants in the room they assigned me a room with a queen and not the fulls that I booked! I was so upset and was told there were absolutely NO rooms left in the building that could accommodate my booking. After sitting at the desk for about 10 minutes insisting I get 2 beds, I was accommodated with a king, pull out, and comp breakfast! Unpon farther inspection of the room and king bed I found it to completely miss the mark. After lifting up the sheets of the king I saw that the fitted sheet was dirty and had been slightly ripped. They gave me extremely dirty pillows, some had black stains on them and one had a clear mystery stain… gross to say the least! The woman I was rooming with mentioned that the pull out mattress was extremely uncomfortable and woke her up in the middle of the night from its squeaking! We were under the impression from the front desk that the sheets would have been put on the pull out, however, we had to order up sheets and pillows. That was a bit disappointing too. Overall, from the images posted online and all the great reviews I’ve seen this stay missed the mark completely! I’d recommend finding somewhere that isn’t under renovations to book you stay in state college.
