It's a motel. Its low price is why you stay. Check in was great. Parking was good. Room was clean, shower was was hot, shower head was good enough. My real problem is the rooms smell like a glade air freshener exploded. The heater kept the room warm, but the fan was not adjustable so it was on high all the time. Not sure why I was placed on the second floor as there were no cars in the lot.

Rodeway Inn State College - near University Introduce

For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in State College, Pennsylvania, Rodeway Inn State College - near University is an option that frequently appears, particularly for those on a strict budget. Located at 1040 N Atherton St, State College, PA 16803, USA, this hotel can be contacted at (814) 238-6783 or via mobile at +1 814-238-6783. As a Rodeway Inn, it is generally positioned as an economy choice, aiming to provide basic accommodation at a lower price point.

The environment of Rodeway Inn State College is that of a typical motel, characterized by exterior corridor access to rooms. Its location on N Atherton St provides direct access to a major thoroughfare in State College, placing it reasonably close to Penn State University, as indicated by its name. This proximity can be a draw for visitors attending university events, sporting games, or academic functions, offering a pragmatic base without being in the immediate hustle and bustle of downtown. Guests have noted good parking availability, which is a practical convenience, especially for those traveling by car. However, the overall environmental experience is heavily influenced by sensory factors within the rooms. Several reviews highlight a pervasive and "unbearable" deodorizer or air freshener smell, which some speculate might be used to mask other odors like mold or mildew. This strong scent is a significant detractor for many guests, impacting their comfort and overall perception of the cleanliness and freshness of the environment.

Regarding services, Rodeway Inn State College offers basic amenities expected of a budget motel. The check-in process has been described as "great," with helpful staff members. This initial interaction can set a positive tone for a guest's stay. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi, which is a standard and essential service for most travelers today, allowing guests to stay connected. Free parking is another service offered, which is a valuable convenience, particularly in an area where parking near attractions can be challenging or costly. However, beyond these fundamental services, the provided information does not elaborate on a wide array of additional offerings such as a complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, or a business center, which are common in higher-tiered hotels. Customer feedback regarding post-stay administrative issues, such as billing discrepancies, indicates that while the initial check-in might be smooth, guests should remain vigilant about their charges and follow up diligently if problems arise. This suggests that while basic services are provided, the overall service experience, particularly concerning issue resolution, may be inconsistent.

The features of the rooms at Rodeway Inn State College are focused on providing minimal necessities. Reviews confirm that rooms are generally "clean," and the shower provides "hot" water with an "good enough" shower head, indicating that fundamental hygiene and comfort aspects are met. However, several significant issues related to room features have been consistently reported by guests. The most prominent complaint revolves around the HVAC unit. Guests have noted that the fan is "not adjustable," running on "high all the time," and producing a "ridiculously loud" noise, described as around "60 decibels." This constant, loud fan noise significantly disrupts sleep and impacts guest comfort, making it a major drawback. Additionally, "knocking water pipes" have been reported as being "loud as heck," further contributing to a noisy environment that is detrimental to rest. The strong deodorizer smell within the rooms is also a pervasive feature that significantly detracts from the stay, leading to discomfort and even nightmares for some guests. While basic amenities like a heater are present and functional for warmth, the lack of control over fan speed and the presence of disruptive noises point to limitations in the room's comfort features that might not align with modern traveler expectations. The overall impression of the rooms is that they are very basic and functional, without any additional comforts or modern updates that would enhance the stay beyond the bare minimum.

Promotional information for Rodeway Inn State College - near University primarily revolves around its low price point. As explicitly stated in reviews, "Its low price is why you stay." This indicates that the hotel's main draw is its affordability, targeting budget-conscious travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" who prioritize cost over extensive amenities or luxury. The "near University" in its name serves as a direct promotional hook, highlighting its convenient location for Penn State visitors. While no specific seasonal discounts or package deals are detailed in the provided information, budget hotels typically offer competitive rates during off-peak seasons or for extended stays. The hotel's inclusion in the Rodeway Inn brand, part of the Choice Hotels family, suggests that it might participate in loyalty programs or offer standard chain promotions. However, the severe negative feedback regarding noise, odor, and perceived value ("Price is awful for what you get. Much better options are available around the area if you book in advance") significantly undermines any potential promotional efforts. The explicit advice from guests to "DO NOT stay here even for one night" and to consider "sleeping in your car" reflects a severe disconnect between the hotel's offerings and guest expectations, making it challenging for any promotion to effectively attract and satisfy guests beyond those with extremely limited budgets who require only the most basic, short-term accommodation.

You are better off sleeping in your car than coming here: 1. The deodorizor smell is unbearable. I think they may be using it to cover up mold or mildew smells, or just as a torturing device on their guests. You will still be smelling it after staying in the room for 6 hours. The smell is so bad that my first night, I had a nightmare about trying to remove the scent. 2. HVAC unit is ridiculously loud. Lowest fan speed is like 60 decibels, so it will wake you up in the middle of the night when it turns on. 3. Knocking water pipes are loud as heck. Unacceptable. 4. Price is awful for what you get. Much better options are available around the area if you book in advance. Don't come here. DO NOT stay here even for one night. Edit to business response: oh, don't worry, I let the business know my complaints. This was for room 221. We are still confirming that we weren't overcharged extra days for our stay (we received a partial refund and then were charged TWICE right afterward). If this isn't cleared from our card after 3-5 business days, we will be taking further actions, and I will update here.

Have stayed here probably half a dozen times over the years. It’s a perfect overnight stay for long road trips across the state. Rooms nice and quiet. Very private, even with door leading right to parking lot (unless upstairs on top floor, those are the suites). Nice spot for unwinding after a long day. I usually stay in the lowest level, can park car right outside room. Get a pizza pie from Fascia Luna in town and walk in and relax. Basic cable on TV, but it serves its purpose. It’s located close enough to town that it’s easy to hit the main drag of you want to, but secluded enough that you can avoid the hustle of main campus. There’s also a bangin’ breakfast joint a few blocks away.

Room was clean, however, there was an obnoxious deodorizing smell in the room. It was like they had 10 glade plug ins with new car scent in every outlet. I stayed at a motel the previous night and paid 1/3 of the price and it was the same. Definitely needs some updating. For the price i paid, i thought it waaaaay overpriced. I should have driven farther away for a hotel that was $80 cheaper

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I had a booked a room before reading the reviews ( Mind you I booked the room 3 WEEKS in advance) and am currently STILL trying to get my money back after canceling a DAY after I got it. Most hotels have a cancellation policy of 24-48 hours before ARRIVAL. And Its 3 weeks to my stay and Ive been wrongfully charged. I called the third party I booked through (booking.com) And they sent me a copy of the waiver as well as sending a waiver to the hotel requesting a refund. It got denied by the manager and he is impossible to contact. When I spoke with the agent on the phone, she proceeded to tell me that booking.com LIED to me and never sent a waiver although I have my own copy proving very much otherwise. This place sucks, the management is clearly horrible and the cancellation policy is a joke to get your money. No wonder people have been bit by bed bugs here and etc. I will be filing a nice big lawsuit if I do not receive my money soon. NEVER book here. Horrible customer service and horrible policies. Im wondering if its even legal to deny a refund three weeks previous to booking AND when I cancelled it on the same day of booking.
