The front desk receptionist was very kind and friendly. Restaurant hostess was very rude to us when we walked in. They were busy and it was 930, she told us they closed at 10 and she didn’t want to seat us. A nice waitress came over and offered to seat us immediately and apologized, stating that they just can’t take orders after 10 and that we were fine to sit and eat. Milkshakes were great! Rooms were horrific. Tiny beds and room. I turned on the fan and it made the loudest noise, sounding like I was taking off in a jet. We were then forced to be very hot all night, rather than listen to the fan in the room. The bathroom was gross and outdated, with the bottom of the curtain and shower floor browning. The layout was confusing and hard to get to other rooms. We paid an outrageous amount to stay and were disappointed overall.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the State College, Pennsylvania area, Toftrees Golf Resort often appears as an option. Located at 1 Country Club Ln, State College, PA 16803, USA, this resort aims to provide a comprehensive experience, particularly appealing to golf enthusiasts. You can reach them by phone at (814) 234-8000 or mobile at +1 814-234-8000.
When considering Toftrees Golf Resort within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, it's important to look at various aspects, including its environment, services, features, and overall guest experience, drawing from available information and customer feedback. The resort is situated amidst a golf course, suggesting a tranquil and scenic environment, often a key draw for guests seeking a relaxing escape or a golf-centric vacation. The sprawling green landscapes of the golf course contribute to a generally pleasant visual aesthetic, providing a sense of spaciousness and natural beauty that might differentiate it from more urban hotel settings.
Regarding services, Toftrees Golf Resort offers a front desk, which, according to some guest reviews, can be staffed by kind and friendly individuals. This initial point of contact sets the tone for a guest's stay, and a positive interaction at check-in is often appreciated. The presence of a restaurant on-site is another significant service, offering convenience for guests who prefer to dine without leaving the premises. However, it's worth noting that customer experiences with the restaurant service can vary. While some have praised the quality of the food, such as the milkshakes, there have been instances of long wait times for seating and inconsistent front-of-house service, particularly concerning closing times. For example, one review highlighted a situation where a hostess was initially reluctant to seat guests close to closing, although another waitress intervened to provide better service. This suggests that while the culinary offerings might be a highlight, the efficiency and consistency of the dining service could be areas of variability.
A key feature of Toftrees Golf Resort, as its name suggests, is its golf course. This makes it a prime destination for individuals or groups planning a golf outing. The golf course itself is likely a significant draw, offering a dedicated space for the sport and potentially providing lessons or equipment rentals, although specific details on these amenities are not always highlighted in general reviews. Beyond golf, the resort's amenities and room features are also critical for guests in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. Customer feedback indicates some mixed experiences regarding the rooms. Some guests have described the rooms as small, with tiny beds and outdated bathrooms. Specific concerns have been raised about the functionality of in-room amenities, such as air conditioning or fans creating excessive noise, leading to discomfort. The lack of refrigerators in rooms and the cost of bottled water have also been points of contention for some guests. Furthermore, some have reported issues with WiFi connectivity, which can be a significant factor for both leisure and business travelers in today's connected world. The overall decor and furnishings in some areas have been described as old, worn out, and occasionally musty, suggesting that the resort may benefit from updates to its interior spaces to align with modern guest expectations.
In terms of value, and especially relevant for those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with budget in mind, some guests have expressed concerns about the pricing relative to the perceived quality of the accommodations. Reviews suggest that some find the cost to be "outrageous" given the condition of the rooms and the services provided, drawing comparisons to "budget motels with a golf course" rather than a premium resort experience. This implies that while the golf course itself is a valuable amenity, the overall guest experience, particularly concerning the rooms, might not consistently meet the expectations set by the pricing. It's also mentioned that there are potentially "nicer hotels available in the area for less money," which is important competitive information for potential guests. This indicates that while Toftrees Golf Resort has a historical reputation, its current offerings may not always stand out against contemporary competitors in terms of value for money.
Promotional information, while not explicitly provided in the given text beyond the general description, would typically highlight the golf course as a primary attraction, potentially offering stay-and-play packages. Given the feedback, any promotional efforts might also aim to address common guest concerns by showcasing updated room features, improved services, or special offers that enhance the perceived value. For example, highlighting recent renovations if any have occurred, or emphasizing specific features that differentiate it from other hotels, would be beneficial. Without specific promotional details, it's difficult to elaborate further, but generally, such resorts often run seasonal discounts, group rates for golf outings, or packages that combine accommodation with dining credits or local attractions.
In summary, Toftrees Golf Resort, as a contender in the "Hotels Near Of Me" search, presents itself as a golf-centric destination with a pleasant environment. While the front desk staff can be welcoming, and the restaurant offers good food, particularly milkshakes, inconsistencies in dining service and concerns regarding room quality, amenities, and value for money have been raised by previous guests. The resort's appeal largely rests on its golf course, and for individuals prioritizing this feature, it could be a suitable option. However, for those seeking modern, well-maintained rooms with comprehensive amenities and consistent service at a competitive price point, it may be advisable to consider these objective reviews and potentially explore other "Hotels Near Of Me" options in the State College area to ensure alignment with personal preferences and expectations.

Mar 23, 2025 · Megan JohnsonServiceable at best. Old, worn out furnishings and decor that smell musty. Heat doesn’t work well. Either too hot or too cold. Had to wake up several times during the night to adjust the thermostat. Food at the restaurant was very good, but we had to wait an hour and a half to get seated. No room service available. No refrigerator in room. Bottled water costs $4. Poor WiFi connection. Think of it as a budget motel with a golf course. Definitely not worth the price. Much nicer hotels available in the area for less money. I think they’re surviving on their reputation from decades ago, but it isn’t the place it once was.
Feb 16, 2025 · Jeff SarabokUnfortunately, this place is not only old but rundown. The entire hotel just kind of smells bad. You can tell they try to keep it clean but the place needs major renovations. I wanted to try it out because location to the University is great but I would not recommend. The front desk worker was polite enough but didn't give us any information at all about the place. College town, so kids I guess.
Apr 28, 2025 · Dale BertucciThe room had thin walls, was rather small, and the tv was small, too. The beds were decently comfortable. The toilet in my room was a little too close to the floor for my taste. The restaurant was decent, but $25 for a steak sandwich and fries
Mar 06, 2025 · Matthew BarclayVery nice resort, definitely got what I paid for. Staff are very friendly and rooms are clean. Will come back whenever possible.
