THIS HOTEL STINKS! IT REALLY SMELLS HORRIBLE. I have stayed at this location on and off for work over the past 2 years because of the price and location. However, I can not take the smell of this place anymore. My nose takes a beating every time I stay here! During my last couple of stays, I had to go to Target and get room de- odorderizer and spray on the carpets to get the smell out. It smells like people with body odor coming from stinky arm pits and crouches. It also smells like cigarettes, dirty dogs, and cats. This place, like other hotels charge a pet fee to customers, yet they don't do any extra procedures in keeping the rooms odor free and clean. They need to mop the floors, wipe down the walls, regularly clean the carpets, and use deodorant in the rooms! You have to be extra clean when you allow animals in your hotel or people who smoke and smell like animals. The cleaning staff is just doing the basic stuff, barely and you can tell . Marriot needs more extended stay hotel options in Alpharetta other than this place. I am surprised they don't have a Residence Inn here in the Avalon part of town.
For local users in Alpharetta, Georgia, seeking "Hotels Near Of Me," the TownePlace Suites Atlanta Alpharetta, located at 7925 Westside Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30009, USA, is a Marriott-branded extended-stay option. You can reach them by phone at (770) 664-1300 or mobile at +1 770-664-1300. As an extended-stay hotel, it is designed to provide amenities that cater to longer visits, including full kitchens in suites, complimentary breakfast, and pet-friendly policies. However, recent customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the hotel's condition and cleanliness, which are crucial for any potential guest to consider.
The TownePlace Suites Atlanta Alpharetta is situated on Westside Parkway, offering a location that some guests find convenient for work and access to local attractions. Its proximity to areas like Avalon Mall and Ameris Bank Amphitheatre is often highlighted in promotional materials, suggesting it's well-placed for both business and leisure activities in Alpharetta and nearby Roswell. The property aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere for extended stays, typically featuring an outdoor pool and a fitness center.
However, the actual guest experience regarding the hotel's environment, particularly its internal condition, appears to be a significant concern. Multiple recent reviews describe a pervasive and unpleasant odor throughout the hotel. One long-term guest explicitly states, "THIS HOTEL STINKS! IT REALLY SMELLS HORRIBLE... It smells like people with body odor coming from stinky arm pits and crouches. It also smells like cigarettes, dirty dogs, and cats." This severe complaint suggests a fundamental issue with air quality and deep cleaning procedures. Another reviewer corroborated this, noting, "The entire room just felt gross." Furthermore, physical signs of disrepair and lack of upkeep are mentioned, including a "completely gutted parking lot" upon arrival, and rooms with "so much damage from age wear and tear that it wasn't comfortable to stay." Specific issues cited include "filthy bathroom," "mildewed" shower and shower curtain, "carpet throughout needs a good cleaning," "lumpy and uncomfortable" beds, and "damp" carpet in the main area. This indicates that while the external location might be favorable, the internal environment is reportedly in need of significant renovation and consistent, thorough cleaning.
According to Marriott's official website, a "Complete Redesign Coming in November 2023" was announced, with updates expected in "early 2024," during which noise might occur from 8 am to 6 pm. This suggests the hotel is aware of the need for renovation and is actively working on it. However, the customer reviews cited above are relatively recent (some within the last year), indicating that guests might still be experiencing issues related to the ongoing transition or the aftermath of renovations.
As a Marriott-affiliated property, TownePlace Suites typically offers standard services expected from the brand, including a 24-hour front desk, complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and laundry facilities. For extended stays, amenities like fully equipped kitchens in suites, grocery service, and pet-friendly accommodations are core services.
However, the customer feedback paints a less favorable picture regarding the quality and consistency of these services, particularly housekeeping. The severe odor issues directly point to a failure in deep cleaning and maintenance protocols. The repeated need for a guest to purchase and apply room deodorizer suggests that the hotel's cleaning staff is "just doing the basic stuff, barely and you can tell." This implies that the cleanliness standards are not being met, especially considering the hotel's pet-friendly policy which requires "extra clean" procedures. The absence of basic supplies, such as toilet paper and kitchen towels, as reported in one review, further indicates a lapse in attention to detail in service delivery.
For a hotel that charges a pet fee ($100 non-refundable fee per room per stay for up to 2 pets, 30 lbs max per pet), guests expect additional cleaning and maintenance to ensure odor-free rooms, which, according to reviews, is not consistently provided. The lack of comfortable and well-maintained rooms also impacts the perception of value for money, despite the competitive pricing that initially attracted some guests.
TownePlace Suites Atlanta Alpharetta is designed with extended-stay guests in mind, meaning its suites are typically equipped with full kitchens (refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and kitchenware), separate living and sleeping areas, and flat-panel TVs. The hotel also advertises complimentary breakfast, an on-site fitness center, and a seasonal outdoor pool with lounge chairs. Free self-parking is another advertised feature.
While these features are attractive on paper, the reviews reveal significant issues with their condition and usability. The "terribly old lumpy and uncomfortable" beds directly contradict the expectation of a comfortable stay. A "gross" and "damp" carpet undermines the comfort of the living area. The unappealing condition of the shower, described as something a guest "didn't feel comfortable using based on how it looked," severely impacts a basic and essential hotel feature. The mention of a "completely gutted parking lot" suggests that even common area features may be undergoing significant disruption or are not well-maintained.
The hotel's official website states that a "Complete Redesign" was ongoing in November 2023, with updated suites expected in early 2024. This suggests that the hotel is actively working to address some of the issues raised by guests, specifically related to the age and wear and tear of the rooms and common areas. If these renovations have been completed as planned, the condition of the hotel's features may have improved since the time of the negative reviews. However, without more recent positive reviews confirming the impact of the renovation, guests should be cautious.
TownePlace Suites Atlanta Alpharetta is promoted as an ideal choice for extended stays, offering the comforts of home with convenient amenities. Its pet-friendly policy and location near popular Alpharetta attractions like Avalon and Ameris Bank Amphitheatre are key selling points. The complimentary breakfast, full kitchens, and free Wi-Fi are designed to appeal to both business travelers and families on longer trips.
For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," it is critical to weigh the promotional information against the direct experiences of recent guests. While the location and concept of an extended-stay suite with a full kitchen are appealing, the strong negative feedback regarding pervasive odors, cleanliness, and the outdated condition of rooms cannot be overlooked. The mention of ongoing renovations (expected to be completed in early 2024) is a positive sign that the hotel is addressing these issues. However, prospective guests are advised to directly inquire about the status of renovations and to seek the most up-to-date reviews to gauge the current state of the property. For those prioritizing a clean, fresh-smelling, and well-maintained environment, it might be prudent to verify the improvements post-renovation before committing to a stay.

Apr 05, 2025 · B HFirst problem was pulling up to a completely gutted parking lot and struggled to find the main entrance. Then our room if it's any reflection on the rest of the hotel I don't recommend staying there until they completely remodel. Our room had so much damage from age wear and tear that it wasn't comfortable to stay. We didn't feel comfortable using the shower based on how it looked and the beds are terribly old lumpy and uncomfortable the carpet in the main area was damp the whole time we were there and I have no idea why but the entire room just felt gross. I'm sorry but I will not stay at this location again
Mar 30, 2025 · Trish NuttingServiceable location with fantastic access to to my company. Don't expect anything fancy. But clean, convenient, and pretty quite. These rooms have kitchens, and full refrigerator. OK breakfast for this class of hotel. Staff was very nice and friendly. So no complaints. Great value.
Jan 22, 2025 · Pierre HulsebusWell.....the staff is great, especially the manager; he was very nice and sympathetic to my plight. The hotel would be great. It desperately needs to be remodeled; if that happens, it would be the marriott property we're used to!
Apr 06, 2025 · Sherri NewmanUpon checking in with our small children after a 16hr drive, the poor guy Joshua who works night shift had a terrible attitude. Seems as if he hates himself and projecting his low self esteem onto others. I hope he finds some peace and tranquility in his life. Most of all, hope he finds self love and self respect. No reason to treat people unkindly how he did but unfortunately people who have been hurt in life strive to hurt others. I don’t stay where I'm not welcomed, this place is not inviting, so obviously we cancelled our reservation without hesitation. As titanium elite members, this has been the worse experience from Marriott thus far.
