I don’t even know where to begin. This hotel was vile. As soon as I stepped into the room, I was hit with a musty, sour smell that made me gag. It was like something had died in the walls and no one bothered to check. The floors were sticky, the furniture was dusty, and the sheets looked used. There were stains on the bedding and pillowcases, and I’m pretty sure the mattress had never been replaced—or cleaned. I didn’t dare touch anything without wiping it down first, and even that felt pointless. The bathroom? A total nightmare. The shower had black mold in the corners, the toilet seat was stained, and the sink had someone else's toothpaste crusted around the drain. Absolutely revolting. When I brought it up to the staff, they barely seemed surprised. No apology, no urgency, just offered to “spray something” in the room. Like that was supposed to fix years of neglect. This place isn’t just dirty—it’s unsanitary. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not even for one night. Honestly, sleeping in my car would’ve been cleaner and more comfortable.

Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson Introduce

For travelers seeking a modern and value-driven stay within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson, situated at 13050 Clemson Blvd, Seneca, SC 29678, USA, offers a contemporary experience. With phone contact at (864) 280-8800 or +1 864-280-8800, this hotel, part of the Tru by Hilton brand, aims to provide a straightforward yet engaging stay with a focus on efficiency and social interaction.

The environment of Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson is designed to be vibrant and stimulating, catering to a younger, modern demographic. Located just off Highway 123, the hotel offers convenient access to major attractions in the area, including Clemson University (approximately a 5-minute drive or 1.4 km walk) and the scenic Lake Hartwell (around 0.4 km). This makes it an attractive option for university visitors, those attending events at Littlejohn Coliseum or Memorial Stadium, and outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy the lake. While situated in a commercial area, with a small selection of dining and shopping options within walking distance (like the Hartwell Village Shopping Center), the hotel itself provides a lively atmosphere with its open and colorful lobby. This spacious lobby is a central feature, offering semi-private alcoves for work, numerous device-charging spots, and areas for socializing with board games and a billiards/pool table. There's also an outdoor patio for guests to relax and unwind. The design aesthetic is characterized by bright colors, minimalist furnishings, and a focus on communal spaces, reflecting the brand's contemporary approach to hospitality. It is important to acknowledge that some past guests have reported issues with the cleanliness and upkeep of certain areas, including musty smells in rooms, sticky floors, dusty furniture, and stains on bedding, as well as black mold in bathrooms and stained toilet seats. These contrasting experiences highlight that while the overall design concept is modern, the execution of cleanliness can vary, and potential guests may wish to consider these aspects when booking.

The Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson features 98 non-smoking guest rooms spread across four floors, built in 2019. The "uniquely Tru rooms" are described as smaller and more efficiently designed, focusing on maximizing space for essentials. Each room comes equipped with a comfortable bed, a large HDTV (often reported as a 4K TV), and a "big, bright bathroom with tons of counter space," complete with showers, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Other in-room amenities include refrigerators, desks, blackout drapes/curtains, iron/ironing boards, and complimentary fast Wi-Fi. Guests can choose between rooms with one king bed or two queen beds. The hotel emphasizes providing everything a guest needs without unnecessary clutter. While some guests praise the comfortable beds and strong water pressure in showers, others have voiced significant concerns about room cleanliness, citing issues like used-looking sheets, stains on bedding, and general unsanitary conditions. These reports suggest a potential inconsistency in housekeeping standards, and it's advisable for guests to manage their expectations regarding room condition based on these mixed reviews. The hotel offers accessible rooms (16 in total) and connecting rooms are available. Windows in the rooms do not open.

The services at Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson align with the brand's commitment to delivering a convenient and value-packed stay. A significant highlight is the complimentary "on-the-go" hot breakfast, served daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. This spread often includes scrambled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, chicken sausage, waffle boats with various toppings, donuts, assorted breakfast breads, and a variety of juices, catering to both indulgent and healthy preferences. Complimentary fresh LavAzza coffee, Stash tea, and hot chocolate are available 24/7 in the lobby. For those late-night cravings or quick snacks, a lobby market sells gourmet snacks, local treats, and single-serve beer and wine. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk for guest assistance. Guests can stay connected with free in-room and public area Wi-Fi and utilize the 24-hour business center with free wireless printing. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing two dogs or cats up to 75 lbs per pet, for a non-refundable fee of $75 for stays of 1-4 nights, or $125 for stays of 5+ nights. Service animals are exempt from fees. Pets cannot be left unattended in rooms. Free self-parking is available on-site, including bus parking, and wheelchair-accessible parking is provided. Laundry facilities (dry cleaning/laundry service and a laundromat) are also available. The staff, when responsive, is generally helpful and friendly, as indicated by positive customer feedback, although some guests experienced a lack of urgency when reporting issues.

Key features of Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson focus on active and social amenities. The hotel provides a fitness center equipped with modern exercise machines and free weights for guests to maintain their routines. The expansive lobby doubles as a "game room," offering a billiards/pool table, board games, and an arcade area, providing entertainment for all ages. While there isn't a swimming pool on-site, the proximity to Lake Hartwell (where activities like fishing, canoeing, and boating can be enjoyed) offers ample opportunities for water-based recreation nearby. The hotel's location is ideal for accessing Clemson University's sporting venues and academic buildings. Additionally, the South Carolina Botanical Garden is just four miles away, offering a beautiful natural escape. The hotel also incorporates various safety measures, including staff trained in safety protocols, sterilizing equipment, a first aid kit, temperature checks for guests and staff, and free face masks, along with options for contactless check-in and check-out. The "Tru" brand caters to those who appreciate a no-frills yet stylish and efficient lodging experience, prioritizing core comforts and digital connectivity.

Promotional information for Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson often highlights its "Affordable travel with unexpected things" motto, emphasizing its modern design, complimentary breakfast, and convenient location near Clemson University and Lake Hartwell. The hotel is a popular choice for visitors seeking a balance of budget-friendliness and contemporary amenities. While specific long-term discounts may vary, guests can often find deals through Hilton's official website and other major travel platforms. The hotel has received mixed reviews regarding cleanliness, with some guests reporting significant issues, while others find the property clean and well-maintained, suggesting variability in guest experience. It is always recommended for potential guests to review the most recent feedback and perhaps contact the hotel directly with any specific concerns about room conditions. Despite some negative experiences related to maintenance, the hotel's strong points, such as comfortable beds, good water pressure, and a vibrant common area, appeal to many. Prices can fluctuate by season and day of the week, with March and October sometimes offering cheaper rates. The Tru by Hilton Seneca Clemson aims to provide a fresh and functional base for exploring the Clemson area, making it a viable consideration within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for those who prioritize location, modern design, and complimentary essentials.

I can say this. Out of all the chains I stay in while working out of town, the Tru's are the best. Super comfy beds, showers actually have water pressure, TV was a 4K I'm almost certain of it. Catering to the younger 30 something crowd seems to be the theme. Guaranteed you will enjoy your stay, unless you are a miserable person. In that case just stay home and save everyone the bother.

The bathroom shower had hair on the walls and the breakfast, my youngest daughter could have done better than this. For 172 dollars for one night I would prefer a microwave in my room to reheat up my dinner from our night out or just enjoy a decent breakfast with my husband and myself. We totally enjoyed our quiet time but with the price I would have enjoyed it a lot more with these few accommodations

Rooms are small but very comfortable and clean. Check in was easy. I don't eat breakfast so I can't comment on it. The common areas are nice and spacious. I wish they had a coffee maker in the room, not a fan of getting up and having to go get it.

I don’t even know where to begin. This place was an absolute nightmare. From the moment I walked in, the smell hit me like a wall — a revolting mix of mildew, stale air, and something I’d rather not try to identify. The lobby looked halfway decent, but that illusion shattered the second I stepped into the elevator, which reeked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. When I got to my room, I was honestly horrified. The floors were sticky, the sheets were stained (yes, stained!), and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in ages. Hair in the shower, grime in the sink, and a toilet that made a gas station bathroom look luxurious. The staff barely seemed to care. I asked for a room change and got nothing but attitude. I ended up sleeping in my clothes on top of the covers because I didn’t trust a single surface in that room. This place was beyond dirty — it was nasty, uncomfortable, and completely unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend Tru to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else.
