This is the second year I've had the pleasure of attending one of my favorite conferences here! The rooms are cozy, and the areas for conference activities are spacious with good sound and all the amenities we need. But above all, the service here was some of the best I've experienced! Not only did the staff go above and beyond to exceed our needs and expectations, but they all expressed genuine happiness and excitement in doing so. Our guests were given the utmost attention in regard to safety, accessibility, and food needs. I would especially like to thank Steve, who helped us with room access and security. Katie and David on night security were excellent in helping with evening activities and safety. And the entire kitchen staff made sure everyone with special food needs not only had options, but many delicious and generous options!

UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center Introduce

The UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, located at 50 Warren St, Lowell, MA 01852, USA, holds a unique position within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, having historically served both as a public hotel and a university residence hall. While recent information indicates the facility closed in 2023 and is currently being considered for use as a temporary shelter, its reputation for exceptional service and robust amenities from its time as a hotel and conference venue provides valuable insight for local users who may be looking for such services in the future or for understanding its past offerings.

During its operation as a hotel and conference center, the environment of the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center was consistently praised for its dual functionality. The rooms were described as "cozy," offering a comfortable stay for individual travelers or those attending conferences. Importantly, the areas dedicated to conference activities were highlighted as "spacious with good sound and all the amenities we need," making it a highly suitable venue for various events, from academic conferences to other gatherings. The building, a former DoubleTree Hotel purchased by the university, was designed to integrate hotel facilities with student housing, with separate entrances and circulation plans to ensure security and privacy for both hotel guests and students. The presence of a conveniently located adjacent parking garage was a significant environmental advantage, saving guests from long walks in inclement weather.

The service at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center was a standout feature, receiving effusive praise from guests and conference organizers alike. Reviewers consistently described the staff's service as "some of the best I've experienced." This went beyond mere politeness; staff members reportedly "went above and beyond to exceed our needs and expectations" and "expressed genuine happiness and excitement in doing so." This level of genuine hospitality contributed significantly to a positive guest experience. Specific individuals, such as Steve (for room access and security) and Katie and David (night security), were singled out for their excellence in assisting guests and ensuring safety during evening activities. Furthermore, the kitchen staff received commendation for their attention to detail, ensuring that "everyone with special food needs not only had options, but many delicious and generous options." This demonstrates a commitment to inclusive and high-quality catering, a critical aspect for a conference center.

The features of the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center were comprehensive, supporting both short-term hotel stays and longer-term residency (when it functioned as a dorm). The rooms, whether for hotel guests or students, were "extremely spacious" and equipped with "robust climate control." Bathrooms were noted for their full-size bathtub/shower combinations, ample counter space, and room under the sink for laundry baskets, enhancing the comfort and convenience. The "beds were huge and comfortable," ensuring a restful night's sleep. Some rooms on higher floors boasted "a great view of the city and skyline." Beyond individual rooms, the on-site dining hall was described as "cozy, convenient, and with a good array of options," providing easy access to meals. As a conference center, it offered substantial flexible meeting and event space, complemented by a business center and typically a fitness center. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV were standard amenities.

The strategic location of the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center at 50 Warren St in downtown Lowell was a key advantage for many. It was within easy walking distance of significant Lowell attractions such as the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, Lowell National Historical Park, and the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. This made it ideal for visitors attending events, exploring the city's rich history, or visiting students at the university. While a former student resident noted that its separation from the main campus posed some challenges for daily commuting to classes due to shuttle system limitations, its overall downtown placement offered considerable benefits for accessibility to various city amenities and cultural sites. For events like SNHU graduations, its proximity would likely have made it a desirable lodging choice.

In terms of promotional information, the strong positive reviews from past guests and conference attendees serve as the most compelling endorsement of the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center's past operations. The testimonials consistently highlight the value derived from the quality of service, the comfort of the facilities, and the convenience of the location. While the hotel is currently not operating as a traditional hotel due to its temporary repurposing as a shelter, its historical standing on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" would have emphasized its capacity to host significant events and provide a high standard of hospitality. Future plans for the property would determine its return to public hotel and conference services, at which point its established reputation for excellent staff, comfortable accommodations, and versatile event spaces would be its primary selling points. Individuals or organizations interested in potential future bookings for conferences or accommodations are advised to contact the university or check for official announcements regarding its operational status at the provided phone numbers: (978) 934-6920 or mobile +1 978-934-6920.

In summary, the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, as formerly presented within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, consistently earned high marks for its overall environment, distinguished by cozy and spacious rooms, and well-equipped conference areas. Its services were exceptional, characterized by a genuinely attentive and helpful staff, who went above and beyond to ensure guest satisfaction, particularly for conference attendees with diverse needs. The features included comfortable and well-appointed rooms, convenient dining options, and significant meeting spaces, all supported by a prime downtown Lowell location with ample parking. While its current operational status is altered, its historical reputation stands as a testament to its capability to provide a high-quality hotel and conference experience, making it a property to watch for future re-opening as a public venue.

I'm reviewing as my experience as a former student resident when the University was still using the ICC as dorms. As a dorm, these rooms were excellent. Extremely spacious, robust climate control, and bathrooms with full-size bathtub/shower, ample counter space, and room under the sink for laundry baskets were some of my favorite features of the room. The beds were huge and comfortable and I happened to get a room on the 4th floor with a great view of the city and skyline. As a student, the location wasn't the best as it was separated from the main campus and the shuttle system wasn't the best. I was often late for classes as a result of the buses despite leaving plenty early. It got so bad that I wound up just driving to class toward the end of the semester and paying for hourly parking. The garage was very conveniently located, immediately next door to the ICC so I never had to endure a long walk during the heat of summer or cold of winter. The on-site dining hall was also cozy, convenient, and with a good array of options. I usually found something good to eat most of the times I'd go there. It was really a great dorm and I wish the University was still able to utilize it as such. If they get this building back for dorms, I would definitely resume living here.

It’s a good value for the money (free continental breakfast and comfy beds), but the rooms here leave a lot to be desired. Dimly lit bathroom, sticky hair dryer, no refrigerator, and only two bath towels in a room for four people were all disappointments. From an environmental standpoint, I was also disappointed that there were no recycling receptacles in the building.

We really had the feeling that it’s more a location for conferences and events than a hotel. The water in the bathroom didn’t work (only in the shower). The breakfast was a bagel and apple with some coffee.. we had to ask for spoons and sugar as everything was empty. The good part is that if you are there to only sleep, the room is fine and clean. The service on the phone was excellent.

The hotel is not luxury, but it is worth the money. The building has gym, restaurant, enough parking. It has different types of rooms, some of them are more equipped, for example with fridge. Overall the building is old, but it is well maintained and is clean. The location is also close to downtown and there are many restaurants and stores around. Safe for families. Its free breakfast is not so complete, but it is OK for a few days. Considering its price and Lowell situation, it is recommended.
