They take very good care of us Estes drivers. I stay here on a regular basis, sometimes several times a week. It’s an older motel and it’s basic but it’s ALWAYS clean and the service is great. Never had an issue here and I’d have no problem staying here with my family if we were ever to be passing through.
For travelers seeking accommodations in the greater Harrisburg-York area, and specifically those utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Value Inn, Harrisburg - York, located at 70 Robinhood Dr, Etters, PA 17319, USA, may appear as an option. The hotel can be contacted via phone at (717) 938-6200 or mobile at +1 717-938-6200. This introduction aims to provide an objective assessment of the Value Inn, drawing upon available guest feedback to describe its environment, services, features, and overall suitability for different types of travelers.
The Value Inn, Harrisburg - York, is characterized by its guests as an "older motel" and "basic." This indicates that travelers should manage their expectations regarding modern aesthetics or extensive luxury features. The property's age suggests a more traditional motel layout, potentially with direct outdoor access to rooms, which is common for this type of establishment. Its location in Etters, PA, places it somewhat removed from the immediate downtown bustle of either Harrisburg or York, offering a quieter setting for some. The hotel advertises "No Share Air" lodging without elevators or interior corridors, which can be a preference for guests seeking minimal shared indoor spaces. However, the exact surrounding environment, beyond its address, is not extensively detailed in the provided reviews.
In terms of services, customer feedback presents a dichotomy. One consistent guest, who is a regular business traveler (an "Estes driver") and stays at the hotel multiple times a week, offers overwhelmingly positive remarks about the service, stating it is "great." This suggests that for frequent, no-frills travelers, the staff provides reliable and satisfactory assistance. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is available at any time. Complimentary amenities include free Wi-Fi and Cable TV with HBO, catering to basic connectivity and entertainment needs. Additionally, the hotel provides a "complimentary breakfast bonanza" featuring items like cinnamon rolls, waffles, fruit, cereal, yogurt, and juices, which is a significant added value for guests. Other listed services include laundry facilities and luggage storage, which are practical for both short and longer stays. They also offer discount tickets to Roundtop Ski Mountain, located about 10.6 miles away, which could be a draw for winter sports enthusiasts.
However, another guest's experience starkly contrasts this positive portrayal, particularly concerning cleanliness. This individual described their room as "extra dirty," with "glitter all over the bed" and the "bed was full of hair and stains." This feedback points to a serious lapse in housekeeping standards in at least some instances. Such significant discrepancies in cleanliness reports indicate that while some guests consistently find the rooms "ALWAYS clean," others may encounter unacceptable conditions. This variability is a critical factor for potential guests to consider when evaluating the Value Inn, Harrisburg - York, especially for those prioritizing hygiene.
Regarding the features of the rooms themselves, they are described as "basic" and "outdated." This aligns with the understanding that it is an older motel. Rooms typically include air conditioning, heating, a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination, free toiletries, and a coffee/tea maker. Iron/ironing boards are also available. The standard room size is approximately 29 m² or 312 ft². While some rooms are designated non-smoking, smoking rooms are also available. The negative review regarding cleanliness also highlights a concern about pricing, stating that $95 a night was "way over priced for the dirty old outdated room." This suggests that the perceived value for money can be highly dependent on the condition of the specific room assigned to a guest.
The hotel appears to cater to a demographic that values affordability and basic functionality over modern luxuries. One consistent guest's willingness to "have no problem staying here with my family" if passing through suggests that for some, the overall reliability and consistent service outweigh the older appearance or basic nature of the facilities. However, the opposing review directly advises to "go else where," indicating that for others, the issues, particularly with cleanliness and perceived value, are deal-breakers.
It's important to note that the hotel has 81 guestrooms, and offers amenities like a 24-hour front desk, a library, and a vending machine. They also have facilities for guests with disabilities, including ADA-accessible rooms on the ground level with wider entrances and accessible features in bathrooms. While there is no elevator, guests can request ground floor rooms for easier access. The property accepts credit cards but not cash and requires a $100 damage deposit collected by credit card upon arrival. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is until 11:00 AM. They do not accept local reservations.
In conclusion, Value Inn, Harrisburg - York, is a "Hotels Near Of Me" option that offers a very basic, older motel experience. Its key strengths, according to one consistent guest, lie in its consistent cleanliness (for that guest) and great service, particularly for regular business travelers who prioritize reliability and affordability. The hotel provides essential amenities such as free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and a complimentary continental breakfast. Its location in Etters provides easy access to Interstates 76, 81, and 83, and is within a reasonable distance to various attractions like Roundtop Ski Mountain, Valley Green Golf Course, and the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, and about 13 miles from Harrisburg International Airport. However, prospective guests must be aware of conflicting reports regarding room cleanliness, with one severe instance describing a highly unsanitary room. This stark difference in guest experience suggests that quality can be inconsistent. Therefore, while some travelers may find it perfectly suitable for a no-frills, convenient, and regularly serviced stop, others may find its older nature and potential for cleanliness issues to be significant drawbacks, deeming it overpriced for the condition they might encounter. It is a budget-friendly option, but expectations should be aligned with a basic, older motel, and guests should be prepared for potential variations in room condition.

Feb 27, 2025 · Jason PittmanI'm not one to complain cheaper rooms but this place is extra dirty. Paid 95 a night which was way over priced for the dirty old outdated room we stayed in. There wad glitter all over the bed and the bed was full of hair and stains. I got dropped off there so I had no choice but to stay. I would suggest go else where. Way over priced and dirty
Mar 17, 2025 · Evan RineerNo frills motel but the rooms do have a fridge and microwave. Bed is very comfortable and shower works great. They charge 100 deposit to come in. If you have a service animal stay somewhere else
Feb 20, 2024 · Terri FreniaI use this hotel when I layover for my job. It's an older hotel but the beds are comfortable, wifi works great and the shower water pressure is amazing. That's really all you need to have a decent night. Good value!
Jan 20, 2024 · Matt ArcherVery clean. Very friendly staff. Very quiet. Comfortable beds and hot showers. Mini fridge and microwave in the rooms. Close to grocery store, Walmart, and many restaurants. Well maintained and cared for. I don't understand the poor reviews. I stay here often for work and have never seen 1 bug or had a dirty, smelly room. Housekeeping does a great job, and the owners should be proud of this establishment!
